From the President Good day, Fellow Tablers, February in Table terms is synonymous with the famous Fishing Boogie hosted by Windhoek 34 in the week leading up to the Namibian AGM. Fishing Boogie was first hosted around 1988 and this year’s edition is the 34th Fishing Boogie. I am privileged to have attended my second boogie this year and urge all tablers to attend this Table bucket list event. Tradition dictates that you have to cut your hair on your first boogie, but the experience, new friends and fishing are well worth a free haircut. The hosting is world class and the 34 tablers go out of their way to ensure that all have a good time. There is good reason for some guys like Spidey Knepscheld , who has attended something like 6 boogies. This year, I came to the conclusion that the only thing better than your first boogie, is attending your next boogie. The experience of spending time with fellow tablers while fishing in style with guides, that have national colours in fishing, at a very cheap and decent rate is unthinkable. I want to thank the RT 34 guys for taking the time and putting in the effort to continue with this tradition!!! Association President Louis Radley

A UK Hero in the Fight Against Suicide and Mental Health Stigma This World Kindness Day, we at the Round Table Eastern Province Area are proud to highlight the extraordinary contributions of Ms Zoe Upson in promoting suicide awareness. Through her work with the #dontcamoyourself campaign, Zoe has been instrumental in encouraging young men to discuss mental health openly. Her commitment to fundraising for CALM Campaign Against Living Miserably aligns perfectly with our values. Zoe received a special Don't Camo Yourself jacket from us, a symbol of our appreciation for her unyielding efforts. This jacket's journey to Zoe in Leigh on Sea, UK, represents a chain of international collaboration, underscoring the global unity against mental health stigma. Zoe's impactful work first caught the attention of Thomas Sutherland from RTEP on LinkedIn. Tom picked up the following article (http://tinyurl.com/bdfz58w2) and reached out to Zoe. This led to a collaborative interview on Round Table Radio with Jacques van Wyk. Recognizing the severity of the global suicide crisis, which claims over 700,000 lives annually and particularly affects young men, we are acutely aware of the urgency of this issue. In the UK, men represent about 75% of all suicide cases, a statistic mirrored in South Africa, highlighting the need for focused interventions. Building on our support, we are thrilled to consider collaborating with Zoe to introduce 'Hike to Heal' in South African settings. By utilizing our beautiful natural landscapes, we aim to develop meaningful programs that focus on men's health, complementing Zoe's commitment to mental health awareness and suicide prevention. PASSING OF THE BUCK – ROUND TABLE PE WEST 142
I always wondered when I will receive the Buck. I received an invite from Schalk to meet up for a drink and to my surprise after supper the buck came up in conversation. I received the buck during May 2023 and have successfully passed this buck on to Cornel 28 July 2023. It was great. This was my first time to receive the buch and also to pass it on. I did not know what the process would be but fellow tabler Cornel explained the tradition (and penalties) for passing the buck. It was an informative 1 on 1 get to know a fellow tabler. We engaged in a lot of random chatter, chats about our table and the Looking forward to receiving the buck again in the near future. By Dewald Niemand INKUNDLA | JAN 2024 | 10
On 30 August 2023 a warrant for my arrest was issued and I was able to spread the news far and wide between family, friends and clients. I was busy in the office when the security team came to do the arrest and I had them scrambling as I made a run for it and after being cuffed, also trying to escape! They had to search for the keys of the cuffs! They could not have it that easy! I was fun watching the other prisoners being arrested, especially in public, as the people around them were really worried. Once we were sentenced by the very serious judge and locked up, the work began to raise enough bail money to be able to apply for appeal. Delicious snacks with live worms were served and we were kept well hydrated. I was lucky with responsive donors. A large cake was delivered and yes, just like in the cartoons, there was a saw blade hidden in the cake! I was certainly not going to jeopardise my release by trying to escape, but enjoyed the energy the extra sugar gave, as I was not really keen on worms and crackers. I found this experience loads of fun and for a great cause. Because the Round Table is a well established and famous institution, donors don’t hesitate to contribute and you are having loads of fun while collecting. By Lorette Terry

Vos Botha RTSA VP Candidate Statement I am Andre Vos Botha, I am not betrothed, nor do I have any offspring. Family is, however, very close to my heart, and I am a big advocate for great family vibes as it spreads happiness. I was born in Dordrecht in the Eastern Cape and was schooled in Queenstown (home of Queenstown 16). I am currently residing in Polokwane in the Limpopo Provance of South Africa. I am an Occupational Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Manager of a large Construction Company. I was introduced to Round Table in 2007, where I had to pitch tents at the Sabie Tube race for the members of Impala 157; I was again invited to join the event in 2008 as my Manager at the time was a Tabler. Only in January 2015 was I formally invited to a business meeting of Impala 157. After the first meeting, I never looked back. I was inducted in January 2016. The most frequently asked question to a new tabler or any other tabler is, “Why did you join Table?” My question is however, why do you stay in Table? My reasons are as follows: 1.Round Table can be seen as the University of Life. 2. It is one of the only young men’s Organisations where we, as men, can make a difference in communities while having fun. 3.It opens up a network of fellowship second to none, not only in your town, area or Country but globally. 4.It gives us a purpose in life and a sense of belonging. After going through the ranks, I was privileged to serve my Table as Chairman. My passion for this Organisation got me
wanting more; I then put my name in the Hat for Bushveld Area Vice and then Bushveld Area Chairman, where I served on the ASSCO under the leadership of Stefan Grobler. This was the platform where #Impactfulchange was driven. I was honoured by President Mr Grobler with an Exceptional Service Award at the ARTSA Banquet.
RTSA will remain but our own. Round Table benefits not only the communities we operate in but also the members that make a difference. I have always said what you put into this Organisation, you will receive back in abundance. Not financially but in a wealth of knowledge, fellowship networks and the opportunity to grow.
President Werner Swanepoel then asked me to be his Secretary for the year; even though I took over the portfolio three months into the term, it was an absolute honour to serve the Association at that level. This is when you realise how significant this organisation's impact is and the reach of #impactfulchange. President Louis Radley then asked me to serve a second term as Association Secretary, where I am currently serving.
As a candidate for Vice President of Round Table Southern Africa, I am committed to putting every effort into ensuring that our Organisation grows in members and, ultimately, as an entity. To focus on Areas with difficulty in membership and assist them to the best of my ability. Ensure that membership plans relevant to each Area and Table are available and suitable. Work closely with Areas and Tables to ensure effective, implementable, and relevant membership plans. My theme for the term will be “Power of Influence.”
I greatly believe in the two parts of influence, Positive and Negative. We must use our influence so that positivity is the norm and not the exception. This Organisation, with a focus on #impactfulchange, provides the perfect platform for us to influence people positively. This is precisely why I would like to put my name up for leadership positions, starting with Vice President and, ultimately, President of this Association. To influence people, our people of our Association, the Association we all love so dearly. To ensure the longevity of RTSA so that our children will still have the opportunity and the honour to make an #impactfulchange in their communities and have the opportunity to be part of the brotherhood of fellowship across the globe. No one else’s responsible for ensuring

