We are offering two field trip options, allowing you to choose according to your specific interests in exploring different aspects of the sustainable soy value chain.
Option 1: Port of Santos
Join us to visit the Port of Santos (in Portuguese: Porto de Santos), the main port of Brazil and Latin America. It is located in the city of Santos, in the State of São Paulo. The port's land access system consists of the Anchieta and Imigrantes motorways and two railway lines (Ferroban and MRS). It covers an area of 7,770,000 square metres.
Historically, the Santos port complex has accounted for more than 25%, or a quarter, of Brazil’s trade balance and is the world’s largest exporter of sugar, orange juice, and coffee beans. Other major exports include soybeans, containerised cargo, maize, wheat, salt, paper, cars, alcohol, and other bulk liquids.
In 2016, it was ranked the 39th largest port in the world for container handling and 35th by tonnage, according to the AAPA – American Association of Port Authorities – ranking, making it the busiest port in Latin America.
