Hooray for a year of show-stopping happiness and life-changing impact. And a round of applause to you for being part of the backstage magic that made it all possible.
At Roundup River Ranch, everyone gets to experience the joy of having moments big and small in the spotlight. Whether it’s performing a silly song at Stage Night, finding the courage to reach the top of the climbing wall, or telling the best joke at Camp Online, new friends offer boisterous cheers and plenty of wild applause at every turn. This year, we had so many incredible moments where campers not only found a sense of belonging, they discovered they have all kinds of ways to truly shine. Read on to see the behind the scenes work and the center-stage impact of camp. You’ll find yourself jumping up for a standing ovation!

LIGHTS! CAMERA! HOPE!
Dear Friends,
As we reflect on this incredible year, one thing is certain - JOY takes center stage at Roundup River Ranch. From launching our 2024-2026 strategic plan to expanding our reach and impact, every moment has been filled with passion, momentum, and endless possibilities. None of this could happen without you.
This year, we introduced exciting new initiatives:
• More Camp! – We expanded access for campers with higher medical acuity, extended Summer Camps by an extra day per session, and continued to grow Outreach Programs in Denver hospitals and organizations.
• Expanded Impact! – We’ve partnered with youth mental health organizations to enhance programming, and deepened collaborations with our medical partners.
• Stronger Community! – We expanded our volunteer network, bringing together medical professionals, corporate partners, schools, and individuals who all deliver our mission. We also offered our campsite as a “host venue”, creating a revenue-generating opportunity while benefiting the broader community.
• Elevated Reach! – The Roundup the Possibilities Campaign reached new heights, driving capital projects that are transforming our facilities and campsite.
As we look to the future, we are deeply grateful for the strong community that brings our mission to life. Your support enables us to expand programs, enhance our campsite, and ensure that children and families with life-altering diagnoses experience the joy, connection, independence, and hope that camp provides. Together, we’ll create more awe-inspiring moments, life-changing camp experiences, and a future where joy always takes the spotlight.
With gratitude,

SPOTLIGHT ON YEAR ONE
We’re one year into our three-year strategic plan, and we’re thrilled to share a snapshot of our progress. As we begin year two, we continue our commitment to delivering on our goals. Here’s a look at where we stand as we open the curtain on this exciting journey.
PILLAR 1
Expand & Enhance Mission Delivery
• New Programs: We’re launching our first-ever Behavioral Health and Wellness Summer Camp in collaboration with Vail Health Behavioral Health. And, we’re debuting the new two-week in-person Spurs Program for camper alumni this summer. Spurs is for alumni who have aged out of our traditional residential camp and it focuses on leadership development, community building, mentorship, and the joy of creating camp magic.
• Partnership Expansion: Our partnership with Children’s Hospital Colorado is expanding, allowing us to offer support for more diagnoses than ever before.
PILLAR 2
Enrich Stakeholder Experiences
• Employee Engagement:
We are building upon a new People & Culture department model putting staff first and continuing to build a stronger community with recognition, celebrations, and deeper connections. Our commitment to professional development opportunities continued to expand.
• Volunteer & Donor Opportunities: We are constantly finding new ways for volunteers and donors to get involved while staying attuned to their interests to ensure they can contribute to the areas that matter most.
Hosting mission-driven events to engage others and raise awareness about our work has been a great success.
PILLAR 3
Strengthen Financial Health & ExcellenceOrganizational
• Roundup the Possibilities Campaign:
As we near the final phase of this Campaign, we’ve broken ground on three new cabins set to open in 2026, expanding our ability to serve more campers.
• Facility Upgrades: Low ropes course is expected by Summer 2025, with a High Ropes expansion ready for Summer 2026. And, our Water/Waste Water project is largely complete.
PILLAR 4 Denver Engagement
• Year-Round Programming:
We are expanding our presence in the Denver area with new Outreach Programs, such as Howdy Hangouts, for past and future camper families and volunteers. Additionally, we are doubling our visits to Children’s Hospital Colorado at Seacrest Studios to twice a month. In 2025, get ready for exciting new community events like Roundup On Ice - an ice skating event –as well as more fun activities, all designed to engage and bring our Denver community together throughout the year.