Matlosane 45 Bar Olympics In a spirited effort to blend camaraderie with a touch of healthy competition, Matlosane 45 embarked on a memorable journey by organizing the first-ever Bar Olympics as part of the Movember campaign and co-part membership drive. What ensued was not just a success but a testament to the vibrant spirit of the Round Table. The atmospheree was charged with enthusiasm as all ten teams eagerly took up the challenge, transforming the Bar Olympics into a resounding triumph. With beer pong, darts, and pool setting the stage, the knock-out style competition kept the participants on the edge of their seats. The event served as a dynamic platform, not only for the existing members but also as a means to reach out to new faces. As Round Table, we welcomed new acquaintances and forged connections with individuals who resonated with our mission. The exposure gained through the Bar Olympics extended beyond the bounds of the event itself. A new guest is set to join our ranks at the next meeting, drawn in by the dynamic and engaging nature of the Bar Olympics. It’s a testament to the success of the event in not just fostering fun but also in broadening our Round Table family. Heartfelt congratulations are in order for the deserving winners, marking the initiation of what promises to be an annual tradition. The Bar Olympics demonstrated that blending purpose with pleasure can yield remarkable results, and we look forward to raising the bar even higher in the years to come. As the first chapter of our annual Bar Olympics concludes, we bid farewell with a resounding “Cheers!” and eagerly anticipate the next round of spirited competition and community building. 3RD ASSCO @ PAARL Paarl 44, had the privileged of hosting the 3rd ASSCO at our clubhouse. It was a memorable weekend with great fellowship between the tablers. The ladies tour was held at Rickety Bridge wine farm, where they each made their own bottle of wine, whilst the men held their meeting. The evening everyone got together at the clubhouse and had a great time.

Wish Week 2023 On the 15th of December 2023, Potchefstroom 47 once again did another edition of Wish Week. This project entails helping those in need through making some of their wishes true. During the last couple of Months of 2023, we shared and advertised the project we are running, and the results were quite impressive. We received 35 wishes from people in the community who were in desperate need. So, when the day arrived, all the shopping was done, and all the parcels were loaded into the delivery vehicle we commandeered. Myself, along with

This project usually takes a toll on you, in the sense seeing all that goes on around you when you might not sometime be aware of everything. You get to deal with a lot of pain and sorrow and are a part of so many lives. However, you also have the benefit of helping someone in their hour of need and feel grateful for what you have. That is the beauty of this project.
When the sun sat later the day, we were relieved and happy with the work we did. We could say with pride and passion that we made a positive impact on 35 people of the community.

45's New Year's As the clock struck midnight and the sky erupted in a symphony of fireworks, Matlosane 45 bid farewell to 2023 in a spectacular celebration at Jan-Albert's river house. This New Year's Eve was not just an event; it was a testament to the camaraderie and brotherhood that defines Matlosane 45. Nestled by the river, the venue set the stage for an unforgettable night of revelry. Laughter echoed through the air as the Matlosane 45 family came together to welcome 2024 with open arms. The night was a kaleidoscope of joy, from shared jokes to spontaneous dancing that continued well into the early hours. Before the clock struck twelve, the festivities kicked off with a delightful
sundowner cruise on the boat. The gentle river breeze, the golden hues of the setting sun, and the company of fellow tablers created a magical prelude to the night's main event. As the stars emerged in the night sky, the revelry moved to the heart of the celebration. Music filled the air, and the dance floor became a stage for the Matlosane 45 family to showcase their moves. The New Year's Eve party wasn't just an ordinary gathering; it was a testament to the bonds that bind the members of Matlosane 45 as true brothers. While some opted for the adventure of camping under the stars, others sought refuge in the house for a good night's sleep. The morning after, however, brought its own set of challenges as

those who braved the tents faced the task of dismantling their temporary abodes with the echoes of the previous night still ringing in their heads. As the sun rose on the first day of 2024, Matlosane 45 looked back on a night of shared joy, laughter, and the reaffirmation of the bonds that make this group a true family. The Sub-regional World Children’s Day Parade After such a fulfilling and fun filled diner that was excellently hosted by Sunshine Walvis Bay Child and Family Centre, one should not be able to wake up early for anything especially a parade. But everyone seemed to have the excitement to keep them going, me included. The organizers of the event had planned a parade for us that would start at 8 am across the town of Walvis Bay. The parade was to start at the open truck stop opposite Cymot in the industrial area. The police band, escort, and the fire truck were the first ones on the scene to kick start the event. The school buses started arriving one by one and you are probably wondering why I was so early. They don’t need to know but I was secretly raiding the parade, ha. I was there to raid selfies, conversations with children and prominent figures. But most importantly to show off my rondel. After being invited to the dinner, I felt it was the right thing to do. I met a lot of UNICEF staff, members of the press,
students, and our sunshine children with the staff. It was amazing fun to parade to showcase children’s rights on the world children's day. The walk finally started at 9 am ‘African time’ when everyone had arrived, and the police band could start us off with some of their hit songs. We marched along Sam Nujoma Avenue towards the CBD. As we approached the CBD, we turned onto 11th road towards Jan Wilken stadium where there was a show and speakers prepared for the children. The reception that the parade received from the residents of Walvis Bay who were driving, walking, or in their houses was heartwarming. Drivers would honk, shout, and ask for UNICEF and visitor nations flags. Pedestrians and house residents would come and take photos with their phones to show support and appreciation. The children held message banners and danced to the police band or their own songs that would randomly erupt from the crowd. Some of the messages that the children displayed were: “Education is a right”,

