The range of Van Gogh brushes offers a wide choice for every painting technique.
The brush The brush consists of a hair bundle, a ferrule and a handle. A Van Gogh brush has a ferrule made of nickel-plated brass, which guarantees a high quality. The length of the handle depends on the intended use. Brush handles are of different lengths. Short brushes are mainly used for work that is produced flat on the table and for small paintings. Long-handled brushes are an extension of the arm for larger works. In this way while painting the artist can be further away from the painting and thereby gain a better view of the whole. Van Gogh brushes are varnished to protect them against moisture (solvents) and dirt. All Van Gogh brushes have received either a blue or a transparent varnish. Silver-coloured text printed on every Van Gogh brush indicates the series number and the type of hair used. In addition to the series number, the number of the thickness of the hair bundle is also indicated. The numbering of brushes in relation to thickness varies from country to country, from manufacturer to manufacturer, and even from series to series within a range.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE A BRUSH? For thicker types of paint, such as oil and acrylic paint, brushes made of firmer hog hair are usually used. When using these paints for finer painting techniques, whereby the paint is thinned, ox hair and in particular red sable hair are also suitable. For inks and types of paint that are thinned a great deal, such as Indian ink and water colour, brushes with soft hairs in particular are suitable, such as red sable hair, goat hair and ox hair. Brushes of selected filament (synthetic fibre) are suitable for all types of paint. Selected filament is resilient and above all has good water absorption. With thicker types of paint the type of hair has a major effect on the brush stroke. The firmer the hair, the more visible the brush stroke.
Types of hair and their properties Although synthetic fibres are becoming increasingly popular, many brushes are made of natural types of hair. Top-quality brushes all have one thing in common: they are all hand-made. Master-brush makers are responsible for top-of-the-range products where quality is brought to perfection. For hair bundles derived from animal hair it is important to look at which part of the animal the hair comes from. For example, this can be exclusively the tail or ear, depending on the animal. In a very elaborate process the hairs are cut by hand and sorted according to length and colour, whereby each hair has to be aligned such that the natural points are all pointing in the same direction. Special combs are then used to remove the wool between the hairs. When making brushes, the brush makers have a feel for taking precisely enough hair for the particular brush size. The trained hands of the makers form the hair bundle and bind them into a perfect shape, and then set them in the ferrule.

BRUSH SHAPES In theory all types of hair can be shaped into any form. Each setting gives its own characteristic brush stroke (touch) which in turn is influenced by the type of hair used. The hair bundle is usually glued into shape to prevent damage to the hair during transport. As a result the shape of the hair bundle, stiffened and unstiffened, may vary.
Round-tipped brush Round brushes with a sharp point can only be made of soft types of hair or polyester. The hairs inside the brush are longer than those on the outside. When the brush is dry and unglued the tip of the brush looks round. The point is formed as soon as the brush is wetted.
Gussow A Gussow is a flat brush with a straight tip, named after the Munich artist Gussow. The length of the hair is at least as great as the width. Both the width and the thickness of the brush can be used, depending on the brush stroke required.
Cat’s tongue This shape of brush combines the advantages of a flat and a round brush. While the hair bundle is glued the brush appears to be sharply pointed. When the glue is removed its real shape becomes visible.

Round brush A round brush is set in the same way as a roundtipped brush in, for example, sable hair. Because of the stiff hog bristle a sharp point will not be formed when wet. The round brush can also be interlocked, when several curved bundles are bound together.
Fan brush A fan brush enables smooth transitions in oil paints from one colour to another. First the transition from colour to colour is painted as well as possible with, for instance, a soft-haired Gussow. By fanning gently over the top of this with a fan brush one can eliminate the last traces of the brush stroke. A fan brush is also ideal for producing gentle paint transitions in dry pastel techniques.
Spalter A spalter is a very wide flat brush and can be used to paint extremely large areas. Hog bristle spalters are often used for preparing a ground (e.g. linen). Spalters made of softer types of hair and of hog bristle also make good varnishing brushes.

