2025 PCAF Annual Report

Page 1

But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”

EPHESIANS 4: 7-8

Dear Friends,

When Christ ascended to heaven, he scattered gifts around his church. Every Christian has received a “grant” from our good and gracious King. As Paul puts it, “grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift” (Eph. 4:7). His gifts are proclaimers of the Word ‘to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God.’ Our calling as his disciples is to faithfully steward the Word he has entrusted to us.

At the Foundation, we have the privilege of working with givers to support this proclamation of this precious gift. The men and women who work in our office and serve on our board are gifted in the areas of finance, law, resource development, operations, and much more. It takes a team of Christians to faithfully steward the $400M which have been entrusted to us.

Our goal is to see the funds managed and distributed so that the gospel is proclaimed, churches are planted, ministries are advanced, and worthwhile causes are supported.

The gifts that come into the Foundation are of different shapes and sizes. We receive contributions ranging from small cash gifts to large non-cash assets like real estate and privately held businesses. The size and nature of the gift doesn’t always indicate the depth of the donor’s faith and sacrifice. As Jesus reminds us, a widow’s gift requires the same faith as an entrepreneur’s windfall.

The PCA Foundation is a service for the church and of the church. We exist because the Presbyterian Church in America believes the collection and distribution of gifts is one way we carry out the Great Commission. We enable Christians to give more and more effectively to advance the Kingdom and manifest the presence of His Kingdom in their hearts.

As you read this report, we pray that you will rejoice with us as we celebrate what Christ is doing through the PCA Foundation. Please pray that we would faithfully care for and direct the resources Christ and his people have entrusted to us, and that he would do more through them than we could anticipate.

With Blessings,

SERVING DONORS BETTER

In 2025, the PCAF set a record for gifts received and granted. Now, it has added some key positions that will position it to serve even more donors in years to come.

“We are grateful for the growth we’ve experienced and the opportunity to serve more donors,” said Tim Townsend, president of the PCA Foundation. “With the increase of new donors and complex gifts, we’ve added talent to assist on the frontend and back-end of donor services. Due to the growth we’ve experienced, we have re-examined and restructured our operations to be more efficient and effective in serving donors.”

Nick Shimoda has been hired as a giving strategist and legal gift strategy developer. Shimoda comes to the Foundation from the Signatry, where he served as vice president and deputy general counsel. He is a ruling elder at First Presbyterian Church, Dothan, Alabama. Nick graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Economics). He earned his J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Alabama. Shimoda will develop legal strategies for donors with complex gifts.

Tom Mayfield has been hired to serve as associate business manager. A 25-year career in commercial real estate development and capital markets led Tom to this role and his experience in senior leadership roles and in the management of complex financial strategies will be a tremendous asset to the Foundation. Tom holds a B.S. in Accounting from Bob Jones University and an M.S. in Finance from Georgia State University.

Eva Goldstein has been hired to assist with the Foundation’s administrative needs. She brings an extensive background in emerging technologies, process management, and client service.