“It all starts with education”, “Stop drug abuse”, “Peace for every child”, and many others that encouraged not to suppress the expression of children in society. It was an amazing experience which I would gladly go for again and encourage members of our communities to be involved in for a good course. In Africa we have a saying, “It takes a village to raise a child” and it is amazing to see members of community, companies, international organizations, and government delegations come together to further systems that foster the healthy upbringing of children free from abuse and violence. Goodwill agents are a treasure that should be supported, protected and promoted if we are to continue our objective of furthering the establishment of peace and goodwill. Walvis Bay 36 Christmas social meeting A Christmas, Chris couldn’t miss. On 09 December 2023 the Round Table 36 members and families all gathered for a last farewell social at the club house to exchange gifts, share the holiday spirit and reminisce in the memories made during the past year. As one of the latest members to have joined the Round Table 36 family I have to say this event truly brought out the meaning of Christmas and Family in a way I’ve never seen before. We started the day bright and early gathering all our ingredients and equipment that would be needed for the much anticipated “cookoff” to be held during the course of the day. As the members and their loved ones started to arrive, we slowly started seeing our Christmas tree growing larger and larger with gifts and the smiles on the faces of our families and children’s growing wider and wider. Much to our surprise, we were all divided
into random groups for the main event of the day and having been delt dishes to prepare with little to no experience it was quick and effective communication that had to be established to make this a success. With the arrival of our honorary guests, Mayor Trevino Forbes and his family, the stakes were at an alltime high. With only a few spills and hiccups later we slowly started to see the sign of relief on the team’s faces as all of our dishes started coming together. With all our cooking finally coming to an end our appointed judges sampled all of the wonderful meals and it was of course, with no doubt at all, the Malva Pudding that took home the prize as the best dish of the day (big thanks going to Edrich, PJ and myself). 41’er Riaan Lottering ended the formalities for the day with a wonderful speech truly reminding us of what it means to be part of the 36 family and

how precious and important our time with our families really are. This signaled the final event for the day where our gifts were exchanged, and some members having competed in a wrestling match with several excruciating rolls of newspaper and tape used as “wrapping paper”. Nevertheless, having seen all of the members present at the event share laughs, memories, stories and ideas was truly something to experience and has just reassured me of the commitment and trust that we have built with one another. Walvis Bay 36 Donating Blood In a remarkable display of community spirit and commitment to saving lives, Round Table Walvis Bay 36 recently concluded its annual blood donation drive, a philanthropic endeavor that underscores the organization's dedication to making a positive impact. Held every Tuesday over five separate occasions, members of Round Table Walvis Bay 36 rallied together to donate a total of 23 units of blood, with each unit amounting to 0.5 liters. This collective effort has the potential to save up to 69 lives, a testament to the power of unified action in contributing to the well-being of the broader community. The significance of the blood donation
drive lies not only in the quantity of blood collected but also in the understanding that each unit donated has the potential to save up to three lives. The 23 units contributed by the 11 individuals from Round Table Walvis Bay 36 reflect a selfless act that goes beyond mere numbers, showcasing the organization's commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Through this initiative, Round Table Walvis Bay 36 members have exemplified the true spirit of community service, providing a lifeline to those facing critical health challenges.

This annual endeavor not only promotes awareness about the vital need for blood donations but also serves as an inspiring example of how a dedicated group of individuals can positively impact their community. Jar of Hope project On the 23rd of December 2023 we at Port Alfred 177 hopped in our cars, armed with some burger patties and buns, gift packs for the kids, a massive anonymous donation and 100 jars from our Jar of Hope project with Port Alfred Ladies Circle No.29. We soon arrived at Jehova Jirah Haven ready to make some lunch and hopefully put a few smiles on some faces. We got out and were immediately swarmed by children so, so happy to have some new company. None of us were prepared for the overwhelming response. Looking around you could seldomly spot a tabler or ladies leg without a child in the arms or walking hand in hand listening to a very excited child tell a story. This was a life changing day for all of us at 177, we learned how little it takes to make such a huge change in their lives. Julius, our then chairman has a very soft spot for JJh, being one of the children orphaned
there. We had often heard stories about how much it would change us but never knew the true impact it would have on us. We now do. We were sent on our way with a delicious cake and a few beautiful songs prepared and sung wonderfully by the children to show their appreciation. What a day! All in all, we delivered just over R35k to JJh on that day, but more importantly, a little hope that there is still good in the world. Thank you to everyone single person who was involved in this! Delivering some #impactfulchange with some quality #roundtable ladies and gents! Our jar of hope project kicked off with a bang and a target of 200 jars. Armed with our wits, our best smiles, and a well-rehearsed sponsorship speech, we headed to our local grocery stores and started leaning on our community. Boy oh boy did they deliver! We collected

enough food to fill 346 jars and would have been able to fill a few more if we could get our hands on some more jars. We teamed up with the Ladies Circle and Port Alfred high school to make this project a huge success. This project enabled us to donate a meal to 2768 people in need. Margaret Mead once said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has." We are proud to be part of this organization that is helping change the world! By Grant Kew
RT158 Family weekend Jaarliks hou Bloemfontein 158 ‘n “family weekend” om ons jaar af te sluit en die families bietjie te bederf vir die jaar se harde werk en om op te maak vir ons tyd weg van hulle af… 4 jaar terug in 2019 het dit toevallig so uitgewerk dat ons familie naweek op dieselfde naweek geval het as die “World Cup final” waar ons vir Engeland in die finaal vermorsel het… Sonder enige twyfel toe die taak aan my uitgedeel is het ek die datum sommer weer vasgemaak op die “world cup” finaal in Oktober 2023 vir ons “family weekend met” dieselde resultate in gedagte. “History repeat” homself mos maar en wat kan beter wees om dit saam met family te kan vier… Ons was by Meriko landgoed net buite Bloemfontein waar ons van die Vrydag
tot die Sondag spandeer het saam met ons geliefdes. Die “venue” was perfek met springkastele, swembad gazeebos, braaiers en lapa… die perfekte “setup” vir n “great” tyd. Ons het ons jaarlikse sport trofee ook gedoen wat bestaan uit verskeie items en die persoon met die meeste punte uit elke item vat natuurlik die trofee. Items die jaar het bestaan uit, • • • • •

Dit was n fees en soos die verversings begin aandeel speel het nog n groter fees maar op die ou einde het dit ‘n wenner te wee gebring.

Dit alles was natuurlik die ideale opbou tot die “main event, World cup final” soos 4 jaar terug. Daar was gevloek, geskreeu, gehuil en gelag maar aan die einde van die aand was die emosies hoog toe ons weer gekroon is as die beste span in die HELE AARDE !!! DIt het natuurlik die fondasie gelê vir n lang aand van baie pret en plesier. Sondag is ons almal weer op ons pad huistoe met ons harte vol kameraadskap saam Tafelaars en families. SOOOO die opsomming van die berig. As ons wil hê die bokke moet weer die “world cup” wen, vra my om ‘n “family weekend” te reël dan sal daar nie teleurstelling wees nie. ROUND TABLE BLOEMFONTEIN 158 Annual Henc Cronje Children’s day Round Table Bloemfontein 158 annually hosts a children’s day called Henc Kronje Kinderdag, it’s a way for our table to give orphan children a Christmas gift and bring some joy to their festive season. It is a long-standing tradition between our sister tables to support this event of ours. We were fortunate to receive 100 Euros from a 41’ner from The Netherlands, 158 Euros from our sister table in The Netherlands, 158 Euros from our sister table in Germany and 258 Euros from our sister table in India. We hosted the event on 1 December 2023 at Jumperslane in Bloemfontein, the children each received their own pizza and slush puppy, they also received wrist bands that enabled them to jump on the trampolines with no time limit.
Two weeks before the event we provided all the children with wish list pamphlets to give us three alternatives of what that they would want as a Christmas gift. We put together a care package which included basic sanitary items such as shampoo, bodywash, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. and each child also received their very own personalised gift. The gits were given to the children from our very own Santa Claus Conrad van der Merwe. All together the day was a major success, and it is a privilege to see the joy on these children’s faces when receiving something that is meant just for themselves. We look forward to hosting this event next year.

