Fellow Tablers, I write from a still, very wet, and cold Port Elizabeth. Yes, we are in October already and we are six months into our table year. As they say, time flies when having fun. I present you with the 6th edition of our very own official magazine of Round Table Southern Africa, Inkundla. This edition is a dedicated World meeting review edition whereby we as an organisation reflect to what has played out in Cape Town. Regrettably, I personally could not attend the World Meeting but I am honoured to have the privilege to edit all the articles that have been submitted. All I can is WOW…..! I must admit , I truly missed out from looking at the photos and feedback. The opportunity for a World Meeting in your own backyard during one’s table career does not come around often and we as RTSA can be very proud and honoured. A massive success it was, and I applaud convenor, our very own Graham Cornelissen and his team! You did our association PROUD! To all tablers that lend a hand, well done. To all the international guests thank you for your attendance and participation and for adding to success! Sit back and enjoy reading!

AN OVERVIEW OF THE 2023 RTI WORLD MEETING - GRAHAM CORNELISSEN Opening day The anticipation reached a crescendo as the arrival day of the World Meeting dawned, a day marked by the warmth of reconnecting with old friends and forging new bonds under the African sky. After months of meticulous planning, the World Meeting has arrived. Almost 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries flocked to Cape Town for what promised to be an event to remember. For anyone arriving, a warm welcome awaited at the airport, followed by comfortable transportation to the official hotels. Beers were provided and flowing to ensure that no throat ran dry. After a smooth registration process, attendees had the golden opportunity to reunite with old comrades, some of whom they met face-to-face for the first time. The goodie bags were a highlight, with free gin/rum included for full event registrations. The sense of camaraderie was palpable, reaffirming the spirit of friendship that the World Meeting champions. The organizers pulled out all the stops to kick off this extraordinary journey. The opening night was a short distance away, where attendees were treated to an enchanting outdoor festival. A traditional spit braai sizzled under the vast African sky, filling the air with tantalizing aromas. The wind was a bit chilly, but this did not dampen the spirit of everyone attending. The sounds of Appel, Van Coke and Prime Circle resonated through the night, creating an electrifying atmosphere, with the official opening video being a particular highlight. As the music faded into the night, the memories of this electrifying evening lingered, setting the stage for what promises to be an extraordinary World Meeting filled with camaraderie, connection, and shared experiences. And then there was the 27th floor… With a dedicated DJ and Tabler-only space on the 27th floor of Hotel Sky, the party was guaranteed not to stop anytime soon. Hundreds of partygoers flocked to the top floor every night to enjoy the good times, scenic views and fellowship. On more than one night, the party only stopped long after the sun had risen.

AN OVERVIEW OF THE 2023 RTI WORLD MEETING - GRAHAM CORNELISSEN
Thursday For those looking to make the most of their time during the councillor's meeting, eight unique day tours were on offer, providing an opportunity to explore the beauty and culture of the region. From scenic excursions to cultural encounters, there was something for everyone to indulge in. A particular highlight came after lunch when all councillor's meeting participants embarked on a memorable adventure, ascending the iconic Table Mountain. Against the breathtaking backdrop of the mountain's majestic summit, attendees enjoyed a picturesque hike and refreshing drinks, making memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. As the sun dipped below the horizon, it was time for Nations Night, an event steeped in tradition and culture. Hosted in the oldest building in South Africa, the evening was a vibrant celebration of diversity. Local RTSA Tablers warmly welcomed everyone with six traditional potjies, offering a taste of authentic South African cuisine. The night unfolded as an exchange of culture, snacks, and drinks, providing a rich tapestry of experiences that beautifully reflected the global unity of the event. This event was a testament to the power of unity and cultural exchange, bringing people together from all corners of the world. It was a night filled with laughter, shared stories, and a deep sense of connection, making it a truly memorable occasion.
Friday The AGM, the centrepiece of this gathering, unfolded in all its glory, showcasing the flair and importance it holds within our global community. Attendees were treated to a day of meaningful discussions and decision-making, cementing the foundation of the organization's future. Elections were well contested by all. For those not attending, a world of exploration awaited. Planned day tours offered opportunities to immerse in the local culture, or individuals could venture out independently to discover the countless bars and restaurants that beckoned. Late afternoon heralded a unique adventure as attendees went to the clubhouse parties. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary – a traditional braai, a taste of the famous brandy and coke, and the thrill of watching rugby together. Some parties got crazy, with local and international guests enjoying themselves.

