Of all the accomplishments that 2017 brought us, we are perhaps most proud of our collaboration with the El Dorado County Joint Chambers Commission, as well as the Elk Grove, Folsom and Rancho Cordova Chambers of Commerce, to create the United Chamber Advocacy Network (UCAN). This brand new program will amplify the voice of our members and leverage lawmakers’ interest in small business to advance policies that enable the success of California’s Businesses.
Local chambers of commerce have a difficult time staffing and sustaining public policy and advocacy efforts, particularly at the state level. UCAN provides local chambers of commerce with an affordable way to hire their own lobbyist to help chamber leaders define and advance a state level policy agenda of primary importance to their members. We hope that our frequent meetings with this network will lead to an even greater business environment in the Roseville area and beyond.
President’s Circle Award We are also incredibly proud of receiving the CalChamber President’s Circle Award for the fifth consecutive year. The award, first presented in 2009, recognizes chambers for excellence in business advocacy and helping their members comply with California employment laws.

2017 In Review Leadership Roseville Chair - Bonnie Gore, Kaiser Permanente Medical Center In 2017 we concluded year 21 of our Leadership Roseville program, which is designed to educate and develop effective community leaders who will help create a spirit of cooperation for the resolution of future community challenges. We graduated 27 students and held a successful Graduation Dinner, inviting both graduates and alumni.
SPLASH Co-Chairs - Kate Rebello, City of Roseville and Anne Carpenter, ATS Communications, Inc. Last year we held the 22nd Annual SPLASH. It was an amazing event that included 34 food vendors, including the TopGolf Lounge, and 30 beverage vendors (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic). The event officially sold out the week prior to the event with over 1,300 attendees, and we raised $17,281 for the City of Roseville’s At-Risk Youth Program! The 80’z All Stars band rocked the night away and, back by popular demand, the Steel Drum Band performed. The 5th Annual “People’s Choice Awards” Winners were: Best Food – Sienna Restaurant Best Beverage - Lemon Drops from La Provence Best Dessert – Intoxicakes Best Décor- TopGolf

Community Development Division
VP Doug Wagemann Cochrane & Wagemann Workforce Development In 2017, we sponsored the 26th Annual Student Recognition program. Chamber representatives attended the Middle School awards ceremony and presented the award to one outstanding student from each Middle School. Additionally, the Chamber luncheon in October honored one outstanding teacher from each of the four school districts. Efforts continued to coordinate an Intern/ Workforce Development Program with Sierra College, Sacramento State, and William Jessup University. This program will develop workforce/student connections and opportunities so that students remain in our community after graduation. In March, a workshop was held and about 30 businesses attended to learn how to integrate an internship program into their business, and, in September, a survey was sent out to Rocklin, Loomis, Lincoln & Roseville Chamber members to figure out how to best integrate internship programs within our local businesses.

Economic Development & Government Affairs Division
VP Bill Halldin Halldin Public Relations Economic Development & Government Affairs Committee Co-Chairs – John Tallman, Westpark Communities & Colin Roe, Fidelity National Title Last year we merged the Economic Development & Government Affairs Committees, conducting monthly meetings with the following topics: City Outlook 2017, Meet Your New City Councilmembers, Adventist Health Plan, Quest, Higher Education in Downtown, Healthcare in Roseville and Retail Outlook. In addition, each meeting featured updates from the City, County, and State elected officials. We also participated in quarterly joint meetings with the Rocklin, Lincoln, and Auburn Chambers.

2017 In Review ROSEVILLE 2017 Co-Chairs – Lisa Heinrich, Big Brand Theory: Communication Elevated & Vance Jones, MacKay & Somps Civil Engineers, Inc. Roseville 2017 featured an informative panelist breakout facilitated by Kelly Brothers from Genovese, Burford & Brothers that focused on the Mega-Region concept & it’s impact and opportunity for Roseville and the local economy. The panel included: Barry Broome | CEO of the Greater Sacramento Economic Council Jeff Bellisario | Vice President of the Economic Institute for the Bay Area Council Gavin Farnam | Director of CBRE Margaret Mackenzie | Entreprenuer & Partnership Building Thanks to Ettore’s European Bakery & FSB Core Strategies we hosted a coffee & pastry bar before the event which gave more people a chance to attend and engage in the “Trendshow”. 51 exhibitor booths were featured with a focus on new trends in local business. 585 tickets were sold. We introduced “Roseville Talks” that included: The Entrepreneurial Revolution | Mark Haney Fake News: New Name, Same Old Story of Misleading the Public | Dr. Jessica Kriegel Roseville in 2017 | Chris Robles We also presented, along with CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, the Young Professional of the Year Award to Alex Rue of Alex Rue Insurance Agency, Inc., the Business Person of the Year Award to Doug Wagemann of Cochrane & Wagemann, and the Entrepreneur of the Year Award to Paul Gould, Andy Klein, and Tom Rotelli from The Monk’s Cellar. Additionally, there was a Sips and Sweets VIP Reception toward the end of the event, hosted by Westfield Galleria at Roseville.

2017 In Review IGNITE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS Chair – Alyssa White, Haney Business Ventures IGNITE Young Professionals hosted the 9th Annual Winter Bash event, which is an evening filled with casino games, food, drinks & music. They also introduced 2 new “Field Trip” Events focusing on Higher Education in Placer County (held at William Jessup University) and Agritourism In Placer County (held at Paza Winery). In addition, IGNITE held 4 Professional Development Seminars, 11 Happy Hour events, and the 2017 Influence Panel with the theme, “Risk Takers in Business.” Ignite members are now active in many Chamber committees, such as the Ambassador Team, Roseville 2017, MCC and SPLASH.
AMBASSADOR TEAM Chair – Garrett Vanneman, BLUEPRINT Financial and Insurance Services, LLC. The Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors are volunteers from the business community that serve as the public relations arm of the Chamber. In 2017 we had 26 amazing Ambassadors (20 have been an Ambassador 1+ years). We held 6 new Ambassador Orientations, hosted 2 Ambassador Dinners and scheduled/performed almost 100 ribbon cuttings! Additionally, communication between ambassadors was enhanced by integrating a new Facebook group.

VP Jeff Richardson Westfield Galleria at Roseville Membership Communication Council Chair – Charlie Harrison, Principal Financial Group Our Membership Communication Council coordinated monthly Seminars for Success events and hosted three Entrepreneurial Development Group events. They also hosted two New Member Mixers where they encouraged engagement during the 1st year of membership. In addition, they drafted and implemented a marketing plan for Members Supporting Members Campaign that included stickers (which were presented at our events), an EBlast, and a Commerce Insight article.