Time Management During this year, we all hear a lot that “I can’t attend, I’m busy at work” etc. I am one of those that used some of those lines when I can’t attend meetings or events of Table. So I decided to do an article on time management in a nutshell. Effective time management can help you increase your productivity, reduce your stress, improve your work-life balance, and advance your career. Some of the key time management skills that can be used in you professional career and Table Career include: Organizing your work life: This involves keeping your workspace, schedule, and files tidy and accessible. It also means using a calendar, a to-do list, or a project management tool to plan your tasks and deadlines. Prioritizing your tasks: This means identifying the most important and urgent tasks and completing them first, while avoiding distractions and procrastination. Avoiding multitasking: Multitasking can reduce your focus, efficiency, and quality of work. It is better to focus on one task at a time and finish it before moving on to the next one. You can also group similar tasks together and batch them to save time and energy. Taking scheduled breaks: Working for long periods without rest can lead to fatigue, burnout, and decreased performance. Taking regular breaks can help you recharge your energy, refresh your mind, and improve your creativity and productivity. You can use techniques like the Pomodoro method or the 52/17 rule to schedule your work and break intervals. Keeping meetings purposeful: Meetings can be a valuable way to communicate, collaborate, and solve problems, but they can also be a waste of time if they are not well-planned and executed. To make your meetings more effective, you should have a clear agenda, invite only the relevant people, start and end on time, and follow up with action items and feedback. This counts for Table business meetings as well. Practicing your good habits: Time management is not a one-time thing, but a continuous process of learning and improving. To become a better time manager, you need to practice your good habits consistently and monitor your progress and results. You can also seek feedback, learn from others, and adapt to changing situations and demands. The following might be preaching to the wrong crowed since we are already part of a great organization doing great things in the community. Charity Work: It is a great way to give back to your community and make a positive difference in someone’s life. After hour charity work can also benefit you in many ways, such as: Making new friends and contacts: Volunteering can help you meet new people who share your interests and values, and expand your network and social skills. Improving your mental and physical health: Volunteering can reduce your stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Advancing your career: Volunteering can help you learn new skills, gain experience, demonstrate your abilities, and enhance your resume and portfolio. Having fun and enjoyment: Volunteering can be a fun and rewarding activity that allows you to explore your passions, hobbies, and talents, and have a good time. Careers and family responsibilities are important, but we as men need time to socialize and be part of a great bunch of guys. My First Area as a DD
I attended yet another area for 2023, what a lekker one it was. It all started on Friday the 13th when Bertus, Eunice and I took the road from Walvis Bay. We had a long drive to Usakos when I got a call on my phone, I read who was calling and the first thing that came to my mind was “what work did I not do”. I answered the phone with a verskrikte voice and then first thing before I could greet Leigh properly was “do you want quick cash”, so I said money is money.. I was promised that if I am sober and the designated driver I will get some money, I agreed. The first night I arrived at the area was all good and fun, I enjoyed being soberish (after a beer or 4). We had a lekker dinner and then we went back to Ian’s place in Elisenheim. Everyone was kuiering lekker and there Brian came with his singing and amazing taste in metal.. Ian got called a few times by his neighbours because of Brian.
All went well the next morning when getting everything ready for the meeting. It was a fruitful meeting and I made sure Walvis were on the minutes. We had 3 inductions at the area that was Black Parrow (Taonga), Fat Parrow (Chris) and Décee. As soon as Décee was inducted to Whk 34, I interrupted the meeting to offer him a transfer form since Walvis is taking over all the Whk 34 members. After the meeting, Leigh, Ian and I went back to Elisenheim to get changed for the party, skipping lunch completely. Ian, Tamara and Leigh warmed up with a shot and we went for the party. It was a great party especially when we had lekker braaivleis and aartappel slaai for dinner. Me and Leigh started getting tired, but Brian and Ian was mos weer op hulle stukke. Eventually we got them out of the bar and in the car where in the car it was

Brian, Jacky, Leigh , Tammy and I and in the canopy we had a Ian and Danial laying down as if they are sardines. As I was driving out of Windhoek on my way to Elisenheim I pulled over because someone had to urgently take a wee. After that I drove all back home safely and I thought the grappe had stopped. I opened the canopy to let the two humans out, when Ian asked me did I need to blow when I got pulled over, and he explained how quiet he and Danial tried to be when I got “pulled over”. We all just laughed and had a lekker chill evening further on Ian’s couch. The next morning we took the road back to Walvis after yet another great Area. I personally learnt quite a tremendous amount of lessons in table already and I cannot wait to see where table will bring me in a few years! By Edrich Gerber
Hosting of Roy from Walcheren 26, Netherlands I had the privilege to be part of hosting international guest from Round Table 26 Walcheren from the Netherlands. It was amazing meeting other tablers and getting to know what their point of view towards the organization is about. Roy came down to Walvis Bay for some work, and then he wanted to meet up. He brought a potential guest with him that is really interested in what Round Table is about. Getting to know these gents a bit better showed me there is more people on earth that is also freaks to party. We started off at the clubhouse where we all had a few beers and had a braai. They said that they have never had such nice food to eat in their lives! We had loads of fun at the clubhouse,
taking photos enjoying ourselves and actually getting to know one another. And that is one of the factors that I love about Tabling. The networking, the fellowship and the brotherhood bond being built through that process. We all exchanged pins and coins. After the meeting at the clubhouse, Roy, Chris, Mr T, Roy’s guest and I went to Pirates Wreck for a drink or two. It was great getting to know their fellow crew members as well. After that they really wanted to go to none other than Rio-Copa. So, we went there and had a few drinks there as well. Later Chris, Mr T and I went home after a night that carries lifelong memories. I really wish that we can have that more often, because bonds are created and