In addition to the captivating day tours that captivated attendees, dedicated shuttles whisked participants away to explore the vibrant neighbourhood markets and the iconic V&A Waterfront. These charming destinations beckoned visitors to savour a few hours of discovery, shopping, and local flavours—a delightful addition to the World Meeting experience. From the RTSA Pr esident Fellow Tablers, It is already 5 weeks since conclusion of the RTI World Meeting Cape Town 2023 and the overwhelming pride of hosting the entire world, is still tangible. Once again, thank you to the World Meeting convening team and their wives, all tablers and wives that assisted and attended the World Meeting. The success of the event would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our RTSA tablers. Also, congratulations to the Stnofs, Free State & Northern Cape potjie kos team that was crowned world champions. I hope you all enjoy the edition this month dedicated to the event and that the memories will last a lifetime. The
convening team is hard at work to finalise the wrap up and finalise the financials – we will report on the profits in due course. October month is associated with creating awareness for breast cancer and I urge you all to take part and to make a difference in the lives of the ladies and their families that are affected by breast cancer. that anyone may be struggling with. We must always remember that there is always somebody to listen and to help. That also means that we all have an obligation to check-in with our fellow tablers and to reach out in times of need. I look forward to my travels to the South Cape Area and Western Province Area Summer Conference and know that RT Paarl 44 will host a 3rd ASSCO that will be remembered for years to come. Jp world meeting visit Wow! …is all I can say! What an amazing experience it was to attend such an amazing event with like-minded individuals from all over the world. After a hiccup or two with the accommodation, it was all smooth sailing. Extremely well-organized events and more than enough entrainment was arranged for all who attended.
Nations Night was exceptionally special to be a part of in the Castle of Good Hope, to learn so much about so many different countries. With some fine dining at the Malmesbury club house, watching the 2023 Rugby World Cup opening on big screen, I made some lifelong friends. I would like to say it was a fellowship gathering not to be missed. Big thank

Remarkable Journey at the World Meeting As the proud recipient of Round Table Southern Africa's Tabler of the Year award, I had the privilege of attending the prestigious World Meeting hosted by South Africa in the stunning city of Cape Town. While I could have chosen to simply enjoy the event as a spectator, I found the opportunity to actively participate in the registration area rather exciting and prefer working with my fellow Tablers rather than just watching. It was a unique chance to collaborate with fellow Tablers and welcome hundreds of Round Table members from across the globe. The atmosphere was electric as we gathered not only for the Annual General Meeting but also for our regional meetings. These meetings allowed us to forge connections and share experiences with Tablers from beyond South Africa's borders. The sense of unity and camaraderie among Tablers transcended national boundaries, reminding us that we are part of a global movement dedicated to service and community betterment.
One of the highlights of the World Meeting was undoubtedly the Gala dinner. The sight of Tablers from around the world, adorned in their regalia and complemented by smart suits, was a truly remarkable spectacle. It was a visual testament to the international reach and impact of Round Table, showcasing our commitment to fostering friendships and making a positive difference in our communities. Nations Night at the Castle of Good Hope was an unforgettable experience. This historic monument provided a captivating backdrop for our festivities. I had the privilege of manning a food station where various Areas within South Africa prepared "potjies" to feed the masses of Tablers in attendance. Sharing these traditional South African dishes with Tablers from across the globe was a memorable experience that celebrated our diverse cultures and culinary traditions. It was indeed something special to be in such a historic setting while enjoying the fellowship of other Tablers.

