Dear SMART clients, partners, and employees,

We hope everyone has been doing well! If you have a vacation coming up, we wish you the best time and that you will feel recharged and ready for work afterwards. It has been a great year so far and we all deserve a small break to re-energise ourselves for the rest of 2023!

In this edition of DEEP CUTS, we are happy to introduce a new segment: Meet the SMART Team. Although we are a rather small team, a lot of us work in different corners of the world and are often unable to see one another as often as we would like. Starting from this issue, every newsletter will include one member of the team in one short profile. This way, we can get to know one another, even if it is only through the computer screen and Teams calls!

This edition also brings you lots of updates. From New Zealand, we are pleased to share the grand prize winner of the Wave Runner promotion from earlier this year. Head on over to page 2 to find out the happy owner of this coveted Yamaha watercraft.

In UK and Europe, we are pleased to announce the launch of our new packaging. In line with our Zero100 promise, this new packaging does not contain any trace of plastic. Curious to see what it looks like? Flip over to page 6 to see. On top of that, our EU sales team has been busy meeting clients and supporting them in any way we can. See page 7 for the full list of countries we visited in the last quarter.

Business is booming as usual in Scandinavia, and in this newsletter, we shine a light on two of the best-selling blades in the region. Check out page 8 to see which blades made it to the top spots!

WAVE RUNNER PRIZE WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

We are absolutely thrilled to announce the conclusion of the Wave Runner draw lottery that was held earlier this year. The level of participation and enthusiasm that we witnessed from DIYers and tradespeople all over New Zealand was truly inspiring, with a grand total of 1500 entries received. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to enter and share in our excitement.

After much anticipation and nailbiting, we are delighted to reveal that the winner of the coveted and highly sought-after Yamaha Wave Runner is none other than Rueben Leask of

Renew Construction, based in the bustling city of Hamilton. We are sure Rueben will get some good mileage on his shiny new vehicle later in the year when the weather is warmer.

We would like to thank all of our partners for their support of the Wave Runner promotion, as it would not have been a success without them as well. Congratulations again to Rueben, and we look forward to seeing the Yamaha Wave Runner being put to use in the near future. MEET THE SMART TEAM: KEIN SHAH

As mentioned in the foreword, we are now including short profiles of our amazing team in each newsletter. For our first profile, we are pleased to introduce to you Kein Shah. He is the Supply Chain Coordinator for SMART Global, and he has been with us since September 2021. Let’s get to know him a bit better!

What does a normal week look like for you? Are you mostly in meetings, or would we be able to find you at your desk?

I do not have many meetings. However, I coordinate a lot of supply chain activities with various vendors and customers. I also work a lot of demand forecasting and data analysis daily to better manage the inventory. I spend a substantial amount of time on creating dashboards and reports for various departments ad hoc.

What are some things that help you to focus on work? Where do you work best: at the office or at home? Do you work better in the morning or in the afternoon?

I work best in the morning right after my morning tea. I usually work from home. Afternoons are mainly dedicated to back-end activities like creating dashboards, reports, order processing, inventory management, etc.

What are the best things about working at SMART? How does working at SMART make you better in your field?

Working at SMART is an enriching experience. The best thing about working at SMART is the innovative work environment. I feel lucky to have a manager like Mudy (Mahmoud Asaad, Head of Operations) who always supports and encourages me to try and learn new things. SMART also provides ample opportunities and time for skill development and continuous learning. Additionally, SMART offers a supportive and inclusive community, where individuals come from diverse backgrounds come

together to achieve common goals. This diversity fosters a rich learning environment and promotes cross-functional collaboration.

It’s important to work hard AND play hard. Outside of work, what do you like to do? What are your hobbies?

Outside of work, I like to cook and socialise. Cooking is like a stress reliever for me, and with friends around, it helps a lot to keep myself away from becoming yet another Netflix addict. I also spend a considerable amount of time creating content for my YouTube channel and help international students in any way I can. In the weekends or breaks, I love to travel and explore the

world. I enjoy road trips, wandering through historic cities, visiting beautiful beaches, short treks in the mountains or simply driving endlessly in the highlands. For me, travel is an incredible adventure that opens doors to new discoveries, cultures, memories and people. Before going to bed, I like to read up on the global news and plan or prepare for the next day. I sleep early and get up early as well.

What’s your go-to drink for when you’re working?

Tea, always. Being from India, I have grown up being almost addicted to tea.

Since our last newsletter, the EU team has been quite busy traveling across several countries to meet with our esteemed customers. We have visited Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, France, the UK, and even Australia - just to name a few! In total, we have been to 11 different countries, and we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to connect with our clients in person.

We had a few packed months leading up to the summer holiday season in the northern hemisphere. During this time, we were able to engage with our customers, understand their unique needs,

and provide tailored solutions to meet their requirements. We are committed to building strong relationships with our clients, and our recent travels have allowed us to do just that.

As we head into the holiday season, we are excited to continue working with our customers to provide them with the best possible service. We believe that our dedication to customer satisfaction and our willingness to go the extra mile (or thousand miles, in this case!) sets us apart from our competitors. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our clients and look forward to continuing to do so in the future.
