Open Mono Round
Introduction The annual dpi competition is open to all members (including overseas members) of the RPS Digital Imaging special interest group. The competition is split into two rounds: Round 1 - Open Colour; and Round 2 - Open Mono. The Raymond Wallace Thompson Trophy: 'Digital Projected Image of the Year' will be awarded to the overall winner. This document relates only to the second round - Open Mono. The PollUnit page was open for submissions between 1 July 2026 and 1 August 2026. Members were invited to submit up to three colour images in jpg format. The response was overwhelming! 496 images were submitted by 172 authors. Due to the sheer volume of entries, the Competitions Team filtered the entries to include up to 2 images per author. That created a long-list of 338 images and all images on the long-list were sent to the external selectors. The selectors filtered the images to create a shortlist of 29 images and then further refined the selection to select 15 images to go through to the final. Round 2 is now complete and 15 images will go through to the final where they will be joined by 15 images from Round 1 - Open Colour. The remainder of this document describes the process by which the finalists in the Mono Round were selected and shows all of the images.
