The B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch is kicking off the new year with a job fair in New Westminster. The job fair – being held on Monday, Jan. 6 – is to recruit prospective employees for its B.C. Cannabis Store, which is expected to open in early-summer 2020 at Queensborough Landing shopping centre.The event is an opportunity for prospective employees to speak to representatives from the LDB, which operates B.C. Cannabis Stores, and learn more about the positions available and experience required. According to a press release from the LDB, B.C. Cannabis Stores is looking for one store manager, two assistant managers, five full-time cannabis consultants, two part-time and up to eight auxiliary cannabis consultants. The job fair is being held on Monday, Jan. 6 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Queensborough Community Centre, 920 Ewen Ave. While recruiters will be collecting resumes at the event, all prospective candidates must submit their application via the LDB’s online portal at www.bcldb.com/ about/careers to be considered. Successful candidates will receive extensive training, concentrating on social responsibility practices related to safety and responsible adult use, comprehensive product knowledge and customer service skills. Product knowledge and an understanding of the essential elements related to cannabis products and the industry are appreciated, but not required. Retail experience is also appreciated. B.C. Cannabis Store employees are required to undergo an Enhanced Security Screening check, in accordance with the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act.