Het Van Gogh penselenassortiment biedt voor elke schildertechniek een ruime keuze.
Het penseel Het penseel bestaat uit een kwast (de haarbundel), een huls en een steel. Een Van Gogh penseel heeft een huls, vervaardigd van vernikkeld messing, waarmee een hoge kwaliteit wordt gegarandeerd. De lengte van de steel is afhankelijk van het gebruiksdoel. Penseelstelen zijn er in verschillende lengtes. Korte penselen worden vooral gebruikt voor werk dat plat op tafel wordt gemaakt en voor kleine schilderijtjes. Langgesteelde penselen vormen een verlengstuk van de arm bij grotere werkstukken. Al schilderend kan zo meer afstand genomen worden van het schilderij en kan het totaal beter overzien worden. Van Gogh penseelstelen worden gelakt, waardoor ze beschermd zijn tegen vocht (oplosmiddelen) en vuil. Alle Van Gogh penselen zijn blauw of transparant gelakt. Een Van Gogh penseel heeft een zilverkleurige bedrukking, die het serienummer en de haarsoort aangeeft. Naast het serienummer is ook het nummer van de dikte van de haarbundel aangegeven. De nummering van penselen in relatie tot de dikte kan verschillen van land tot land, van producent tot producent en zelfs van serie tot serie binnen een assortiment.

HOE KIES JE EEN PENSEEL? Voor dikkere verfsoorten, zoals olie- en acrylverf, worden vaak stuggere penselen van varkenshaar gebruikt. Voor fijnschildertechnieken met deze verfsoorten, waarbij de verf wordt verdund, is ook runderoren haar en met name rood marterhaar geschikt. Voor inkten en verfsoorten die sterk worden verdund, zoals Oostindische inkt en aquarelverf, zijn vooral penselen geschikt met zachtere haarsoorten, zoals rood marterhaar, geitenhaar en runderoren haar. Penselen van selected filament (synthetische vezel) zijn geschikt voor alle verfsoorten. Selected filament is veerkrachtig en heeft bovendien een goed vochtopname vermogen. Bij dikkere verfsoorten is het type haar van invloed op de penseelstreek. Hoe stugger het haar, hoe sterker de penseelstreek zichtbaar zal zijn.
Haarsoorten en hun eigenschappen Alhoewel synthetische vezels steeds meer hun intrede doen, worden veel penselen gemaakt van natuurlijke haarsoorten. Penselen van de beste kwaliteit hebben allemaal ĂŠĂŠn ding gemeen: ze zijn stuk voor stuk met de hand gemaakt. De meesterpenseelmakers of -maaksters zijn verantwoordelijk voor de topproducten waar kwaliteit tot perfectie wordt gebracht. Voor dierlijke haarsoorten is het belangrijk van welk lichaamsdeel het haar afkomstig is. Dat kan bijvoorbeeld uitsluitend van de staart of van de oren zijn, afhankelijk van het dier. In een zeer bewerkelijk proces worden de haren handmatig afgeknipt en gesorteerd op lengte en kleur, waarbij elk haartje met de natuurlijke punt in dezelfde richting moet blijven liggen. Vervolgens wordt met speciale kammetjes de wol tussen de haren verwijderd. Bij het maken van de penselen wordt iedere keer op gevoel precies genoeg haar gepakt voor een bepaalde maat penseel. Door geschoolde vingers wordt de haarbundel gevormd en gebonden tot het perfecte model en vastgezet in de bus.

