Upper Juniors

A warm welcome from Head of Junior School Sport, Health and Fitness
Laura Lloyd
Welcome to all our parents, carers, pupils and guests for today’s Upper Junior Sports Day.
With every pupil taking part, the day has been designed to provide an exciting and inclusive programme of track and field events for all. We are delighted to celebrate participation, effort and teamwork as pupils represent their Houses in a fun and energetic environment.
Each event contributes valuable points towards the overall Sports Day House Cup, making every race, jump and throw count. With the final result to be announced and awarded on Royal Russell Day, there is everything to play for and every opportunity for pupils to make a difference for their House.
As always, we encourage all pupils to demonstrate the Royal Russell values of being courageous and ambitious in their performance, and we invite spectators to show their support and enthusiasm throughout the day.
Good luck to all competitors — we look forward to an enjoyable and memorable event, and thank all staff for their dedication in making the day possible.

Our Vision for Sport
At Royal Russell, we aim to deliver an outstanding sport and physical activity provision across all disciplines, nurturing pupils’ intellectual and personal development while fostering lifelong healthy and active lifestyles that extend beyond their school years.
Supporting the Competitors
We hope everyone enjoys the day and has fun cheering on the pupils. We are proud of all our pupils taking part and we want this to be a wonderful, positive event for everyone.
Sport is about trying your best, showing teamwork and enjoying the experience. Good sportsmanship is very important—please encourage fair play, respect and kindness at all times.
Please support all athletes with encouragement and applause, it is not just about the results.
We ask all visitors to be good role models by using supportive language and showing respect to officials, coaches and pupils at all times.
Dogs should be kept away from the pitches and track area.
If you have any concerns about an individual, please contact a member of staff.

Safety
Please could we remind all competitors and spectators to remain outside the track and field areas or competition areas unless competing. This is especially important in the throwing areas.
Refreshments & Facilities
Complimentary refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon, alongside the opportunity to purchase additional refreshments should you wish to do so.
Toilets for parents are available in the Pavilion. Toilets for pupils are located in the changing rooms.