For me personally, the nomination for Round Table International's Tabler of the Year award was an immensely special and humbling experience. It served as a reminder of the dedication and hard work put in by Tablers not only in South Africa but also across the globe. This recognition inspires me to continue my journey of service and engagement with even greater enthusiasm. In conclusion, my journey at the World Meeting in Cape Town was an unforgettable experience. It reinforced the values of Round Table – friendship, fellowship, and service – and highlighted the incredible impact we can achieve when we work together as a global community. As Tablers, we are united by a shared mission, and the World Meeting exemplified the boundless opportunities and rewards that come from being part of this extraordinary organization. T he Gr eat Buffalo Tour What do you get when you put a group of Belgians, Bulgarians, Danes, Brits, Germans, throw in a Icelander, a couple of Italians, a nut from the Netherlands, a Norwegian and 2 Swiss gentleman together? Well, when you throw them on a bus for 6 days on an epic journey through the Southern Cape, I can tell you it’s no joke, its an adventure of a lifetime! You see, this is the amazing privilege that Tablers enjoy, adventures and journeys that would be highly unlikely in any normal person’s life. We truly have great friends right across the globe that we get to meet for the first time. And that is exactly what happened on this pre-tour for the RTI World Meeting 2023 in Cape Town. On the 1st of September, a group of almost 45 people, or was it 47, might have been 43 no that I think of it… Well, let’s just say a large group of mostly strangers from 11 countries hopped on a bus (filled with enough cold one’s to stock a medium sized pub) from Hotel Sky in Cape Town, way later than scheduled and set off to Arniston. Thanks to the aforementioned liquid courage, by the time we reached our first stop, most of the borders were abolished and strangers started to become familiar travel companions. In the following days the names started to stick, the familiars started to become friendlies and through the evening parties, daily excursions from game drives, bush walks, chopper flights and some of the best food you’ll ever get to eat, the friendlies became lifelong friends. There might even be some love in the air for 2 of them, and I’m not referring to Niel and myself who shared hotel rooms for 7 evenings and likely got to know each other almost as good as our respective life partners. I can tell you this, if you ever get even the slightest opportunity to travel internationally, or locally with internationals in this case, grab it. Grab it with both hands. It was an experience of a lifetime and memories that will last me ‘till the day when I can annoy my grandkids with it on repeat. We laughed, we screamed, we drank, we danced, we sang, we ate, we learned, we had deep conversations and we formed strong bonds. And the only time we were close to tears was the day we said good bye (for now). I salute you Great Buffalo Tour travelers, I had the time of my life. Eat. Sleep. Table. Repeat. By AB Tromp

RTI WORLD MEETING 2023 – TALES FROM THE BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE I had the honour and privilege of accompanying my South Cape Area Chairman, AB Tromp, on both the Great Buffalo Pre Tour; and later, hosting our respective Day Tours at the official RTI World Meeting week. Think of me on the Great Buffalo Pre Tour, as the drummer to a world class lead guitarist. Hence, “The Best Seat in The House”. I saw a meticulous man, master of his organizational craft, take a group of 45 strangers and turn them into a family. We showcased to the world, the best our South Cape has to offer. We showed them how quickly the serenity and friendliness of Southern Africa, creeps into your bones and transfers into your heart. In the adjacent, or shall I say leading report, written by our Area Chairman about his experiences, you will find the intricate details of our time spent on tour and at the World Meeting. Think of this more as a tip of the hat to the organisers, My Captain, and Co Host, and then lastly; our guests, who became friends, who now exist as family (and co sports commentators – the Franch sure do love their Rugby) and the many tales and travels that is sure to take place as a result thereof. What an experience, which made me all the richer for it. Yours in Table Always Niel Enslin RT South Cape IRO / PRO (2023/2024)