PENSEELVORMEN Elke haarsoort kan in principe in elke vorm gezet worden. Iedere zetting geeft haar eigen karakteristieke penseelstreek (toets) die weer beĂŻnvloed wordt door de gebruikte haarsoort. De haarbundel wordt meestal door de producent in vorm verlijmd om beschadiging van het haar tijdens transport te voorkomen. Hierdoor kan de vorm van de haarbundel gesteven en ongesteven verschillend zijn.
Rond gepunt penseel Ronde penselen met een scherpe punt kunnen alleen gemaakt worden van zachtehaarsoorten of polyester. De haren binnen in het penseel zijn langer gezet dan de haren aan de buitenzijde. Is het penseel droog en ongelijmd dan is de top van het penseel rond. De punt vormt zich zodra het penseel benat wordt.
Gussow Een Gussow is een plat penseel met een recht uiteinde, genoemd naar de MĂźnchense kunstschilder Gussow. De lengte van het haar is tenminste gelijk aan de breedte. Zowel de breedte als de dikte van het penseel kan gebruikt worden afhankelijk van de gewenste toets.
Kattentong In deze penseelvorm zijn de voordelen van een plat penseel en een rond gepunt penseel verenigd. Zolang de haarbundel verlijmd is lijkt het penseel scherp gepunt te zijn. Na verwijdering van de lijm wordt de werkelijke vorm zichtbaar.

Ronde borstel Een ronde borstel wordt hetzelfde gezet als een rond gepunt penseel van bijvoorbeeld marterhaar. Door het stugge varkenshaar zal bij benatting van het penseel geen punt worden gevormd. Ook een ronde borstel kan interlocked zijn, waarbij meerdere naar binnen gekromde bundels tegen elkaar worden gebonden.
Waaierpenseel Met een waaierpenseel kunnen volkomen gladde overgangen in olieverf worden gemaakt van ĂŠĂŠn kleur naar een andere. Eerst wordt de overgang van kleur naar kleur zo goed mogelijk geschilderd met bijvoorbeeld een zachtharige Gussow. Door hier zachtjes overheen te waaieren met een waaierpenseel verdwijnen de laatste sporen van de penseelstreek. Ook is een waaierpenseel zeer geschikt om bij droge pasteltechnieken zachte kleurovergangen te maken.
Spalter Een spalter is een zeer brede platte borstel of penseel en kan gebruikt worden om grote stukken in te schilderen. Varkensharen spalters worden ook gebruikt om een ondergrond (bijvoorbeeld linnen) te prepareren. Spalters van zachtere haarsoorten zowel als van varkenshaar zijn tevens goede verniskwasten.

Der Pinsel Der Pinsel besteht aus einem Quast (Haarbündel), einer Zwinge und einem Stiel. Ein Van Gogh Pinsel hat eine vernickelte Zwinge, mit der eine hohe Qualität garantiert wird. Die Stiellänge ist abhängig vom Gebrauchszweck. Pinselstiele gibt es in unterschiedlichen Längen. Kurze Pinsel werden vor allem für flach auf dem Tisch liegende Arbeiten und für kleinere Bilder verwendet. Langstielige Pinsel bilden eine Verlängerung des Armes bei größeren Werkstücken. Während des Arbeitens kann auf diese Weise Abstand vom Bild genommen werden, so dass man das Gesamtbild besser überschauen kann. Van Gogh Pinselstiele werden lackiert, um sie vor Feuchtigkeit (Lösungsmittel) und Schmutz zu schützen. Alle Van Gogh Pinsel sind blau oder transparent lackiert. Ein Van Gogh Pinsel hat einen silberfarbenen Aufdruck, der die Seriennummer und die Haarsorte angibt. Neben der Seriennummer wird auch die Nummer der Dicke des Haarbündels angegeben. Die Nummerierung von Pinseln hinsichtlich der Dicke kann per Land, per Produzent und sogar per Serie innerhalb eines Sortiments variieren.

