BY ROYAL THAI x MOJO & MUSE

The depth of the wool.
The soul of the stitch.
One artistic vision.

A single thread can carry an entire story, whether in embroidery or in a carpet—guided with quiet intention, shaped with gentle imagination, and revealed in a beauty that endures. This is a shared craft of balance, care, and vision, where the artisan’s hands patiently turn simple fibres into rich, threedimensional landscapes.

Royal Thai collaborated with artist Manoela Grigorova of Mojo & Muse to create Botánica. Her deep devotion to the expressive potential of thread, and her thoughtful, handcrafted process, are at the core of this collection. Through her careful attention to intricate details, layered textures, and varied materials, each canvas gains a resonant depth that both honors and reflects the precise, sculptural nature of carpet making.

Together, we have sought to bring the intimacy and elegance of fine embroidery to larger textiles for the hospitality world. By bringing these two cherished traditions together, we hope to encourage you to look again—with openness and quiet curiosity—at what you know about how carpets and embroidered artwork are created. Within every piece lies more time, care, and devotion than you might expect—and an invitation to be moved by the stories that unfold beneath your feet and before your eyes.

A BLOOMED CONSTELLATION

COMMISSIONED ARTWORK, 2025 | 30.5 x 30.5 x 1.5CM

An explosion of maximalist texture, A Bloomed Constellation (pictured right), allows the spontaneous flow of a celestial alcohol ink wash to dictate where the needle lands. Winding pathways of gold and lilac yarns snake across the canvas, alongside intricate running, straight, and bullion stitches that form magnificent floral structures. The 'Golden Thread', clusters of gold and ochre French knots serve as an added detail weaving through the rich composition, while new and salvaged glass beads gather like stardust across the surface.

THE MET RUG

Recoloured and subtly refined after its debut at the Met, this rug is thoughtfully crafted from a premium blend of wool and silken fibres. Alternating cut and loop stipples thoughtfully mirror the structural contrast between raised French knots and flat satin stitching. In doing so, they carefully interpret the varied stitch weights of hand embroidery, shaping them into a rich, sculptural depth that quietly unfolds with every step taken across its surface.

THE PROCESS & SUSTAINABILITY

"Fascinated by life's contradictions, my work balances the intuitive and the methodical. Working with fibre is a slow, meditative process that demands complete presence, allowing me to transform emotion into art with every single stitch. This mindset also drives my passion for sustainability, leading me to limit excess waste by weaving pre-loved and upcycled elements throughout my pieces."

—Manoela Grigorova

THE CARPET

This design seamlessly merges standard wool with resilient semi-worsted fibres, utilizing a balanced mix of loop-tufting techniques and stria to recall the deconstructed florals found in fine embroidery. Together, these elements capture the meditative quality of needle painting—the classic long-and-short-stitch method used to create painterly, seamless shifts in colour.

SUSPENDED BLOSSOM

COMMISSIONED ARTWORK, 2025 | 30 x 40 x 1.5CM

Against a soft background of flowing alcohol ink that guides the composition's direction, intricate layers of straight, running, and bullion stitches emerge like weightless, blooming flowers. Grigorova’s signature golden thread - a metaphorical "vine of life" woven through subtle clusters of ochre French knots, acts as another feature connecting the botanical forms. Fan-like thread bursts shape elegant petals, accented by a rich mix of new and salvaged glass beads that balance the airy, negative space of the canvas.

HAND TUFTED

KH090183R001

Crafted from 100% pure wool, this design artfully layers subtle heathered cuts and loops over a plush, solid cut pile. The result is a dense, richly textured surface that channels the organic depth of alcohol ink and the quiet dimensionality of raised beading.

HAND TUFTED | KH090179R001

This design is a masterclass in hand tufting, revealing new layers of structural detail from every angle. It showcases the artisan’s skill, demanding a meticulous, disciplined hand to interlace multi-tonal heathering with dense, precisely clustered stipple loops. By transitioning between these techniques, the tufter creates tactile rhythm in the premium wool and semi-worsted blend, turning a fluid, winding pattern into a feat of textile engineering.

MEET MANOELA

London-based mixed media and hand-embroidery artist Manoela Grigorova is an emerging talent who creates intuitive, layered abstract works. Exploring bold colour, rich texture, and life's contradictions, her visual language fuses spontaneous fluid ink with the slow, methodical rhythm of hand embroidery and beadwork. Influenced by Surrealism, Pointillism, and Abstract Expressionism, Grigorova translates the natural world into wondrous abstract landscapes, drawing from florals, corals, fungi, and microscopic structures. Dedicated to sustainability, she incorporates salvaged materials, honoring previous makers while blending craft, fine art, and environmental storytelling. Exhibited across the UK, her pieces are held in private collections worldwide. Through her work, she elevates fibre art into the contemporary landscape, demonstrating that embroidery and beading are not just surface adornment, but the primary medium with which she expresses her vision.

Grigorova’s fascination with texture began during her childhood in Bulgaria, surrounded by folklore, vibrant textiles, tapestries, and ornate rugs. Moving to London following the fall of Communism, she studied Art, Fashion Design, and Photography, but left the fashion industry for a more meaningful path. Creating became her ultimate sanctuary, particularly during 2020, allowing her to process emotions through the meditative act of stitching. This collaboration with Royal Thai represents a profound return to her childhood roots, scaling her intricate art into a new dimension. Grigorova’s signature aesthetic is a fundamental, tactile invitation - a deliciously touch-worthy experience designed to spark curiosity and joy. —

“This collaboration with Royal Thai has been a fullcircle journey for me. My earliest childhood memories come from the tapestries and rugs hung on walls like art in a gallery, and both grandmas weaving, sewing, rugmaking, sparking a lifelong fascination with textures and textiles. This collection brings that history into the present, drawing inspiration from natural, botanical forms whilst celebrating texture on a grand scale."
