Mission The mission of the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce is to provide value to our members; to promote and meet the needs of business and industry; to create the best community in which to live, work and do business.

5-Star Accredited The Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce is a nationally accredited 5-star Chamber of Commerce.

The accreditation program is instituted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to recognize oustanding contributions toward positive change by chambers to their communities.

Only 1% of Chambers in the United States have achieved this 5-Star ranking.

2016 was quite the year for the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce! Not only was it filled with exciting new events, like the New Member Mixers & Entreprenuerial Development Group, but it was also the year where we worked hard to better communicate the value of membership with our members. When a member joins the Chamber they immediately look for a return on their investment. And rightfully so!

Today there are many fantastic organizations to engage with. Because there are so many options, we must think about what sets us apart. This year we focused on critically looking at value propositions that the Chamber offers small, medium and large size businesses. The best part is we didn’t have to look far at all! Being a part of the Chamber has so many advantages, I’ll just point out a few that don’t require your attendance.

OFFICE DEPOT DISCOUNT This is such an easy way to see the return on your investment. Some of our members are saving over $1,000/ quarter on office supplies through our program with Office Depot. Joining the Chamber gives your business access to these discounts immediately, so don’t pay $7 for a stapler when you can pay $2, ok?

CONFERENCE ROOM USAGE As part of your membership, you receive 10 hours a month of free conference room use. We have 3 beautiful rooms to choose from and have made booking one even easier this year thanks to CEO Holdings, LLC and their online platform. Whether you need to hold interviews, an important client meeting, or you just need to get out of your office in order to get some work done this benefit is available to you.

COST EFFECTIVE TRAINING

The Chamber offers many cost effective seminars to help sharpen your business skills. Subject matter experts present themed seminars focused on marketing, compliance and professional development. These lunch time seminars are a great way to maximize your membership while building on your depth of knowledge to apply to your business. These seminars are also a great tool to send your staff to, helping you create better staff engagement and sharpening of their skills.

BULK MAIL SAVINGS

If you are doing a mailing with over 200 pieces, use our Bulk Mail Indicia to save money on postage. This member only benefit allows you to mail large quantities at a reduced postage rate.

MEMBER TO MEMBER DISCOUNTS

Our Member to Member Discount program helps increase business between Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce members. Discounts are posted on the Chamber website and are available to many different retailers in the area. Whether you are looking for a plumber for your leaky faucet or a gift for a coworker or client, use these discounts to save money while shopping local.

The Chamber luncheon in February featured the “State of Education”.

Sponsored the 25th Annual Student Recognition program - presenting an award to one outstanding student from each Middle School.

One Entrepreneurial Scholarship, funded by Kee & Associates, was presented to a student at Granite Bay High School.

The Chamber luncheon in September honored one outstanding teacher from each of the 4 school districts.

Efforts are underway to coordinate an Intern Program with Sierra College, Sacramento State, and William Jessup University to develop workforce-student connections and opportunities so that students remain in our community after graduation.

Concluded year 20 of program.

Graduated 21 students.

Integrated a “Dark Lunch” partnering with A Touch of Understanding.

Held a successful Graduation Dinner, inviting both graduates and alumni.

Successfully recruited sponsors for each session.

Continued to promote local commission openings to all graduates.

Received 42 applications for the class of 2017, which is the highest in it’s history.

Held the 21st Annual SPLASH. First event utilizing new digital ticket platform.

29 Food Vendors including the Dave & Buster’s Lounge and 30 Beverage Vendors 2nd year providing wineries the opportunity to sell bottles at the event.

Approximately 1,000 tickets sold.

Provided new entertainment with Notorious and, back by popular demand, the Steel Drum Band.

4th Annual “People’s Choice Awards”, Winners were Best Food – Sienna, Best Beverage – Lemon Drops from La Provence, Best Dessert – Icing on the Cupcake, and Best Décor- Pinot’s Palette.

The event raised $11,899 for the City of Roseville’s At Risk Youth Program.