WIE WÄHLT MAN EINEN PINSEL AUS? Für dickflüssigere, pastose Farbsorten wie Öl- und Acrylfarbe werden oft festere Pinsel aus Schweineborsten verwendet. Für die Technik des Malens feinster Details mit diesen Farbsorten, bei der die Farbe verdünnt wird, eignen sich Rinderohrenhaar und vor allem Rotmarderhaar. Für Tinten und Farbsorten, die stark verdünnt werden, wie Chinesische Zeichentusche und Aquarellfarbe, eignen sich vor allem Pinsel mit weicheren Haarsorten wie Rotmarderhaar, Ziegenhaar und Rinderohrenhaar. Pinsel aus Selected Filament (Synthetikfasern) eignen sich für alle Farbsorten. Selected Filament ist elastisch und kann darüber hinaus gut Feuchtigkeit aufnehmen. Bei dickflüssigeren Farbsorten beeinflusst der Haartyp den Pinselstrich. Je fester das Haar, desto sichtbarer wird der Pinselstrich.
Haarsorten und ihre Eigenschaften Obwohl immer öfter Synthetikfasern verwendet werden, werden noch viele Pinsel aus natürlichen Haarsorten hergestellt. Pinsel der besten Qualität haben eine Gemeinsamkeit: Sie werden alle per Hand gefertigt. Die Meister(innen) der Pinselherstellung sind für Topprodukte verantwortlich, die zur Perfektion gebracht werden. Bei tierischen Haarsorten ist es wichtig, von welchem Körperteil das Haar stammt. Dabei kann es sich beispielsweise – abhängig vom Tier - ausschließlich um die Haare von den Ohren handeln. In einem arbeitsintensiven Prozess werden die Haare mit der Hand abgeschnitten und nach Länge und Farbe sortiert, wobei jedes einzelne Haar mit der natürlichen Spitze in derselben Richtung liegen muss. Daraufhin wird mit Spezialkämmen die Wolle zwischen den Haaren entfernt. Bei der Pinselherstellung wird jedes Mal nach Gefühl genau die richtige Menge an Haaren für ein bestimmtes Pinselmaß (Größe) genommen. Geschulte Finger formen das Haarbündel und binden es zu einem perfekten Modell, das in der Zwinge fest eingefasst wird.

PINSELFORMEN Jede Haarsorte kann im Prinzip in jede Form gefasst werden. Jede in der Zwinge gefasste Form ergibt ihren eigenen charakteristischen Pinselstrich, welcher wiederum von der verwendeten Haarsorte beeinflusst wird. Das Haarbündel wird meist vom Hersteller in der Form verleimt, um Haarschäden während des Transports zu verhindern. Dadurch kann sich die Form des Haarbündels im festen bzw. verleimten Zustand von derjenigen im ausgewaschenen Zustand unterscheiden.
Rund zugespitzter Pinsel Runde Pinsel mit einer scharfen Spitze können nur aus weichen Haarsorten oder Polyester hergestellt werden. Die Haare in der Mitte des Haarbündels werden länger gefasst als die Haare am Rand des Bündels. Wenn der Pinsel trocken und unverleimt ist, ist die Spitze des Pinsels noch etwas stumpf. Die richtige Spitze formt sich, sobald der Pinsel befeuchtet wird.
Gussow Ein Gussow ist ein flacher Pinsel mit einem geraden Ende, benannt nach dem Münchner Kunstmaler Gussow. Die Haarlänge ist mindestens so lang wie ihre Breite. Sowohl die breite Seite als auch die dicke Seite des Pinsels kann - abhängig vom gewünschten Pinselstrich - verwendet werden.
Katzenzunge IIn dieser Pinselform sind die Vorteile eines flachen Pinsels und eines rund zugespitzten Pinsels vereinigt. Solange das Haarbündel verleimt ist, scheint der Pinsel scharf zugespitzt zu sein. Nach der Entfernung des Leims wird die echte Form sichtbar.

