MISSION

A Letter from President Tim Navone and Director of Advancement Jacqueline Tobe Dear Marin Catholic Families, Alumni and Friends, We hope you are enjoying a wonderful winter season with your families. This summer was a busy one at MC! There were many campus upgrades in progress, including our newly resurfaced and designed gym floor, a state-of-the-art sound system renovation in Studio 38, the installation of new turf, gliders, and Adirondack chairs in Junior Hall, and the long-awaited locker room and shower upgrades. We have also added a new outdoor Science classroom and new televisions in the life science wing to finish off Phase one of our two-phase Science Renovation. There was a lot of dust flying around, but we are now enjoying the fruits of that labor!

We also want to shout out Senior Annabelle Gulash for creating the Cub Club for our incoming freshman girls.

Annabelle spent part of her summer hosting two welcome socials for incoming freshman girls, providing a casual and informal setting for them to connect with each other before the school year began. Now, during the year, Annabelle and her team of upperclassmen host monthly socials for all freshman girls to build relationships and bonds around positivity and support. Way to go, Annabelle!

While change is always afoot, what remains the same is the strength of the Marin Catholic mission and our community. The ground ahead is often unknown, but faith and prayer accompany us knowing our Wildcat spirit will lead us through.

GIVING AT MARIN CATHOLIC Annual Fund

Marin Catholic relies on charitable contributions and the Parent Promise to the Annual Fund to bridge the gap between tuition and the full cost of a Marin Catholic education. Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of an MC education, leaving an approximate $3,400 per student gap and we rely on the generosity of our community to provide unrestricted dollars to our operating budget, impacting everything at MC.

Special Events & Grand Sponsors

Grand Sponsors make an underwriting gift over and above their Annual Fund contribution to support community events and programs, benefiting all students. Last year’s Grand Sponsors underwrote such events as the Spring Auction, Boosters Crab Feed, Sip Shop and Mingle, and the Art Extravaganza. This fund also helped to reduce ticket costs for the Junior and Senior Proms.

Directed Gifts

Directed gifts fund specific programs and initiatives at MC, such as scholarships and other identified areas of need.

Restricted gifts can also be made to specific Athletic teams or to the Art Department, after a gift to the Annual Fund has been made.

Endowments

Gifts to the endowment provide for the financial sustainability of MC now and into the future. Earned interest from the principal of this permanently endowed fund ensures tuition costs remain affordable and provides direct relief to families in need of tuition assistance.

Campaigns

Capital campaigns help evolve our facilities so that our campus enhances 21st-century learning and student life.

In 2020, the first step in our 20-year Internal Vision Plan was completed with the opening of St. Anselm Hall. In 2022, life-science classrooms and labs in the 700 wing were upgraded and modernized. Our next priority is to renovate our science labs to become state-of-the-art learning labs that will impact every student on campus.

Planned Giving

Planned gifts provide MC with support in the future and those who have informed MC of their intentions are honored members of our Society Fidei.

Sip, Shop & Mingle — November 29, 2023

Over 400 MC community members supported our Sip, Shop, and Mingle Boutique that was held in our Saint John Paul II Student Center. It was a festive night with over 30 different vendors offering beautiful handbags, eyewear, jewelry, clothing, and tasty treats. The event raised funds to benefit our students and programs, and helped kick off the Christmas season.

Crab Feed — January 20, 2024

Almost 300 Patrons, Boosters, and members of the MC Community dined on a family-style dinner of fresh crab, clams, mussels, pasta, eggplant parmesan, Caesar salad, and tiramisu at our annual MC Crab Feed. This traditional Italian feast could not have happened without the incredible generosity, efforts, and time of Jeff and Theresa Figone (Laura ’21) and the entire extended Figone family, who prepared and organized this celebratory meal.

Spring Auction - 75 Years! — March 9, 2024

In March, current families, alumni, and friends came together to celebrate Marin Catholic’s 75th Anniversary.

The highlight of the evening was a series of student performances set against a dynamic video backdrop, showcasing the last 75 years of Marin Catholic—from past to the present. The video highlighted the school’s rich history in athletics, performing arts, faith and service, and the cherished traditions that make MC so special.

Fall Concert Series — November 15-17, 2024

In November, Marin Catholic’s Performing Arts Department electrified audiences with its annual Fall Concert Series: Genre Hop. The Performing Arts Center (Studio 38) came alive each evening, showcasing the incredible talent and creativity of our students.

Spanning three unforgettable nights, the series featured performances by 20 distinct bands, representing the vibrant diversity of our Contemporary Music and Music Production II programs. Students brought to life a dynamic array of music, covering iconic artists such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele, Spin Doctors, Pat Benatar, and Carrie Underwood. Each performance offered a fresh take on these beloved hits, demonstrating technical prowess and artistic finesse.

As we reflect on another remarkable year, the Fall Concert Series stands out as a shining example of Marin Catholic’s commitment to nurturing creativity and fostering a love for the arts among our student body. We look forward to many more inspiring performances and milestones in the years to come.