MEETING OLD FRIENDS FOR THE FIRST TIME During the recent World Meeting held in Cape Town, I had the great fortune to participate in a day of pre-tours, specifically the "Highlights of Cape Town" tour. Despite the gloomy Cape Town winter weather, characterized by rain, cold temperatures, and strong winds, our spirits remained undeterred. Our day was filled with exciting experiences, new friendships, and unexpected connections. Our adventure began with a visit to Khayelitsha, where we explored the vibrant local culture and community. Following this enriching experience, we enjoyed a delightful lunch in Khayelitsha, savoring the local cuisine and bonding with fellow tour participants. The highlight of the day was an exclusive guided tour of the Two Oceans Aquarium, where we marveled at the breathtaking underwater world. Afterward, we returned to hotel Sky, Specifically Floor 27, for a quick refresh before heading out into town for a scrumptious dinner. During the course of the tour, I engaged in various conversations with international participants, leading me to a fellow member of Tablers International with the same table number as mine, 165, hailing from Winsen, Germany. Meeting someone with the same table number was an unexpected delight, and we immediately exchanged pins as a symbol of our newfound connection. We enthusiastically discussed our mutual acquaintance, Oliver, also from Table 165 in Winsen, who had recently embarked on a world tour and had the pleasure of visiting Durbanville 165. Naturally, we couldn't resist sending Oliver a selfie to share the exciting news of our meeting. As the World Meeting unfolded, I took on the role of a bus chaperone, responsible for ensuring that all guests boarded the bus promptly and reached various event venues on time. While enthusiastically shouting, "GET ON THE BUS," I encountered a group of gentlemen who quickly pulled me into their circle. At first, I wondered if they were after my cold one, but to my surprise, they turned out to be fellow brothers from Table 165, also from Winsen. Our initial encounter led to strong bonds forming, and I was delighted to see them again at the 165 clubhouse party. They had made a special effort to attend the World Meeting and connect with Durbanville 165 tablers. It was a memorable evening as they had the opportunity to meet the rest of our 165 group and even participate in the induction of our newest member. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Winsen 165 members who attended the World Meeting and made the effort to visit and connect with the Durbanville 165 tablers. Your presence and camaraderie added a special dimension to our experience, reminding us that sometimes, the most meaningful connections are made when meeting old friends for the first time. RTIWM 2023 Aquila pre-tour What an amazing honour it has been to had the privilege of hosting one of the official RTIWM 2023 pre-tours. The pretour was scheduled to run from the 3rd of September till the 6th of September with 50 International guests attending. They ranged from Tablers to Circlers to 41ers and it was an amazing group. Some of us that decided to hit Cape Town a bit earlier met up for some random trips before the tour started just so that we can get to know each other. On the official kick-off we all headed to V&A for a quick lunch, pirate boat ride and then supper.
One of the highlights must have been the Jolly Roger(Pirate ship), and that is also where we found out who has found their sea legs and who hasn’t.
we had a quick stop at Nuy winery just outside of Worcester for some wine tasting and then it was back to the hotel, just in time for opening.
On Monday we headed off to Aquila game reserve to see how many of the big 5 we can spot on the game drives. For the more adventurous in the group there were also horseback safaris as well quad biking safaris and everyone had a blast.
This was a truly memorable experience and I want to thank everyone that made it possible.
We saw lions, elephants, giraffes and even monkeys that decided they wanted to join us and took possession of our platters. On the way back on the 6th

RTIWM 2023 Day tours Having attended the RTIWM 2022 in Copenhagen and hearing about the work involved in organising an event such as this makes someone think twice before putting a hand up to assist. But like all things in Table when the opportunity is there, you grab it with both hands and jump in. For the RTIWM 2023 I had the opportunity to assist an amazing team by being the convenor of the Day Tours. It is not a small task to do the organising, logistics, communication, sales etc, but luckily that is where the rest of the team comes in and we all functioned as a well oiled machine. Initially the day tours were scheduled
to run from the 7th till the 9th of September, but due to higher demand, additional tours were scheduled for the 5th and 6th of September as well. The tours ranged from free walking tours, hiking Table Mountain with our one and only Ginger Ninja(doubt if he will do it again), fishing, wine tastings and even snorkeling.