Runder Borstenpinsel Ein runder Borstenpinsel wird genau wie ein rund zugespitzter Pinsel gefasst, beispielsweise aus Marderhaaren. Durch die festen Schweineborsten formt sich bei der Befeuchtung aber keine Spitze. Auch ein runder Borstenpinsel kann „interlocked“ sein, d. h. mehrere nach innen gekrümmte Bündel werden gegeneinander gesetzt gefasst.
Fächerpinsel Mit einem Fächerpinsel können vollkommen glatte Ölfarbübergange von einer Farbe zur anderen geschaffen werden. Zuerst wird der Übergang von Farbe zu Farbe so gut wie möglich gemalt, zum Beispiel mit einem weichhaarigen Gussow. Indem man leicht mit dem Fächerpinsel über die Übergänge fächert, verschwinden die letzten Spuren des Pinselstrichs. Außerdem ist ein Fächerpinsel sehr gut dazu geeignet, bei Techniken mit trockenen Pastellen weiche Farbübergänge zu kreieren.
Spalter Ein Spalter ist ein sehr breiter, flacher Borstenpinsel und kann für das Malen großer Farbflächen verwendet werden. Spalter aus Schweineborsten werden auch zum Präparieren eines Maluntergrunds (zum Beispiel Leinen) benutzt. Spalter mit weicheren Haarsorten oder aus Schweineborsten sind darüber hinaus gute Pinsel zum Firnissen.

Le pinceau Le pinceau est composé d’une brosse (touffe de poils), d’une virole et d’une hampe. Le pinceau Van Gogh a une virole en laiton nickelé, ce qui garantit une bonne qualité. La longueur de la hampe dépend de l’objectif d’emploi. Les hampes existent en différentes longueurs. Les pinceaux courts sont surtout utilisés pour des travaux à plat sur une table ou des petites toiles. Les pinceaux à hampe longue sont comme une rallonge du bras pour les grandes œuvres. On peut s’éloigner de l’œuvre en peignant et on peut donc mieux tout saisir d’un coup d’œil. Les pinceaux Van Gogh sont laqués, ce qui les protège de l’humidité (solvants) et des saletés. Tous les pinceaux Van Gogh sont laqués bleu ou transparent. Un pinceau Van Gogh est pourvu d’une impression indiquant le numéro de la série et le type de poils. En plus du numéro de la série, la grosseur de la touffe de poils est mentionnée. La numérotation des pinceaux en fonction de la grosseur peut varier d’un pays à l’autre, d’un fabricant à l’autre et même d’une série à l’autre au sein d’un assortiment.

COMMENT CHOISIR UN PINCEAU? On utilise souvent des pinceaux plutôt raides en soies de porc pour les peintures plus onctueuses, telles que les couleurs à l’huile et les acryliques. Quand on dilue ces peintures pour des techniques plus fines, on peut aussi utiliser des pinceaux en poils d’oreille de bœuf et surtout en poils de martre rouge. Pour les encres et les peintures fortement diluées, comme l’encre de Chine et l’aquarelle, les pinceaux adéquats ont des poils plus doux, comme des poils de martre rouge (Kolinsky), des poils de chèvre et des poils d’oreille de bœuf. Les pinceaux en filament (fibres synthétiques) conviennent à tous les types de peinture. Le filament est élastique et a un bon pouvoir d’absorption. Pour les peintures onctueuses, le type de poils influe sur le coup de pinceau. Plus les poils sont raides, plus le coup de pinceau sera visible.
Types de poils et leurs caractéristiques Bien que les fibres synthétiques se répandent de plus en plus, de nombreux pinceaux sont toujours fabriqués à base de poils naturels. Tous les pinceaux de la meilleure qualité ont un point commun : ils sont tous faits à la main. Les maîtres dans la fabrication de pinceaux sont responsables pour des produits de pointe où la qualité est transformée en perfection. Pour les poils d’animaux, il est important de savoir de quelle partie du corps ils proviennent. En fonction de l’animal, ceux-ci peuvent venir uniquement de la queue ou des oreilles. Les poils sont coupés à la main selon un procédé exigeant beaucoup de travail. Ils sont triés par longueur et couleur en faisant attention à ce que toutes les pointes naturelles soient posées dans la même direction. Ensuite, à l’aide de petits peignes spéciaux, on enlève la laine qui se trouve entre les poils. Pour fabriquer les pinceaux, on prélève à la main exactement la bonne quantité de poils nécessaire pour un pinceau d’un certain format. La touffe de poils est formée et reliée dans une forme parfaite par des doigts entraînés et elle est ensuite fixée dans la virole.