Fall Play — October 26-29, 2023

October’s fall play, A Delightful Quarantine, was a frolicking display of what happens behind closed doors when aliens come to a town and all the residents become quarantined in each others’ homes! MC students, shone on stage as comedic and dramatic actors and provided seamless technical support.

Assistant Director Ethan Pantaleon ’25 led his fellow actors through a dedicated ensemble building and the rehearsal process, while stage manager Caroline Friend ’24 spearheaded the unique set design, creative lighting, and technical elements with her student crew to bring the 7 rooms of alien-invaded Susqua Creek Acres to life. Angie Medrano ’24 delighted us as narrator Professor Lucy Fuller, who hilariously guided audiences through her “research” on the twists and turns of the lives of the captured citizenry.

Parents and Patrons of the Arts offered their support in countless ways–from set building, painting, coordination and costumes, ticket-taking, set up and break down and meals and concession donations.

The MC community’s commitment to the arts was proven by our sold-out performances and many repeat attendees who couldn’t seem to get enough of this delightful production!

Athletic Highlights It was a Year of Firsts!

Marin Catholic Women’s Soccer: Historic First NorCal Title

In a historic season, the Marin Catholic womens’ soccer team secured their first-ever NorCal Division IV championship with a 2-1 overtime win against Everett Alvarez. Sloane Carey’s golden goal in the 90th minute sealed the victory, following an earlier goal from Ava Korich. The Wildcats finished the season 17-3-4, marking their first top-three MCAL finish in years. First-year coach Isaiah Schwerin praised the team’s collective effort, especially the defense and goalkeeper Finn Seymore, in delivering Marin Catholic’s inaugural NorCal soccer title.

Marin Catholic Men’s Lacrosse: First NCS Division I Championship Victory

The Marin Catholic mens’ lacrosse team secured their first North Coast Section Division I title with a commanding 14-3 victory over De La Salle. Led by Colin Puckett and Harrison Tyler, who each scored three goals, the Wildcats dominated the game, maintaining control from start to finish. Marin Catholic’s defense forced ten turnovers, and goalie Tanner Warne stopped eight shots.

Marin Catholic Boys’ Golf: NCS Division II Team Champions

The Marin Catholic mens’ golf team clinched the North Coast Section Division II team championship in a tiebreaker, edging out Marin Academy at Peacock Gap Golf Club. MC’s Mason Sylvester shot a 2-under-par 69 to qualify for the next round, while Theo Anderson added a 71 to help secure the win. The team’s strong performance included contributions from Kyle Forrest, Kadeth Halboth, and Luca DeNunzio, marking their best team score of the season and advancing several golfers to the NCS Division I tournament.

Marin Catholic Football: CIF Division 3A State Champions The Marin Catholic varsity football team claimed the CIF Division 3A State Title with a dominant 38-18 victory over Mayfair, marking their second state championship in three years. Led by quarterback Peter Macaulay, who contributed four total touchdowns, and standout Charles Williams, the Wildcats built an early lead, scoring on six consecutive possessions. Marin Catholic’s defense, highlighted by Mario Crocitto’s four sacks, was equally formidable. The win capped a stellar 14-1 season, with Coach Mazi Moayed praising the team’s resilience and focus throughout the championship run.

The team finished another undefeated league season and won the MCAL Championship for the 3rd straight year. The girls were seeded #1 in the North Coast Section Division 3 playoffs to become Threepeat NCS Champions.

Spring Auction Fund-A-Need:

Celebrating 75 Years of Marin Catholic!

At this year’s Spring Auction Fund-a-Need paddle raise, our generous Benefactors donated over $285,000. These funds went directly to funding new, state-of-the-art science lab televisions for our life science classrooms, locker room upgrades for both girls and boys, and a new acoustical sound system that enhances recently upgraded technology to support concerts, plays, and musicals.

The addition of student lifestyle spaces were also added to campus where our students can gather in community with each other. This includes some additional gliders and turf grass for students to spend time together. Funds raised also supported the purchase of an EMT Medical vehicle that enables our athletic trainer and trained staff the ability to transport and provide immediate care to students in situations both on and off the field and around campus.

Celebrating the Class of 2024 & Our Legacy Families The Baccalaureate Mass for the Class of 2024 was held on Wednesday, May 29, at the beautiful Mt. Carmel Church in Mill Valley. The church was filled with a sense of reverence and anticipation as graduates celebrated Mass for the last time together.

Father Andrew Ginter, Chaplain of Marin Catholic, delivered an inspiring homily that resonated with the graduates, encouraging them to carry forward the values of faith, community, and service that they have cultivated during their time at Marin Catholic. His words served as both a reflection on their journey thus far and a call to embrace the future with courage and compassion. The Mass was a poignant reminder of the strong bonds within the Marin Catholic community and the enduring spiritual foundation that the graduates will carry with them as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

Graduation 2024 The Class of 2024 graduated on Thursday, May 30 at the Marin Civic Center Exhibit Hall in San Rafael.

Our 196 graduates received over 1,000 acceptances to colleges and universities nationwide. We recognize their achievements and the 30,946 Christian Service hours they have contributed to people in need, locally and around the world.