Unfortunately not everything always goes according to plan, especially if some events are weather dependant and we were in Cape Town after all. Last minute plans had to be made when the seal snorkelling vendors contacted us and said that the conditions were to bad to go out. By a strike of luck we were able to offer an alternative, an

Meeting old friends for the first time and seeing old friends again is one of the highlights of attending a World Meeting. Last year I was fortunate enough to have attended the WM in Copenhagen, Denmark. The friendships that were built there will last a lifetime and everytime we see each other again, it feels like maybe a week has passed and the catch ups last for hours. What I learned from Copenhagen was to ensure that you are there before the WM starts and build in a couple of days afterwards just so that you can recover, or you won’t be the most fully functional person at work. I arrived in Cape Town on the 27th of August, and from there I started meeting up with members of the Round Table Family daily, at random times and at random places. Don’t think that you could take a walk in Cape Town during that time and not walk into a Tabler or Circler. On the 29th the work began and we started welcoming guests at the hotel, receiving regalia and packing goodie bags till early morning hours. It was all hands on deck and everyone assisted where and when needed. By the 30th many guests have arrived
and they waited for the pre-tours to kick off. The trial run at Rondels on the 27th floor of Sky went swimmingly and we all knew that it was going to be the place to be going forward. As the guests left on the various pretours, the hotel started quieting down, or so we thought, but more guests just started joining and it was truly buzzing. On the 3rd I headed off on the Aquila pre-tour and we returned on the 6th just in time for opening night. Opening night was an amazing experience, everyone just all of a sudden came together and we rocked out to Appel, Francois van Coke and Prime Circle. The opening video was a true masterpiece and everyone who saw it, felt the same. On the Thursday night, it was time for Nations evening. That will always remain one of the highlights of any World Meeting that I have attended. All the food, refreshments, outfits and atmosphere is something that you cannot explain, you have to experience it.
And there we were, on the bus, heading of to Malmesbury. The atmosphere on the bus was electrifying and once we got to Malmesbury it just seemed to reach another level. Thank you gents for making the clubhouse evening a memorable one. Go France… Saturday was the gala evening where all the formalities took place. The food was some of the best that I have had at any Round Table function. After the gala we went for another night at club Rondels before some of us had to start packing for the way home on the Sunday, where others decided to stay a couple of days/ weeks extra. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a WM, I would emplore you to do so, as the people you meet, the memories that are made, will last you a lifetime. That might even include waking up next to a monkey. YIT Claud Cornelissen Jukskei 217 Secretary RTIWM’23 Day Tour Convenor RTIWM’23 Aquila Pre-tour Convenor

Oh! what a time to be alive as a proud NSCA tabler NSCA (north south coast area) had the amazing opportunity of hosting 40 international tabler, with their wives and kids RIGHT HERE in our beautiful province of KZN, and man was it an amazing journey of 6 days with these amazing peeps.
to Cape Vidal to have a relaxing time on the beach while there was a opportunity to snorkel among the rocks and see some of our sea life, not to mention the amazing view when entering Cape Vidal with the greenery and wild life on the way in to the beach. We where spoilt
We started off by collecting them from our very own King Shaka air port
After catching some sun we where off again to Bonamanzi game reserve and upon arrival we checked in and boom off to a sun set 3 hour safari and some say it’s tough living in Africa, we’ll the internationals really got to experience that saying. Watching the sun set touch the horizon, while the game walking around enjoying some sun downers.
Then went straight to La Lucia to the well managed Elephant Lake hotel and immediately the internationals where off to relaxing elephant and croc cruise well the sun set on our beautiful scenery. On return we had a amazing dinner at the Barraca restaurant, where let’s be honest with the amount of us basically booked the whole restaurant out. The following morning there was no rest for what we had planned ahead, we where up at 5:30am for a packed breakfast and off we went on the bus
Upon return we where met with a lovely dinner at Bonamanzi with some well earned chill and catching time from a busy day. Next morning at 5:00am where we at it again, bright and early. Off to another game drive for 6 hours in Hluhluwe