FORMES DE PINCEAU Tous les types de poils peuvent être mis dans n’importe quelle forme. Chaque mise en virole donne son propre coup de pinceau caractéristique qui à son tour est influencé par le type de poils utilisé. La touffe de poils est souvent collée en forme par le fabricant pour éviter l’endommagement pendant le transport. Voilà pourquoi la forme de la touffe de poils peut être différente si elle est amidonnée ou pas.
Pinceau à pointe arrondie Les pinceaux avec des pointes aigues peuvent seulement être fabriqués avec des poils doux ou en polyester. Les poils à l’intérieur du pinceau sont plus longs que ceux à l’extérieur. Quand le pinceau est sec et non collé, alors l’extrémité sera arrondie. La pointe prend sa forme dès que le pinceau est mouillé.
Gussow Un Gussow est un pinceau plat avec une extrémité droite. Il porte le nom de l’artiste peintre Gussow provenant de Munich. La longueur des poils est au moins identique à la largeur. En fonction du coup de pinceau désiré, on peut utiliser aussi bien la largeur que la grosseur du pinceau.
Langue de chat Ce pinceau réunit les avantages d’un pinceau plat et d’un pinceau à pointe ronde. Tant que la touffe de poils est collée, le pinceau semble être pointu. Après l’enlèvement de la colle, la forme réelle apparaît.

Brosse ronde Une brosse ronde est fixée comme un pinceau à pointe ronde (de poils de martre rouge par exemple). Grâce aux soies de porc raides, le pinceau ne sera pas pointu en état mouillé. Une brosse ronde peut aussi être interlocked, ce qui signifie que plusieurs touffes courbant vers l’intérieur sont fixées l’une contre l’autre.
Éventail Avec un pinceau éventail, on peut obtenir des transitions parfaitement lisses d’une couleur à l’autre en utilisant des couleurs à l’huile. D’abord, on peint la transition d’une couleur à l’autre aussi bien que possible avec un pinceau Gussow à poils doux. En repassant doucement avec un éventail, on enlève les dernières traces du coup de pinceau. Un pinceau éventail convient aussi très bien pour créer des transitions de couleur fluides en pastel.
Spalter Un spalter est une brosse ou un pinceau très large et plat qui peut être utilisé pour peindre des grandes surfaces. Les spalters en soies de porc sont aussi utilisés pour préparer des supports (par exemple du lin). Les spalters en poils plus doux et en soies de porc conviennent aussi à l’application d’un vernis.

