FLINDERS | PORTSEA | SORRENTO | BLAIRGOWRIE

How did your previous real estate and finance experience help the transition to Mornington Peninsula Real Estate?

Over 15 years in the Melbourne real estate market followed by 15+ years in asset finance, taught me that good sales skills are transferrable. The key is to listen to what people want and help guide them to a desired outcome. When my wife Caz and I first bought on the Peninsula, we noticed that that ability to listen was lacking and I felt a real estate role locally would be a good thing for me to apply my skills to again and it’s been great!

How long have you been in real estate and what was the trigger for this career choice?

I started on the rentals desk of a large South Yarra agency in 1988 and it was my first ‘real’ job after deciding that I no longer wanted to have a life in hospitality yet I knew I wanted a job where I could talk to people all day. While I took a break from real estate and worked in asset finance, I also helped set up and run a buyer’s advocacy for more than a decade, so I’ve never really been out of it.

‘We live local, we are local’ - where do you live, and what do you love about your community?

Mount Eliza up on the ‘hill’ in the Woodlands. We love the space around us and having been there for a little while now we also love the local shops and the community that’s built around them

What has been your greatest accomplishment at RT Edgar Mornington Peninsula?

My seemingly seamless integration into and being accepted by such a dynamic, supportive, diverse and wonderful group of people.

What is an interesting fact about you that clients may not know?

I particularly enjoy touring and camping around Australia in both my car and on my motorbike. Additionally I’m also heavily involved in the Victorian High Country Huts Association that helps preserve the approx 220 huts in the Vic High Country.

What does ‘down time’ look like for you?

Packing the car or the bike and taking off, even if just for a night. Caz is not as fond of this activity, so I get to stay around home and go out visiting friends quite a bit too.

Clifftop Update

Behind the scenes we have been busy working on two significant off-market sales; one a substantial clifftop offering and the other a Point Nepean Road address with expansive bay views.

Both sales required a high level of discretion and sold above expectations under competition in a very smooth and efficient process. These sales also brought out both international and local buyers looking for substantial family homes and land holdings in Portsea and Sorrento.

We remain at your disposal should you need any advice or assistance with your property needs.

Tucked away in the sprawling country roads of Red Hill, this brewery has been around for almost twenty years. Red Hill Brewery is an award-winning, independent craft brewery with the philosophy of brewing beers that are a pleasure to drink. The team at Red Hill Brewery are constantly experimenting with a variety of local produce like cherries, honey and truffles to enhance the rich flavours of their brews.

Never fear though, if you prefer a more traditional beverage, their classic barrel-aged beers are permanently available. Made with love, skill, and tender care, this is a true passion project.

Challenging the status quo when it comes to craft beers, head up to Red Hill Brewery for a tasting experience like no other. And if you don’t feel like driving home, book in to stay at the onsite Brewer’s Cottage.

HOPE IN A SUITCASE

Hope in a Suitcase Australia (HIASC) is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers who are incredibly passionate about showing every child in the foster care system that they are loved and valued by their community. They aim to do this by giving them a suitcase of their very own to ensure they have a safe and secure place to pack their belongings and take with them wherever their journey may lead. All managers and volunteers, along with the founder deliver this inspiring initiative out of generosity and love. They are driven by passion. Through this partnership, we can make a difference in the lives of children entering out-of-home care, empowering them with love and self-worth. In turn, equipping them for the challenging journey ahead, creating a space for resilience and hope for their future.

HOLLY LONGMUIR MANAGING DIRECTOR EOFY

Our last quarter’s sales figures proved to be stronger than anticipated. A late run on of buyer activity led to an excellent last few months.

James Redfern sold an office record price with an incredible ‘on the quiet’ transaction of a stunning Sorrento Cliff Top property.

Paul Armstrong sold a ‘special use’ farm within a very quick time frame (as second agent) at a very high price with clean terms.

Our short stay team hit the phones and called past guests which increased our weekend visitors book. Our Property management consultants have spent a lot of time chatting with potential renters in order to combat the oversupply of property available for lease. Whilst our business support team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of our group.

All in all, hard work has paid off and we continue to buck market trends.
