When considering pile weight for machine-tufted product, keep in mind that half the fibers are concealed between the primary and secondary backing and this is included in the pile weight. With Axminster, the fibers are woven together in a U shaped tuft with all the fiber weight on top which produces a denser product that is extremely durable and will perform under heavy traffic.