brotherhood is being built. And who knows, maybe one day in the future you’re stuck in the Netherlands. Then you have a contact and so forth. Roy said the next day when he really want to come visit us again. It was a very great experience for him at Walvis Bay 36. He said our clubhouse is great and that the hospitality is something he has never experienced before. On January 10, 2023, Round Table 36 Walvis Bay had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Roy Willard, a fellow member from Round Table 26 Walcheren. Given the shared industry interest between Roy and one of our members, we seized the opportunity to showcase our town, port and some of the local companies. Roy and his colleague, Melvin Brokx, were treated to a comprehensive tour of the Walvis Bay port, providing them with firsthand insight into local operations. Additionally, Martin Degele, one of our 41ers, generously offered a private tour of their company, highlighting
their expertise in servicing, treating, and testing various safety equipment. This was quite a sight to behold and something very few people actually get the chance to witness. Later that afternoon, we gathered at the clubhouse for a traditional braai, where drinks flowed, fires burned, and stories were exchanged of how the 2 clubs operate and the milestones we’ve all accomplished. It was amazing to see how small the world can be when you’re part of something bigger like Round Table. Even the young Mr. Melvin was astonished by how someone from across the world can manage to meet up with a
group of strangers for the first time and be treated as if we’ve known one another for years (who knows, there might a new member joining Round Table 26 Walcheren one of these days) Some of us ventured out for a few night caps, where we had the pleasure of meeting Roy's other colleagues. Times are Tough Times are tough in Namibia now. Ever since the pandemic many people have been retrenched, businesses have folded, and salaries have been sliced. During the pandemic we received a massive donation of R200,000 in which we had to use for food parcels. This got us roughly 400 food parcels to distribute for the “First Round”. The value of the parcels is roughly R500 each. 1 food parcel can feed a family of 4 for about a month. We assumed that we’d have these parcels for several months, if not for a year. We were wrong. After word got out that we were giving away food parcels we received requests from all over Namibia. We had to vet several requests. Some requests came from the same people using different numbers. We had also assisted a soup kitchen, T.A.S.K, with loads of food items and parcels that feed kids every week. We then requested more money and thankfully enough we received more money. We bought more. Then we were donated more. During the first two years we had assisted 313 families with food parcels, and this doesn’t count the 1000’s of children we assisted through the soup kitchen. We’ve bought more food parcels this year and were even donated another 50x parcels. Throughout the 2023/24 year alone we’ve assisted over 100 families. The biggest eye opener was finding families living in garages in town. This was never the norm in Namibia, but the pandemic ruined many lives. It’s never fun to watch someone live a certain lifestyle and then watch them lose everything. At least we try helping the families not worry about where to get their next meal. By Leigh Westerdale

Dear Round Table - Walvisbay Thank you very much for the donation that we received from you today towards our Soup Kichen of N$10 000 in food vouchers at Multisave and at Fruit and Veg ! TASK has been feeding children in the impoverished areas of Narraville and Kuisebmond since the first lockdown in March 2020 so this project has been operating for almost 4 years. We have been fighting hunger all this time since Covid and have not given up the fight.

We are a proud Namibian project run by three Namibian ladies from different cultures. Our duties are shopping, delivering food, raising money, cooking, and cleaning, feeding the children, continuous social media updates and spending time with the kids as well as with volunteers from the local schools that often jump in to assist us especially during the school holidays. I do a lot of driving around in my lovely 24-year-old TDI land rover pick up.

Victoria Borowski from a school in Swakopmund came to help us again last week during her school holidays. We get absolutely no funding ZERO from our Government and so far, we have luckily succeeded to raise money since the project began and without people like you, we would never have been able to have done this so thank you for helping us. We are still on the same programme of feeding kids 3 x per week up to 1000 meals per week every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We have a website now and this is updated via Instagram every week. Difference Between Kegel and Bowls Fellow Tablers Joppi loves bowls, most invites and phone calls I received between August and September from him involved bowls. His obsession with Kegel and Bowls tells me he could be a bowling world champion in another life, on the lawn and in the alley. But it could be that his talent came short notice, pun intended. On the 18th of August 2023 I attended Joppi’s Kegel social league at Atlantis sports club and I had an amazing evening with tablers, 41ers and their respective families. It was an anticipated Friday as I was promised to be taught bowling by my neighbour and brother in table Joppi Kotze but when we got there, he was flipping burgers instead. The guys are fun to be around as always, never a dull moment when there is two or more people from table gathered for some fellowship fun. I have been on the bowling alley before, many times, but this was completely different. It was then all up to me to find my way around the alley but the lovely thing about Round Table is that you are never on your own, there is always a brother
willing to help. So many names to write all of them down but first things first, Steven Peake is always there to show you how to roll a couple of bowls before, during and after the games. We got a few rounds of warmup in before the fun began, we were then put up in teams of 41ers versus current tablers and I had a lot to learn about this bowling because the alley was so narrow and the balls smaller than I am used to at entertainment centres. Things are not as straightforward as they seem. I seemed competitive and confident that night but so far away from the top performers. Across from Chris we had our fair share of gutters and misses but it was a good bonding activity. Melissa and Joppi prepared a burger that was so good that I could not focus, hence my bad performance. Overall, it was a wonderful evening with Leigh taking the trophy with a loud celebration as expected.
good fun. Dani, Rochelle, and I showed up to the league as part of our socializing and supporting our neighboring Bowls club. It was cold windy evening but that did not stop Rochelle from carrying the team with a performance that surprised everyone. She was handling the bowls like a pro and laying up the line like a winner. The game was so close and unfortunately ended in a fun filled defeat that did not spoil our spirits and team chemistry. I had more experiences with 2 more invites where I got to team up with Edrich and Steven Peake who is full of experience and always willing to teach. Then I had the opportunity to team up with Joppi and Leigh where the gutter rule of Jägermeister shorts was obsessed at the end of the game. A definite recommendation I would give to every tabler to take part in for the sake of table fellowship with teammates and companies that compete in the league.

