Introduction
The annual dpi competition is open to all members (including overseas members) of the RPS Digital Imaging special interest group. The competition is split into two rounds: Round 1 - Open Colour; and
Round 2 - Open Mono. The Raymond Wallace Thompson Trophy: 'Digital Projected Image of the Year' will be awarded to the overall winner. This document relates only to the first round - Open Colour.
The PollUnit page was open for submissions between 1 May 2026 and 1 June 2026. Members were invited to submit up to three colour images in jpg format. The response was fantastic! 356 images were submitted by 124 authors. Due to the response, the Competitions Team filtered the entries to include up to 2 images per author. That created a longlist of 242 images which were sent to the external selectors. The selectors filtered the images to create a shortlist of 49 images and then further refined the selection to select 15 images to go through to the final.
Round 1 is now complete and fifteen images will go through to the final where they will be joined by fifteen images (yet to be chosen) from round 2 - open mono. The remainder of this document describes the process by which the finalists were selected and shows all of the images.

Next Steps
Round 2 - Open Mono is now live. The PollUnit page is open for submission until 1 August 2026.
We will follow a similar process for Round 2 with the objective of selecting 15 mono images to go through to the final. Further details will be announced in due course.
