Ugly Duckling is lonely and fed-up, ignored by those around her who think she is too ugly to fit in. She tries to make friends with fellow ducklings as well as with frogs, cats and even a fox, but realising she is not like any of these animals, she is left sad and alone. Follow the duckling on her journey as she overcomes her troubles and realises that she was beautiful all along.

Whether you’re interested in drama, dance, music, or just looking for something to do in the holidays, our programme of events gives you the chance to have fun, learn new skills and make new friendships. Wednesdays 5pm-6.30pm Our weekly youth theatre for young people aged 12-18, will give you the chance to develop your devising and performance skills with other like-minded people. Working with theatre professional Jenny Sheehan, you will use improvisation, scripts and different theatre styles to create a new performance that will be shared at the performance Mardi Gras in March.

Core Emerge Ensemble

Learn new skills, make friends and have fun devising and performing original work to be presented as part of Corby’s Emerge Festival. You can also work towards a Bronze or Silver Arts Award. Our new group for young people aged 12-16 provides opportunities for you to work with award-winning comedian Lucy Thompson and a range of other local and national comedians to learn different techniques and develop an individual comedy style. Sessions will enable you to experiment with creating and performing different kinds of comedy. Our new comedians will share their performances as part of the Mardi Gras showcase in March.

Saturdays 10am-11am (ages 5-7) & 11.15am-12.15pm (ages 8-11) Sparks is an imaginative, lively and friendly group, giving children the chance to create stories and performances from their imaginations and ideas. Working with professional theatre practitioner Kim Laughton, children will make new friends and develop confidence whilst having lots of fun. They will share their creations as part of the performance Mardi Gras here at The Core in March.

Keep fit and active and learn a variety of dance styles at these fun and friendly classes run in partnership with creative dance company Moving Together. Sessions are suitable for all levels of ability.

Singing4Breathing

Wednesdays 10.30am-11.30am Singing4Breathing is an award-winning singing group designed for people with respiratory conditions. Concept

Mon 12 – Fri 16 February 10am-3pm Concept is a FREE, week-long studio residency for young people aged 14-19 years, where you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of professional musicians, vocalists, MCs and producers to make and record your own original music, inspired by themes from The Tempest. Enhance your music making skills including composing, song writing, mixing and mastering and collaborate with other young people.

This project is delivered in collaboration with Pedestrian. Supported by Youth Music and using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Transaction Fee

In person: 9.30am-2.45pm Tuesday & Saturday.

9.30am-6pm Wednesday to Friday or until 15 minutes after the final performance has commenced. From one hour before performances on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Saturday evenings and Bank Holidays, closing 15 minutes after the final performance has commenced.

As ticket revenue is divided between many different parties, an increase in ticket prices may not necessarily benefit The Core. By adding a small transaction charge, we ensure that every penny of this goes to your local venue and the projects we run with local communities and young people.

Seating Plan

Postage Fee

There is a £1 fee applicable to post your tickets to a UK address. We recommend that we do not post any tickets booked within seven days of the performance date, and instead will hold them at the Ticket Office for collection.

Returns And Exchanges

We are unable to exchange or refund tickets.

Ticket reservations must be paid for within four days of booking. We are unable to reserve tickets without payment within seven days prior to the performance.

Discounts And Concessions

Concessions are available for most shows for Under 16s, 60+, Students, Jobseekers, Disabled Patrons and Companions, and Groups of 10+.

Additional concessions are available for certain shows, including family tickets (max 2 adults) – full details are highlighted on individual show entries and at www.thecorecorby.com.

Restricted View tickets are available at a reduced rate for some performances – ask Ticket Office for details.

Groups And Schools

Groups of 10+ qualify for the concessions price.

Further discounts for Groups of 20+ and Schools are available on certain shows - please see page 16 for great savings on The Wind In The Willows.

Family Friendly

The Core is committed to being a family friendly organisation. Some of the facilities we offer to make your visit run as smoothly as possible include free buggy storage and cloakroom, booster seats and, of course, a warm and friendly welcome.

Access The Core at Corby Cube is fully accessible. Spaces for wheelchairs are available together with adjacent seats in the auditoria for companions or carers. There is an induction loop in all performance spaces. Headsets are available at the Ticket Office.

Access Ticketing Scheme If you have not already done so, we would like to invite our access users to register for our new access ticketing scheme.

The registration process allows you to tell us about any specific needs you have which will affect your booking and to apply for free* or discounted tickets should you need extra assistance during your visit. In exchange, we will be able to prioritise specific areas or seating according to your needs.

If you think you, or someone you care for, may qualify for tickets under our new scheme we would encourage you to register by either downloading the form from our website, or requesting a form by post or email via the Ticket Office. Please note that even if you have had discounted tickets in the past, you will need to register under the terms of the new scheme to qualify for discounts.

The access scheme has been developed in consultation with local charitable organisations and other venues around the UK. The Core is situated within easy reach of the train station, all the main bus routes and road links and a stone’s throw from Willow Place Shopping Centre. The entrance is located on George Street.

Car Parking

Parking is available right next door to Corby Cube and Corby East Midlands International Swimming Pool. If this is full, we suggest the Victoria Place car park as a suitable alternative.

Please note that an evening parking charge of 20p applies from 6pm – midnight, Monday – Saturday inclusive. Sunday parking is free all day/evening.