A pool party that turned into a day of unbridled fun, laughter, and a few unexpected spills. As we gathered at Ryno's place, excitement buzzed in the air. The central attraction? A colossal water slide that promised an afternoon reminiscent of carefree childhood days. And boy, did we embrace it with the enthusiasm of kids let loose in a candy store. The slip and slide action kicked off, and soon enough, grown men were sliding down with the kind of abandon you'd expect from a bunch of teenagers. It didn't take long for the first few mishaps, but hey, what's a pool party without a bit of adventure and a few laughs at the expense of some spectacular wipeouts? As we dried off and caught our breath, the aroma of delicious food wafted through the air. Ryno, true to the Spoon tradition, had prepared a feast that mirrored the joy of the day. From grilled delights to savory sides, the spread was as diverse as the members of Matlosane 45. The fellowship around the table was as vibrant as the colours of the pool toys. Amidst bites of mouth-watering dishes, we shared stories, jokes, and the kind of camaraderie that defines the essence of Matlosane 45. It was a day that not only filled our bellies but also rejuvenated our spirits for the adventures that lie ahead in the year. Throughout the year, The Spoon is passed among members, and when it graces your kitchen, the responsibility is to host a dinner for the entire group. This ritual not only celebrates food but strengthens the bonds that tie our unique community together. My tenure with The Spoon was a prolonged one, interrupted by the whirlwind of planning and executing my wedding. The wooden utensil patiently awaited its return to the kitchen, and when the moment finally arrived, it marked the beginning of an unforgettable culinary adventure. Despite the warm December weather, we decided to open the swimming pool, creating a festive atmosphere for the occasion. A braai added sizzle to the celebration, the aroma of grilling meats mingling with laughter and camaraderie. As I took my turn orchestrating the culinary symphony, I realized the profound joy of creating a meal not just for oneself but for those you hold dear. The Spoon’s magic lies not only in its wooden structure but in the way it binds us together through shared meals and the spirit of generosity. Christmas Dinner for Bus Project Attendees On Friday the 08th of December, Potchefstroom 47 Round Table hosted a Christmas dinner for all the people who make use of their bus project throughout the year. To give a quick overview, the bus project entails members of RT47 driving the elderly to and from town on the first Thursday of each month. These people are very grateful and very depended on these trips as they do not always have anyone helping them or other means of transportation. So, by keeping with tradition, the gents made sure that the 2023 Christmas Dinner would also be a massive success. The morning of that Friday was however a bit rough as the previous night was meeting night, but nevertheless the boys were all eager to make sure all was clean and tidy and ready for our elderly family. Soon it was time to get the party started and I set off to collect the party guest with the bus. With all 30 of them loaded, we made our way back to the
RT47 clubhouse in the most heat full of conditions. Upon arrival the place looked beautiful! There were places set around our Table for everyone, the room was filled with festive decorations that just screamed Christmas and the sound of Boney M filled the air. Our guest was met with friendly faces and ice-cold mimosas, which they seemed to enjoy way too much, while we set out to prepare the fires for the delicious food. We went around the table, as per normal tradition, to determine how long some of these people were using our bus service. It was heartwarming to hear that some of these aunties have been driving with RT47 for 23 years and was amazing to acknowledge that this tradition has been kept alive for so long. After we blessed the food and the table with all these lovely faces, the food was served, and we all played our parts of waiters very well. Smiles filled up quickly and laughter and voices grew dim as they enjoyed the feast in front of them. This was our Q to start with speeches and to make sure they would

pay attention. To some of their shock, we gave them praise and gratitude for being a part of our lives. What they might not always know is that they play just as an important role in our live, as we do to them. This followed with desert and Christmas goodie bags all around, and another round of mimosas before their afternoon nap, to close the deal on this special day. Now with their bellies full, smiles in overdrive, good spirts in their harts and sugared up, it was time to head home again. Driving back along the streets of Potchefstroom, compliments and good stories were already starting. You could hear in their voices that this was truly special ad that they enjoyed it. 68th AGM of Round Table 47 Potchefstroom Thursday the 18th of January 2024 marked the anniversary of RT47 along with the 68th AGM that would take place at the Willows Garden Hotel, on the outskirts of Potchefstroom. The buildup to the event was clearly a long wait, as many of our members were enjoying a lovely December Holiday. That allowed for some excitement in the beginning of January 2024 for the longawaited AGM. Now for RT47 POTCH, this is a very special evening. It could almost be considered as the highlight of the year. The fact that we get together for the first time in that year to celebrate the birth, close of the previous year, and start the new year fresh and eager, is truly amazing. Now with all of us dressed to the nines, the night started at 18h30 with a welcoming Whiskey and the sunset behind us. It was great to see everyone again after a long break, and even better to bet right back into Table. With the meeting finally on its way, the
night went along as one could plan. Perfect! The reports and delivering of the reports were all in good order and effective. The food was delicious, and the drinks were kept full at a steady pace. This was also the time of the night where we gave some glory and fame to some of the members, by handing out some nice trophies. The hype was clearly there, and we did not hesitate. Hannes won the Tabler of the Year award, Myself shared the IRO award with Mike. Divan received praise with the Comradery award and all the travels he embarks on. JP and Hannes shared the award for forming a lasting click, and JP finished with the Spirit award also. It remains a special tradition and moment for many. The chance to be recognized and appreciated will always help you grow within yourself. This also contributes to the friendly bantering that will continue for the rest of the year. Now with all those activities handed of, the night took a parking space in the serious division. The election of the new

Clubhouse Preparations: Break-in & Cleaning Things at the Potchefstroom 47 Clubhouse were not all moonlight and roses the past three months. We have had experienced a lot of disasters and mishaps that were not planned for… To start at the beginning, and to go into every single detail of the sorrow we had might take a lot of time, so I would rather write the summary of the events and elaborate on how we planned and acted out the solution. From mid-October 2023 to January 2024, we as RT47 experienced several break-ins totaling at 9 different attempts. We have lost some personal items, which we are very sad for along with other pieces of regalia and inventory usually used at the bar area of the clubhouse. There were also quite some damages to the physical structure made that needed urgent attention. So, now here I am writing a piece of the aftermath of this last quarter. With some effort and more than one or two phone calls, we did manage to restore some of weaknesses, and we have an open mind and positive attitude going forward. Starting off with the basics, we welded over all the damaged metal burglar proofing and added extra support to the frames of the burglar proofing, by welding long lengths of 3mm flat bar over all the windows. This was luckily done by a past Round Table member, and we managed to sort this issue out quite quickly. We are truly grateful for this and appreciate his work. Then the next step was to replace some of the broken windows, and to also build close certain parts where they broke out the entire window frames. This was done much quicker, and we got this closed in a day with some more help from the community. Now since we are still feeling a bit worried and concerned, we thought it good to make this clubhouse like a prison. No movement on the inside or the outside. We installed additional motion detection beams on the inside of the premises along with sensors on the doors and windows. Then we added outside motion detection beams for around the clubhouse which could be armed and disarmed via a smartphone. Thinking of all the work and construction that went into the improvements to security did cause for a bit of a mess. This of course forced us to do an additional cleaning, and I am talking CLEANING, to ensure we are set off properly for the year to come. It took about an entire Sunday and couple of after work weekdays to get this matter resolved. Going through every inch of the place, sorting and organizing what once was just piles of stuff/items. Looking back over all these things, I can’t help but feel bitter-sweet. Yes, on the one hand it was a lot of work and time we had to invest in bringing the clubhouse back to standards. Yes, we did manage to bond as a group while doing these activities and investing our time. But it still does not sit right that we also lost some of our history and stories. Although it could be seen as a physical attachment, our hearts were also involved with those items lost. Still, we stood up after falling and we are committed to push harder than ever before. I feel grateful for my team and for those individuals in the community who assisted us. All this work could not have been possible without them, and for that I am truly grateful. It was insightful to talk about these matters and to hear stories of people who have experienced it firsthand or know of people who struggle with these matters.

