2024-2025 Impact Report

THANK YOU

Your support empowers today’s learners and lays the foundation for generations of students.

Welcome

LETTER FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear Rowland Hall Families and Friends,

It’s a joy to take a moment each year to commemorate and celebrate the generosity of our community. The 2024–2025 school year was an especially powerful illustration of our community’s commitment to Rowland Hall. In this exceptional year of giving, we asked you to go all in by supporting the Annual Fund, contributing to the capital campaign, and attending our biennial Auction, Derby Day. Not only did you step up, but you did so in a remarkable show of support that demonstrates what’s possible when a community believes deeply in a vision and comes together to bring that vision to life.

Thanks to you, we have much to celebrate as we look back:

• 2,385 gifts were made in support of Rowland Hall’s vision.

• We moved closer to the end of our capital campaign—we’ve raised $41.75 million, 93% of our goal.

• Our Annual Fund raised $907,704, with contributions from 100% of board members and 93% of faculty and staff.

• Alumni gave back to the school that shaped them, donating over $175,000.

• Our 22nd biennial Auction was a resounding success, raising $535,000 for the capital campaign and financial aid.

• An extraordinary number of parents and caregivers contributed their time in support of the Rowland Hall community.

• We successfully launched Horizons at Rowland Hall, the first Horizons National program in Utah. Designed to support public school students from under-resourced communities, Horizons mitigates math and literacy learning loss between school years. The program reached full capacity in summer 2025, and we look forward to growing it in future years.

I hope you’ll take time to review this Impact Report, which further highlights these achievements. I also invite you to review many of our programmatic achievements from 2024–2025 in this year’s Only at Rowland Hall, and to keep up with the latest school happenings by visiting our online magazine, Fine Print. I look forward to building on this year’s many accomplishments, as well as sharing more that we have to celebrate in the coming year.

With gratitude,

A CULTURE OF Philanthropy

Philanthropic support at all levels helps create the Rowland Hall experience: The programs. The people. The future.

A culture of philanthropy is at the heart of every great educational institution. Since Rowland Hall’s founding, the unwavering generosity of our community has ensured that the school prepares students to make a positive impact in the world.

Rowland Hall fundraises to supplement annual operating costs, ensure a financially sustainable future, provide flexibility to handle the unexpected, and bring to life our strategic priorities and vision of what’s possible in education.

Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Your gift helps us say yes to what matters most. We would not be the amazing school we are without the extraordinary support of the entire Rowland Hall community, past and present.

Every gift is an investment in developing people the world needs. Thank you!

I experience great joy from volunteering and supporting the Rowland Hall community. Our community thrives when students, teachers, and staff feel seen, supported, and appreciated. Whether it is offering financial support through the Annual Fund, helping to organize events, chaperoning a field trip, or participating in community building activities, Steve and I have found many meaningful ways to be involved. We encourage everyone to read Friday Facts to learn about all the ways you can engage beyond the classroom.

When looking for schools for our three children, we found Rowland Hall resonated with us due to its commitment to academic excellence, providing flexibility for our children to develop in the ways that suit them best. For the past 15 years, we have steadfastly supported STEM projects in the lower, middle, and upper schools as Rowland Hall takes a leading position in this field. We are very excited for the new middle and upper school campus, as it will include new and advanced facilities for STEM and entrepreneurial activities. We have pledged to support Rowland Hall in this endeavor, in the hope that others will follow. Through our philanthropic support of Rowland Hall, we hope to inspire generations of students to consider careers in fields that will make the world a better place.

— Florian Solzbacher and Xiaoxin Chen, parents of Aimee ’28, Benedict ’32, and Catalina ’40

TO ROWLAND HALL Why we give

Janelle and I support Rowland Hall because this community has not only shaped our three children but also helped shape us as a family. We believe deeply in the school’s vision to develop people the world needs—a vision that shows up in classrooms, on athletic fields, through student voices, and in the friendships that last a lifetime. Rowland Hall is a place that challenges students to think critically, act compassionately, and lead with purpose, and we are proud to be part of a community that invests in those values.

— Zach Smith, trustee and parent of alumni Zander ’19, Ozzie ’22, and Zakrie ’24

Thanks to the generosity of 541 Annual Fund donors, we raised $907,704 to enhance academic programs, fuel innovation, and ensure our educators have the tools they need to help students thrive. Parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff, parents of alumni, and friends of Rowland Hall came together to make sure we can say yes to our students and teachers when opportunities arise throughout the year.

Thanks to you, our students are applying their transformational learning experiences to make a meaningful impact locally and globally. With support from the Annual Fund, students tackle projects like saving the Great Salt Lake, designing sustainable airplane engines, and launching the Upper School’s firstever Make-A-Wish Week. They take the support they get from their teachers, friends, family, and community and do their best to make the world a better place.

We’re deeply grateful to all who gave.

A special thank-you to our Annual Fund liaisons, who graciously dedicated their time, energy, and enthusiasm to champion this effort within our community.

