How did your previous real estate experience help the transition from Melbourne to Mornington Peninsula Real Estate when you made your permanent sea/tree change?

Having had 38 years experience in Melbourne has allowed me to make many long term relations both business and personal. Fortunately, my real estate experience wasn’t focused on just one suburb or area of Melbourne, I had the pleasure of working across numerous suburbs and regions, I loved the diversity, meeting different people, and selling a variety of property. The transition from Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula has been great and made easier due to there being a distinct connection with many clients having an interest in both areas. I have not regretted our move at all, the diversity of the area is wonderful, where there are the coastal, clifftop and rural land holdings, working farms, Golf Course Estates and everything in between.

How long have you been in real estate and what was the trigger for this career choice?

As mentioned, 38 years in the industry. I have always had an interest in the Arts and Antiques and I got into real estate via a job offer in antique dealing, where the owner also had an interest in an Estate Agents Office and I transitioned quite quickly in selling houses.

You’ve sold property all over Victoria. What has been a career highlight?

A highlight was selling the Sir Reginald Ansett Estate in Mt Eliza, at the time for a record price in excess of $14 million. This was my first sale on the Peninsula when I was first drawn to the area and all it has to offer.

What is an interesting fact about you that clients may not know?

A proud father of four, I have recently been appointed as the Secretary of the Red Hill Football Netball Club, and I am also a member of the Flinders Lions Association and Flinders Icebergers.

‘We live local, we are local’ - where do you live, and what do you love about your community?

I live in Flinders and I love the community spirit, village and all the area has to offer including the coast, National Park walks, wonderful local farm gates and vineyards.

What has been your greatest accomplishment at RT Edgar Mornington Peninsula?

I have interest in learning and development and have had the opportunity to implement that at RT Edgar Mornington Peninsula.

What does ‘down time’ look like for you?

Swimming in the sea, gardening and reading.

A New Year, The Same Vision

Early in 2022 I had the privilege of speaking in front of 1200 people at RiSE, a national real estate event. My topic was ‘the evolution of women in real estate’.

30 years ago when my career first started, the landscape was very different. Women were predominantly in administrative roles and there were not many (if any) female directors. With equality in our industry firmly within our grasp, it is wonderful to be a living example of this change. More so, I am immensely proud to be working with a group of people who respect each other for their abilities and resolve to be ‘the best’ in their field; gender is irrelevant.

We will continue to listen and improve in every way we can.