One saying that continuously came up was the fact that we need to talk about it. With this I agreed 100%. However, we don’t always feel comfortable talking about these serious matters and I do believe we can change this. For starters, just by having these events we are

In complete honesty, I do believe that this night was a necessity. Simply for the fact of it not being about Round Table, but rather on us, as men. To forget for a while that we are always chasing something we can’t always control and just to focus on ourselves. I would recommend continuing with these types of nights and to do them more often than just once a year. We do matter and our stories and problems need to be shared. Just to listen to the stories and to support each other.
Soon after the meeting I saw this new phrase acting. Hearing people talk and reaching out to go for tests or to start their own buddy system to break the silence and open to one another. Already we are making process and that is something to recon with.

Roving Dinner 2023 After a long year in the Stroom, there is nothing better than to end the year on a positive note and in high spirts. For us, we do it a bit different than the rest and break normal traditions. So, what does this all mean? Well, it is quite easy… we do not opt for the normal black tie gala dinner or just a casual braai… we do things differently! It all began 26 years ago when the old farts came up with the idea to go for a dress up theme party. The first theme was the letter “A”, dressing up accordingly with things that link up with the letter “A”. Now after 26 years we ended the year, and the long-standing tradition with the letter “Z”. Now we have established the theme, and the date was set for Saturday the 2nd of December. The plan was also forged and at sharply16h00 we all gathered at the RT47 clubhouse for mimosas / mimozaz and a beautiful Northwest sundowner. To say that people dressed up would be an understatement because they were dressed to the nines! Zondo Commision breakouts, Zebra’s, Zookeepers, Mr. & Mrs. Zeus and Zohan were there, and only to have named a few. Then we started travelling to our first pitstop of the evening, which was the Elgro Hotel in the heart of town. We rocked up there in our convoy and immediately received our drinks by the pool. As it was almost 50 degrees, it seemed fitting to jump in for a quick dip in clothes and all. To speak honestly… we were all inside roughly 5 minutes after getting there. Up next was starters, hosted at yours truly, the Wouts himself. Since I moved in the day before there was still many boxes around and empty cupboards, but when have that ever stopped a party? With fold up tables on the patio and the fire burning hot, the vibe was inevitable, and joy was spread all around. The dish, Mieliez and Sozatiez, was available as finger eats and feet were made through the que for a lovely appetizer. Party bus is leaving! My catchphrase for the evening as people made it to the cars for pitstop number two. Impala Hotel was just around the corner, and again upon arrival the drinks were already on the tables. To my recognition we took over the show and became the primary focus of the night. We were asked about our getups and why we would do such a thing… because we can and because we are tablers. Then I chanted again and we moved along to the Menezes Household. With a similar situation as myself, the Menezes household was also not 100% fit for hosting such a massive party. You see they were busy with an unexpected renovation, as the contractors squeezed them in just before years end. Nevertheless, a party was planned and a party we shall have! The place looked beautiful, and I must admit that they went all out with their theme of being Mr. & Mrs. Zeus with a real Greek atmosphere. Traditional food was served with the local drink being Zorba. We enjoyed ourselves and feasted properly as a family while having fun whilst doing so. On the road again to our final pitstop the party continued. Just to let the food settle, we enjoyed a quick Zombie Jam Jar at another local watering whole called Dia Bedabos. Once again, we took over the show as 20+ individuals took the center stage as we enjoyed each other’s company and recognition of the night and years success. With midnight creeping closer and closer, we had no choice than to head back to the clubhouse. Being a South African used to loadshedding, the 6 battery operated lights worked overtime and the portable speaker worked in overdrive. Yet, the party / show did go on… For dessert, a Zebra looking brownie was served and that sugar sure did its trick to boost some of our guest’s energy levels. From line dancing to singing along with the greats, we made sure to see the sunrise on that Sunday morning. With all of us being a bit tired and energized simultaneously, we enjoyed the company of each other for one last time as we looked over the horizon too see a Northwester sunrise. Looking back over the event, I can’t help smiling as I write this article. This is what true Tabler spirt feels like to me. All of us reaping the reward of an amazing year. To recognize the worthiness of our work and to celebrate it in true Table style. STNOFS 3rd Council Meeting & Swannie Braai On Saturday the 27th of January 2023, STNOFS Area held its 3rd Council Meeting for the term 23/24 in Stilfontein at the Lost Treasure. The day started off with a massive success as the gents decided to keep our tradition of a swannie braai alive. Now to give a bit of depth on this tradition for those who don’t know what this entails… Basically the idea is that whenever there is a STNOFS Area event, the people/ members attending have a small braai next to the road and have a 30min pitstop while having a small snack and drink. This tradition comes a long way and always seem to be fun while hyping everyone up beforehand. This however was one for the books. The day prior, I had an epiphany to extend the invitation to all those attending the council meeting, to stop for the sawnnie braai. The guys did not disappoint, some even drove past the venue just to be a
part of it and to join the meeting as a collective STNOFS unit. Except for the hosting table and 3 other attendees, the rest of us were all there, next to the road, having a braai with a cold one, and building for what laid ahead 10km down the road. Now for the meeting itself… This too was held and executed perfectly. The venue was spacious and very neat, allowing all of us to enjoy the formalities and business aspects. Like I mentioned before, the turnout was wonderful, and one could see the power of STNOFS. We also were honored with the rare sighting of our lovely 41ers, who appreciated the day with us. Further exciting and thrilling moments of the day was obviously the campaign for the position of STNOFS Area ViceChairman. 45. Both these candidates deliver a wonderful report, and we wish them all the best for the election, scheduled to take place at the STNOFS AGM. In my opinion it is wonderful to see so many campaigns for the coming year. Regardless of if it occurs on Club Level or ASSCO Level, it shows the passion and commitment from these individuals who want to show their dedication and willingness to the cause. It highlights the power within our shared organization that we all stive to go forward and to seek perfection and success. This year started off with the right amount of excitement and will boost the excitement within all of us. I for one am looking forward to a wonderful year of Table in STNOFS & ARTSA. Our relationship with Luipaardsvlei will be an ongoing one where we try to assist with their much-needed items as often as possible. PE PEARLS LADIES CIRCLE 19 SANTA SHOEBOX PROJECT 2023 PE Pearls Ladies Circle No. 19 decided to get together on 11 October 2023 for this lovely cause, where we arranged shoeboxes, assorted wrapping paper and decorations to stick onto the boxes; and oh, what fun we had! We absolutely love this cause, because of the adorable smile that this action will put onto the faces of the 1 girl (4 years old) and 1 boy (also 4 years old) to whom we pledged our shoeboxes. Christmas is about giving, and it is such a privilege to be a part of giving to these little ones that just don't have anything for Christmas. We paired up in teams to make up boxes, cutting little pictures out, adding ribbons and glitter to the boxes and covering them. The boy’s box was covered in paper with gold stars and the girl’s box was covered in pink wrapping paper. We used everything from feathers, elf stickers, pom poms to candy canes. The boxes were amazing, very colorful, full of fun, sparkly and ready for their little recipients. We then arranged all the contents we had bought to fill the boxes and tied the items together with color coded ribbons. Each one received an item of clothing, face cloth, soap, sweets, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a few toys. The boxes were chock-ablock full. We ended off the evening with some coffee and biscuits together. The ladies of PE Pearls LC19 went to do the Santa Shoebox drop off at Bay West Mall and took photos standing at their Christmas banner. While we were there, we came across the cutest 'PE Rocks' pebbles in various Christmas themes; there were reindeer, Santas, elves etc. The lady at the drop off was kind enough to offer us each one to take home with us.