SYLVIA BESANA ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARADE

• Held the 55th Annual Sylvia Besana Annual Holiday Parade, Roseville’s longest standing tradition.

• Partnered with the Downtown Roseville Partnership to plan and host the parade, which will be

transitioned in 2017.

• Expanded community reach and offered businesses additional marketing opportunities

through the 1st parade “pre-event” in Vernon Street Town Square.

2016 AT A GLANCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

January meeting discussed the proposed Campus Oaks Project on the land adjacent to HPE. Participated quarterly in joint meetings with Rocklin, Lincoln, and Auburn Chambers.

V.P. of Economic & Government Affairs served as Chamber representative to the City’s Economic Development Advisory Committee; providing direction to the City Council on economic development issues.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

• Conducted monthly meetings with the following topics: Medical Marijuana, PG&E Pipeline

Safety Initiative, Placer County Air Pollution Control District, introduction of the new Parks & Recreation Director.

• Participated quarterly in joint meetings with Rocklin, Lincoln, and Auburn Chambers.

• The Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce testified at the Roseville City Council meeting and

at the County Board of Supervisors meeting against the outdoor cultivation of medical marijuana.

The measure was defeated by the Board of Supervisors.

The PAC endorsed Bill Halldin & contributed to his campaign. His bid was unsuccessful in the June primary.

The PAC endorsed incumbent Kirk Uhler for District 4 Supervisor & contributed to his campaign. He was re-elected.

The PAC interviewed candidates running for Roseville City Council- the PAC endorsed and contributed to Bonnie Gore, John Allard, and Richard Roccucci.

The PAC supported Measure M (transportation sales tax) & contributed to the campaign.

The PAC successfully supported Measure D (high school bond measure) & contributed to the campaign.

The PAC voted in August to support Kevin Kiley for the 6th District Assembly Race.

The PAC voted to contributed to a citywide mailer to promote our three candidates running for City Council.

In total, the PAC contributed $34,200 in 2016 leaving a bank balance of $4,506.71 as of September 30th, 2016.

ROSEVILLE 2016

• Roseville 2016 was a sold out event held on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Bayside - Granite Bay.

• Hosted a networking breakfast before the event; increasing traffic to the “Trendshow”.

• Roseville 2016 featured an informative panelist breakout that focused on Top Social Media Trends

to Connect and Influence Your Ideal Customer.

• 741 tickets were sold.

• Presented, along with GALLINA LLP, Young Professional of the Year, Business Person of the Year,

and Entrepreneur Award.

• Sips and Sweets VIP Reception hosted by Westfield Galleria at Roseville.

Assisted in campaign to re-brand the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Action Plan:

Board Goals: • All Board Members know and can verbalize the mission statement of the Chamber.

• All Board Members refer at least 4 new prospects to the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Membership Division: • Grow net membership to $120,000 in new dues revenue & a 2% increase in retention rate.

• Host biannual New Member Mixers with at least 20 new members in attendance.

• Increase representation of mid-sized & large sized businesses within Ignite.

Community Development Division: • Concentrate & reinforce efforts to attract 30 outstanding applicants to the Leadership Roseville Program.

• Continue/enhance the collaboration with local school districts to provide an update on the

“State of Education” and concentrate efforts on the scholastic and performance recognition of outstanding

students & teachers including one luncheon featuring the Superintendents.

• Provide support and resources for a successful SPLASH event in September with the objective of increasing

overall revenue by 5% over 2016.

• Develop & implement a comprehensive collaborative program among local business owners & various college level entities with the Chamber being utilized as a conduit for connecting students with business.

Government & Economic Development Division: • Reengage & form a meaningful partnership with the Small Business Development Center.

• Representation on the City’s EDAC board.

• Continue to advocate for business-friendly legislation in Roseville, Placer County and California.

• Facilitate 4 collaborative meetings on legislative issues impacting the South Placer Area.

• Host annual PAC fundraiser.

• Increase Involvement in Gov’t Affairs & Econ. Development Committee.