YOUR SUPPORT TAKES CENTER STAGE IN CREATING LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCES. Just like a great performance, our camp thrives on the perfect combination of heart, effort, and purpose. And the impact of camp lasts long after the last Stage Night or s’more:
Connection of campers say they feel more connected to others after camp.
94% 82% 81%
Confidence of campers report a boost in self-esteem and independence. Joy of campers leave camp with unforgettable memories and renewed courage.
n 2024, our extended camp schedule allowed our team to create even more life-changing experiences while strengthening connections within our community. We were thrilled to bring back our equestrian programming at full-capacity for the first time since 2020, thanks to an incredible partnership with AJ Brink Outfitters. They provided unforgettable trail rides during Summer Camp and friendly horse meet-and-greets during Family Camps.
Our collaborations didn’t stop there. The talented and generous volunteer and donor, Cathy Bethke, brought energy and rhythm to camp with Drum Circle sessions and silent discos, and The Westerlies Brass Quartet from Bravo Vail performed a private concert for our campers. Additionally, Eagle Climbing + Fitness supported our Challenge Course by sending their expert belay staff to camp, ensuring that families got to experience the thrill of zipping together during every Family Camp.

THE WHOLE FAMILY HAD STARRING ROLES IN THIS PRODUCTION.
During Family Camp weekends, the Variety Show is a celebration of connection, creativity, and joy. One special Variety Show performance this year was performed by camper Tischer, with moms Shannon and Natalie.
“We were so impressed with the skits during our first year at Family Camp. We saw families having fun while making everyone laugh and we really wanted to come ready,” Shannon said. “Long before camp, we landed on the idea of a swim routine and started putting our performance together. We practiced each night after school and there were many nights of making mistakes and rolling on the floor with laughter at ourselves.”
This creative family brought their own costumes and props to camp and the audience could feel the joy as they performed. Moments like these embody the mission of Family Camp – to create opportunities for families to laugh, and create memories that will last a lifetime. This swim routine was a celebration of connection, belonging, and the joy of being together.
Natalie said, “Hearing the laughs from the audience was so much fun and it is what camp is all about for us. Our daughter can be reserved at times, and the fact that she wanted to do this with us was amazing and truly a memory we will treasure. Camp is about being present, connecting with others, being silly, and just having an allaround good time. Preparing and performing our ‘synchronized swim’ routine was exactly that.”

THIS DOCTOR HAS STAR POWER.
Dr.
Shikha is a Medical Volunteer and a self-described “Roundup River Ranch Super Fan.” She says she is captivated by the magic of camp and the chance it gives to kids who are struggling socially. She explains, “To see them in a group where they are welcomed, or to see a child who thought they could never play a sport or climb up the rock wall, those are simple joys that I love. Being here has helped me realize that even in healthcare, we take for granted things that other kids get to do that our patients miss out on.”
This year, Dr. Shikha got to see one of her former patients and campers, Charlie, working as a Cabin Leader on seasonal staff. She said, “We took care of Charlie in our program for a lot of years and I got to see this little boy that we once saw in the clinic evolve into leading his peers. That speaks to what this camp does for kids. He might have gone through life with his transplant being the part of his story that controlled him. But now, it’s a story that he controls. Now, he can be the support for other kids in a way that no one else can understand, because he’s walked that same path. I was proud thinking I had a little tiny hand in letting that young man become the person that he was meant to be.”
AND THE SONG OF THE YEAR GOES TO: OUR MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS
For Stage Night during Session 3, our medical volunteers surprised the crowd with a Taylor Swift song, You Belong With Me, rewritten for camp. Here are their hit lyrics:
You’re on the bus to the camp it’s your first time
You’re kinda nervous but the views are so sublime
And you’ll never know what memories you’ll make here
We’re in the cabins, it’s the best day ever now
Cheering on your friends through all the ups and downs
And we’ll candle chat late into the night now
You may think that no one gets you
Here your friends do, wearing tutus
Dreaming bout the day when you wake up and find
That what you’re looking for has been here the whole time
If you could see that we’re the ones who all support you
Memories in your heart so let’s all just si-ing
You belong at camp, you belong at camp
“A week at camp can
Down cabin row with your bottle and your wood cookie
I can’t help thinkin’ this is how it ought to be
Laughing in fine arts, doing archery - hey isn’t this easy?
And you’ve got a smile that could light up this whole place
We’re groovin’ for our food but it isn’t a race
You say you’re scared, I know you’re stronger than that You challenge with choice and we’re all about that
You may think that no one gets you
Here your friends do, wearing tutus
Dreaming bout the day when you wake up and find
That what you’re looking for has been here the whole time

