AN OVERVIEW OF THE 2023 RTI WORLD MEETING - GRAHAM CORNELISSEN Opening day The anticipation reached a crescendo as the arrival day of the World Meeting dawned, a day marked by the warmth of reconnecting with old friends and forging new bonds under the African sky. After months of meticulous planning, the World Meeting has arrived. Almost 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries flocked to Cape Town for what promised to be an event to remember. For anyone arriving, a warm welcome awaited at the airport, followed by comfortable transportation to the official hotels. Beers were provided and flowing to ensure that no throat ran dry. After a smooth registration process, attendees had the golden opportunity to reunite with old comrades, some of whom they met face-to-face for the first time. The goodie bags were a highlight, with free gin/rum included for full event registrations. The sense of camaraderie was palpable, reaffirming the spirit of friendship that the World Meeting champions. The organizers pulled out all the stops to kick off this extraordinary journey. The opening night was a short distance away, where attendees were treated to an enchanting outdoor festival. A traditional spit braai sizzled under the vast African sky, filling the air with tantalizing aromas. The wind was a bit chilly, but this did not dampen the spirit of everyone attending. The sounds of Appel, Van Coke and Prime Circle resonated through the night, creating an electrifying atmosphere, with the official opening video being a particular highlight. As the music faded into the night, the memories of this electrifying evening lingered, setting the stage for what promises to be an extraordinary World Meeting filled with camaraderie, connection, and shared experiences. And then there was the 27th floor… With a dedicated DJ and Tabler-only space on the 27th floor of Hotel Sky, the party was guaranteed not to stop anytime soon. Hundreds of partygoers flocked to the top floor every night to enjoy the good times, scenic views and fellowship. On more than one night, the party only stopped long after the sun had risen.