DAVE COYNE JOINS ROWLAND HALL AS ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ANNUAL GIVING

This year, we were thrilled to welcome Dave Coyne as Rowland Hall’s new associate director of annual giving. Dave brings valuable nonprofit fundraising experience from the Utah Avalanche Center and the YMCA of Northern Utah. When he's not connecting with donors, you’ll likely find him chasing his son through the trees at Alta, mountain biking, or exploring the desert in search of hidden treasures. (Fun fact: Dave spent four summers as a park ranger in the Tetons.) He’s especially excited for his son to join Rowland Hall’s kindergarten class in the fall of 2025.

WE'RE BUILDING

the future

This year, the Rowland Hall community stepped up with extraordinary generosity. Together, we raised $6.3 million for The World Awaits: The Campaign for Rowland Hall. It was a year of stretching, believing, and building. With each gift, we moved closer to realizing our vision for the Richard R. Steiner Campus. Thanks to the strength of fundraising and thoughtful project planning, the new campus is set to welcome students in the 2026–2027 school year.

We are now in the final phase of the largest capital campaign in school history. Thanks to the collective effort of families, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends, the campaign has raised more than $41.75 million to date. That momentum is transforming a dream into reality—a purpose-built campus that will serve middle and upper school students with cutting-edge STEM facilities, dynamic arts spaces, robust athletics, and thoughtful design that supports belonging and collaboration.

This milestone is a testament to the commitment of our community—people who believe in the power of education to shape the future. Every gift, large or small, has helped push this project forward. As we look ahead, we remain energized and inspired by what we’ve already accomplished together—and by the promise of what’s to come.

Thank you for being part of this historic journey. The finish line is in sight, and the impact will echo for generations. Because the world awaits, our new campus cannot.

Join us in this final stretch and be a part of this transformative moment of momentum and impact for Rowland Hall.

The Todd Brickson ROWMARK ENDOWMENT

This spring, the Rowmark Ski Academy community came together to celebrate Todd Brickson’s retirement, sharing their gratitude for his 23 years of extraordinary leadership, mentorship, and impact on generations of student-athletes. As part of this meaningful tribute, Rowmark parents and supporters Doug Schillinger and Jeff Rhodes proposed a powerful idea: to grow Rowmark’s endowment in Todd’s honor.

During the celebration, Doug officially announced the creation of The Todd Brickson Rowmark Endowment—a lasting initiative to recognize Todd’s legacy and to ensure the continued excellence and sustainability of the program he helped build and shape.

We are deeply grateful to the generous donors who helped bring this vision to life, and we look forward to continuing to grow the Rowmark endowment in Todd’s name.

This year’s Auction was a true celebration of community, generosity, and vision. With a festive Derby Day theme, supporters gathered under a stunning tent on the McCarthey Campus back field, beautifully transformed thanks to the incredible efforts of the Auction Executive Committee and our talented vendors. From elegant florals and thoughtful decor to a life-size horse statue, every detail brought the theme to life.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our outstanding Auction co-chairs, Deanna Combs and Jeff Miller ’98, whose leadership and dedication helped make the evening unforgettable. Guests enjoyed delicious food, sipped on signature drinks, bid on hundreds of items, and danced the night away to the sounds of Metro Music Club.

Most importantly, we are thrilled to share that the event netted $535,000, which will support The World Awaits capital campaign to build the future Richard R. Steiner Campus and contribute to our financial aid fund.

Thank you to everyone who gave, attended, and celebrated with us—your support made this night a resounding success!

Alumni

HONORING THE PAST, BUILDING THE FUTURE

This year, Rowland Hall alumni came together with remarkable spirit and generosity through the Pave the Way initiative. Alums were invited to leave a lasting mark on the future Richard R. Steiner Campus by purchasing personalized bricks and pavers for the new John ’96 and Andrea Miller Alumni Courtyard. Thanks to their enthusiastic support, this initiative has raised nearly $50,000 to date, reflecting both alums’ deep connection to Rowland Hall and their shared commitment to its future.

In addition to philanthropic momentum, alumni engagement remained strong throughout the year. Highlights included a reimagined Annual Day of Giving, complete with exclusive hard hat tours, making alumni one of the first groups to step foot on the new campus site. Beloved traditions continued, including volleyball and basketball games, a winter party, and University of Utah tailgates, all strengthening the bonds within our alumni community.

Rowland Hall is grateful for its dedicated alumni, who continue to pave the way—both literally and figuratively—for future generations of Winged Lions.

Heather Weinstock joined Rowland Hall in January 2025 as the new associate director of alumni and donor engagement, marking a meaningful return to the community where she spent her second- through fourth-grade years. Heather brings a background in fundraising and special events from her time at Utah Symphony & Opera and Park City Municipal, and she loves nothing more than connecting with people and building meaningful relationships. Outside work, you’ll likely find her on the sand volleyball court, playing Beehive Sports (founded by Rowland Hall alum Dave Marquardt ’05!), tackling a crossword puzzle, curled up with a good book, or hanging out with her two cats.