EDENVALE LADIES CIRCLE 6 SANTA SHOEBOXES FOR FOUNTAIN OF LOVE
We were blessed to receive 62 Santa Shoe Boxes for all the children for Fountain of Love as well as 10 gift sets for the carers. We are truly grateful for the support from family and friends for all these boxes. Kayla, being Santa’s helper, ensured each box was inspected and every item was packed as per the requirements for each box. The children were so excited to receive their gifts and thanked the ladies with a song. Edenvale LC6 donated a Christmas Tree and all the kids helped to decorate the tree, which they absolutely loved! Edenvale LC6 bought cold drinks for the children as well as the cupcakes handed over that were made and decorated by the ladies of Edenvale LC6. It was a social too, bringing out their creative skills. Extra groceries were bought and donated, as Fountain of Love assists the community of families in the area.

PORT ALFRED LADIES CIRCLE 29 – JARS OF HOPE TO SUNSHINE WELLNESS CENTRE On the 10th of December 2023 we made our first drop off of jars from our Jars of Hope project. We donated 100 Jars to Sunshine Wellness Centre here in Port Alfred, they have played a major role in our community, and we were honoured to be able to lend a hand and look forward to future collaborations with them.

NEWCASTLE CROWNS LADIES CIRCLE 28 CHRISTMAS AT LA GRATITUDE OLD AGE HOME Christmas is a time for giving, and there is no greater gift than bringing joy and comfort to those who need it the most. The goal of this initiative was to brighten the faces of the elderly residents at La Gratitude Old Age Home in Newcastle. This effort was a collaborative endeavour with Round Table Ncandu 86 and the Newcastle Lions Club. On December 14th, 2023, presenting these gifts illuminated the faces of the elderly and filled our hearts with immense pride and joy, reaffirming our passion for what we do. The project was a remarkable success, allowing us to make impactful contributions in the following ways: 45 Gift bags tailored to fulfil the unique Christmas wishes of each elderly individual. PORT ALFRED LADIES CIRCLE 29 – SHA-LOUIS DANCE SHOW We were once again invited to run the tuckshop at our most prestigious dancing schools year end dance show by Sha-Louis Dance School. This is as usual such an awesome way to connect with our community and we look forward to their dance shows in 2024.

JACARANDA LADIES CIRCLE 36 – CHRISTMAS CARE BOX We started with our Christmas Care Project at the end of August to ensure that we received enough pledges for our beneficiary list of 48 children, from Laerskool Louis Leipoldt's Leipie Omgee, and a foster home also based in Lyttelton, that we wanted to make Christmas special for. Our project consisted out of either donating a virtual contribution to assist with a care box that contained toiletries, stationery item, new set of clothes and a toy; or by building your own box and handing it in before our deadline. Our goal was to make 48 children’s Christmas special, and halfway through our time frame our goal was exceeded with pledges, we then added another beneficiary to our list, Laerskool Garsfontein's Garsie Hand. In the end we assisted 80 children each with a Christmas Care gift box. It was quite a feat getting everything sorted, packed, and wrapped but in the end turned into a bit of a social and well-oiled machine. We hope and trust that if we attempt this again the coming festive season, that we can count on everyone's support in 2024 to make it bigger and better. Each box valued a total of R350, and sponsored boxes to package the gifts at R2 500.00, thus a project value of R30 150.00. We would like to thank everyone that jumped on board to make this a truly successful project and helped to bring a bit of joy to those that truly needed it this Christmas season. I would like to give a special thanks to the following, Sandton Ladies Circle 24, Round Table Pretoria 19, and Round Table Pretoria 87, as well as Christiaan Herbst for the donation of boxes.

ESTCOURT LADIES CIRCLE IN FORMATION POTJIE COMPETITION 2nd December 2023 was the day of smells in the air and amazing food, Estcourt Ladies Circle (in Formation) held our annual Potjie Competition at Battlefields Pub and Grub. Teams woke up early and lit their fires for a day full of laughs. This was held to help the Ladysmith Orphanage for Educational toys and stationery. The winners of the competition were Wild Hide. A huge thank you to Estcourt Round Table 74 and Tugela 202 for their amazing donations, and a big thank you to Estcourt Mica for their donation of charcoal.

PORT ALFRED LADIES CIRCLE 29 MAKING HEARTS HAPPY Making hearts happy is what it's all about. On the 23rd of December we, together with Round Table 177 Port Alfred, went over to Jehova Jireh Haven, a local orphanage, to take all the donations received from our caring community, and one amazing anonymous sponsor. We were also able to give them 100 jars from our Jar of Hope project. We spent some time and made them all a yummy burger for lunch; each and every child also received a sweetie goodie bag. We were brought to tears with the amazing song these children sang to us and their wonderful cake they made especially for us, to say thank you. We are so truly blessed to have been able to do so much for these little ones this December. We thank each and every person who got involved in this project from the bottom of our hearts.

ESTCOURT LADIES CIRCLE IN FORMATION CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR LADYSMITH ORPHANAGE On the 23rd December 2023 Estcourt Ladies Circle (in Formation) went through to the Ladysmith Orphanage to surprise the kids with Christmas gifts. 100 Individually wrapped gifts were handed to the children and 30 care packs. Seeing their smiles and how EXCIT ED they were just makes us LOVE what we are doing. The ladies were taken on a tour of the grounds, and we were privileged enough to join the opening of their new greenhouse, where the children are taught how to grow their own food. A huge thank you to Gift of the Givers for donating 60 individually packed gifts for the children which held shampoos, sanitary pads, and body wash.

Christmas Bingo East London 1 runs a monthly event at a local old age home namely, Stirling Lodge, whereby we purchase biscuits and chocolates and play a couple rounds of bingo with the residents. This event is a highlight amongst the residents and gives them a much-needed break of routine and interaction with “strangers” This project has been running for many years and will run for many years to come. At Christmas time, we host a very special Christmas version of monthly bingo. All the tablers, pipeliners, wives and children come together to create a special edition. We dress up with some Christmas hats, bring in some delicious snacks, cakes, and pastries. We play bingo as normal but then afterwards we sit and chat to some of the players. You can tell this time with them is so needed and is a definite highlight for them as well as being a highlight for the tablers. This project for us has always been a feel good project.