TBEST SUPPORTING CAST AWARDS!
hroughout the year, our community remained engaged through a series of third-party and cultivation events. We extend our heartfelt thanks for your participation and support in these fundraisers. Your involvement and passion have been instrumental in supporting our shared mission.
Raise a Little Hell Club
The Raise a Little Hell Club, inspired by SeriousFun Children’s Network founder Paul Newman, is a dedicated group of 70 donors who collectively contribute to creating lifechanging camp experiences. Members, known as Hellraisers, enjoy exclusive perks including branded merchandise, discounted event tickets, and invitations to unique gatherings like hikes, evening gatherings, and camp tours. In 2024, Hellraisers strengthened our mission by supporting Roundup River Ranch through their philanthropy and growing a vibrant community of advocates who share a love for camp magic.
Valbruna
Since 2016, Valbruna and Roundup River Ranch have partnered to bring the Valbruna Warehouse Sale to life, creating a meaningful way for shoppers to support camp. This annual event offers exclusive deals on premium brands, with 100% of ticket sales directly benefiting Roundup River Ranch. Over the years, this partnership has raised an incredible $176,000! The continued generosity of Valbruna and its customers ensures that camp remains a joyful and healing place for so many families.
Driving for Kids
Ann and Ross Robbins and the incredible team of car enthusiasts who make up Driving for Kids bring together their love of British cars, Paul Newman, and giving back to children with serious illnesses and their families. We are so lucky to have them as champions for our campers. Since 2016, this event has raised $608,735 - sponsoring 202 campers! Each year, car owners raise funds and do a 3-4 day car tour that includes a visit to Roundup River Ranch during a Family Camp session. The kids and families enjoy a car show of some cool and unique cars! Over the years hundreds of donors have supported Roundup River Ranch through Driving for Kids and we are beyond grateful for their generosity.
THE SHOW GOES ON–THANKS TO OUR AMAZING MEDICAL AND FACILITIES “STAGE HANDS”!
At Roundup River Ranch, “camp magic” is often seen during the fun of Stage Night or the connections formed during Candle Chat. While these moments are magical, much of camp magic happens quietly behind-the-scenes thanks to our team of Stage Hands working tirelessly to ensure camp runs smoothly.
From the Medical Team, to Kitchen Staff and the Facilities Team, these superstars ensure that every detail is perfect so campers can focus on what truly matters: joy, connection, and new adventures. Our Stage Hands prep medications, prepare and organize individual meals, and keep every corner of camp clean and safe.
All year long, our Facilities Team is the backbone of camp as they maintain the land, buildings, program areas, and all the essential systems that make camp safe and beautiful. Whether it’s cutting grass before asthma sessions to reduce allergens or building a new medical wing in The Depot, this team is there with a smile and a dedication to the mission. During the summer months, their efforts are multiplied with the power of volunteers who share a deep understanding of the significance of this work. Longtime volunteers, Dennis and Patty, have been volunteering since the early days. Dennis has become an invaluable part of our Facilities Team every summer and his hands-on contributions and unwavering commitment are felt by everyone, making him a cherished presence.
ROLL THE CREDITS!
Here’s a peek at what our Facility Stage Hands keep running smoothly:
126 irrigation zones with 1,386 sprinkler heads
5.5 acres mowed and trimmed weekly for a total of 24 weeks (between sessions during camp season)
1,654 feet of solar pathway lights with 183 solar lights
400 Bluegill and 150 Rainbow Trout stocked in the pond
“It’s a wonderful experience to see these kids enjoying Summer Camp. I try to be invisible to the campers. They shouldn’t have to worry about anything at camp. I just want to make sure everything is fixed and works — that’s part of the camp magic.”
– Dennis, Volunteer

FEELING LIKE YOU BELONG IS THE FIRST STEP TO REALIZING WHAT A TRUE STAR YOU ARE.
Here at camp, we know that once you have the joy and peace of mind of knowing you BELONG, you can be absolutely anything! Be the loudest person singing off-key. Be the silliest magician on stage. Be the back-up dancer for a cabin full of new friends. From moments in the spotlight to moments together at candle chat, every camper belongs here. They find friends who understand their journey. They find the five seconds of courage it takes to try something new. They realize they can belong with a screen full of smiling new friends at camp online. And feel the love and support of camp when they open a box of Joy, Delivered.
A sense of belonging is such a valuable thing, we’re making it our theme for 2025.

“To me, Embrace Joy means that we are normal kids even if it’s for one week of the year. It means having people to relate to even if they’re different. It means you can be who you are and not be judged. It means you don’t have to be titled sick kid.”