El pincel El pincel consta del pelo (el haz), la virola y el mango. La virola de los pinceles Van Gogh está fabricada de latón niquelado, lo que garantiza la mejor calidad posible. La longitud del mango depende del uso al que está destinado el pincel. Hay mangos de diferentes longitudes. Los pinceles cortos se usan generalmente para trabajar horizontalmente sobre la mesa o para cuadros pequeños. Los pinceles de mango largo forman una prolongación del brazo cuando se trabaja en obras de gran formato. Así, al pintar, uno puede distanciarse del cuadro para obtener una visión de conjunto. Los pinceles Van Gogh están lacados para protegerlos de la humedad (disolventes) y la suciedad. Todos los pinceles Van Gogh están lacados en azul o en transparente. La impresión es de color plata e indica el número de serie y el tipo de pelo. Además, se menciona también el número del grosor del haz de pelo. ¿CÓMO ESCOGER EL PINCEL? Para las pinturas más densas, como el óleo y el acrílico, se suelen usar pinceles de pelo rígido como el pelo de cerda. Con estas mismas pinturas, pero con técnicas finas, en las que la pintura se diluye, también son aptos el pelo de oreja de buey y, muy especialmente, el de marta roja. Con tintas y tipos de pintura que se diluyen fuertemente, como la tinta china y la acuarela, son más aptos los pinceles de pelos suaves, como marta roja (Kolinsky), pelo de cabra y oreja de buey. Los pinceles de filamento selecto (fibra sintética) son aptos para todos los tipos de pintura. El filamento selecto es muy flexible y además tiene buena capacidad de retención de líquidos. En pinturas muy espesas, el tipo de pelo determina la pincelada. Cuanto más rígido el pelo, más marcada será la pincelada.
Tipos de pelo y propiedades Aunque las fibras sintéticas se usen cada vez más, muchos pinceles se elaboran de tipos de pelo natural. Los pinceles de las mejores calidades tienen un punto en común: todos están fabricados a mano. El pincelero experto es responsable de productos sublimes para los cuales la calidad se convierte en perfección. En los tipos de pelo natural, es determinante la parte del cuerpo de la que proviene el pelo. Según el animal del que se trate, el pelo se hace exclusivamente de la cola o de las orejas. Siguiendo un proceso manual muy elaborado, el pelo se corta y se clasifica según la longitud y el color, de forma que cada cabello debe colocarse con la punta hacia la misma dirección. A continuación, con un peine especial se retira la lana que hay entre los pelos. Para cada pincel, se toma a ojo una cantidad determinada de pelo para confeccionar un tamaño determinado. Los habilidosos dedos experimentados moldean el pelo dándole la forma perfecta para, a continuación, sujetarlo en la virola.

FORMAS DE PINCELES En principio es posible sujetar todo tipo de pelo en cualquier forma. Cada engaste da su propia pincelada característica (toque) que, a su vez, varía según el tipo de pelo empleado. El productor suele fijar con cola el haz de pelo con el fin de evitar que se dañe durante el transporte. Por eso, la forma del haz de pelo puede variar una vez se ha eliminado la cola.
Pincel de punta redonda Los pinceles de punta redonda y afilada solo se pueden confeccionar de tipos de pelo suave o de poliéster. Los pelos del interior son más largos que los del exterior. Cuando el pincel está seco y no encolado, la punta es redonda. La punta se afila en cuanto el pincel se humedece.
Gussow Un Gussow es un pincel plano con acabado recto. Lleva el nombre del pintor Gussow procedente de Munich. La longitud del pelo es, como mínimo, igual a la anchura. Dependiendo del toque que se quiera obtener, se puede usar tanto el ancho como el grueso del pincel.
Lengua de gato Esta forma de pincel reúne las ventajas de un pincel plano y un pincel de punta redonda. Mientras el haz de pelo está encolado, el pincel aparenta tener la punta muy afilada. Cuando se le elimina la cola, se hace visible la forma real.

Pincel brocha redonda Un pincel en forma de brocha redonda está engastado del mismo modo que un pincel de punta redonda de, por ejemplo, pelo de marta. Por la rigidez del pelo de cerda, al humedecerlo no se formará una punta. El pincel en forma de brocha redonda puede ser interlocked, llevando varios haces curvados al interior y engastados los unos contra los otros.
Pincel de abanico Con un pincel de abanico pueden realizarse transiciones totalmente lisas de un color a otro en pintura al óleo. Primero, se pinta lo mejor posible las zonas que delimitan el paso de un color a otro con, por ejemplo, un Gussow de pelo suave. Abanicando la zona suavemente con un pincel de abanico, desaparecen las huellas de la pincelada. Un pincel de abanico es también muy apropiado para realizar suaves transiciones de color con técnicas al pastel seco.
Paletina Una paletina es un pincel en forma de brocha muy amplia que puede usarse para pintar grandes áreas. Las paletinas de pelo de cerda también se usan para imprimar el soporte, por ejemplo, de lino. Las paletinas de pelo suave o de cerda son, además, buenas brochas para barnizar.
