Over the last few months, I’ve invested time to talk to small business owners within South Placer to see how they are doing and how they are navigating during this time of COVID-19, particularly with our stop-startstop again situation. Overwhelmingly, they are doing their best to stay strong, stay focused and learn how to best cope and be ready for when they can fully open to the community. They are coping by coming up with creative solutions, finding resources and leaning on local champions in their community to find funding and assistance.
One doesn’t need to look far to see small business, local governments and the community come together to make something happen! Need an example? Just look how local restaurants, the City of Roseville and the Downtown Roseville Partnership recently came together to build outdoor dining areas along Vernon Street to enhance local dining and shopping experiences. YOUR Chamber continues to offer resources to help small businesses and provide them with assistance to remain open or be ready to re-open. Many
Chamber members have given back to the community by paying the renewal dues of small businesses needing assistance through the “Pay It Forward” Program. The list goes on and on...... I am SO proud of the Chamber Staff, the Chamber Board of Directors and ALL the Chamber members! Everyone has come together to lend a helping hand when needed and I know they will be there, willing to assist local businesses both today and tomorrow! Remember....#WeAreRoseville!

The City of Roseville has been working to improve the local economic environment during this time of unprecedented disruption. Here are some of the ways we’re partnering with the business community.
$1 MILLION IN SMALL BUSINESS LOANS Early in the pandemic, the Roseville Small Business Stabilization Program provided $1 million in zero-interest secured loans to 111 small businesses. Loans gave organizations muchneeded help with the economic impacts of COVID-19 and saved an estimated 1,092 jobs.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT In partnership with the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce, personal protective equipment was provided to businesses and nonprofits in the city. This included 60,000 free masks and 400 gallons of hand sanitizer during a time when these critical items were hard to locate and purchase.
REOPEN ENERGY SMART Your community-owned utility, Roseville Electric, has rebates available to help small to medium sized business reopen. Receive assistance with lighting upgrades, HVAC tune-ups, smart thermostats, and food service rebates. FAMILY MEAL ROSEVILLE More than 16,000 meals prepared by local restaurants were delivered to nearly over 1,000 households experiencing food insecurity during the six-week period of the initial shutdown.
EXPANSION OF OUTDOOR DINING
The City partnered with Health Education Council to create Family Meal Roseville, with the City of Roseville’s Citizen’s Benefit Fund providing initial funding of $50,000. Many local organizations and residents sponsored the program, and more than 100 city staff volunteered to distribute food at school sites and affordable-housing communities for families and seniors.
If you’ve been to Downtown Roseville recently, you’ll notice new decking has been installed along Vernon Street providing larger outdoor dining areas for restaurants.

To support local restaurants and help safely increase occupancy, the City of Roseville made changes in zoning regulations in May to permit restaurants to temporarily add or expand outdoor dining. HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION The City released $500,000 of additional funds for homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing to augment the $6.4 million in federal and state funding already directed annually to issues involving homelessness. These funds provide

much-needed rental and utility payment assistance and funding to avoid evictions.

Roseville Electric offers a rateassistance program, providing a 15% discount on electric service for residents meeting certain income criteria.

In addition, Roseville Electric’s Residential Relief Program offers short-term assistance to support residents who may be struggling financially as a result of COVID-19. Qualifying customers will receive a one-time credit on their electric bill.