Umfolozi game park (which I may add is the 2nd old park in the world) this was a amazing venture, we saw everything from Buffalo, giraffe, Black rhino, many antelope, wildebeest and yes a WHITE RHINO which is the rarest animal to see, even more than a leopard, the rangers them self said this is the first sighting this year, now how is that for a treat. Upon half way we where met by the anti rhino poaching team that did a amazing demo for us on how they track poaches with their amazingly friendly and well trained dogs (just don’t get on their bad side) as well as a demo on what happens when they catch the poaches with the dogs and nooo it’s not all about biting, apparently there is very little to no biting involved. It’s more about tact’s of scaring and over coming the poaches From there we went to the rhino sanctuary and met with some orphaned rhinos who’s mom was unfortunately poached, very tear renching stuff.
Oh! what a time to be alive as a proud NSCA tabler
On a lighter note we then all carried forth a picnic spot and enjoyed a great lunch which even better banter. Following this eventful day we went off to the wild cat interaction at Emdoneni Cheeta project and did you know that the black lines under a cheetahs eyes are there to reflect the suns rays, so the cheetahs can force better, now that’s some fancy sporty Oaklys right there Now here comes the fun, even though every one had a long day of eventful experiences, there was one more thing left on the list. A bona fire at the Boma, can you spell PARTY!!! With the music playing and the internationals sharing their experiences of the day, it was definitely the correct way to end off the day. The next morning we had our breakfast and we were off to SANI passed hotel Upon arrival, we unpacked and took the
international tablers to visit the Nelson Mandela capture site. Later on that evening, we were spoiled with a dinner at SANI Pass Hotel and man was it excellent Following morning we where up, had a fantastic breakfast and was off to SANI pass to go into Lesotho, basically traveled between 2 country’s in a couple hours and visited the highest pub in Africa. What a view and a great experience Later that evening we where off to SANI 152s club house for a braai and fellowship and man was there fellowship had, geees was roaring that evening, banners where handed over, pins where traded and of course the coins where given and dropped (we all know what that means) The following morning as how disappointing this may be, we had breakfast and where off to the air

RTI World Meeting 2023 Experience Wednesday 6 September our world meeting started at 04.30 in the morning, departing for the airport to welcome guests from all over the world to our lovely city and country. We received way more guests than expected. It was difficult to keep count, but the best part of the day was to meet new Tablers who were all friendly and excited to be with us even after traveling anywhere from 12 to 20 hours to join us for the RTI World Meeting Southern African 2023. We got a smile from each and every guest in true Table tradition, I can’t say if the smile was for us or the fact that they got an ice-cold beer as soon as they got off the airplane. We then proceeded like true Tablers, straight from the airport directly to opening night at Green Point cricket stadium. Where we had an awesome spit braai diner before being entertained by Appel, Van Coke and Prime Circle. I have never attended an event where there was so much love and fellowship for one another, this was one of many highlights of the world event for me.
Friday Morning, behind the scenes, we were prepping our Clubhouse RT246 Tableview to welcome a bus load of guests. Unfortunately, only having so many hours in a day we had to skip the AMG meeting, but luckily it was live streamed for all those who could not attend. Friday night we hosted the Clubhouse Party, and oh boy was it worth all the hard work, because what an amazing night it was! Truly a night I will never forget. My induction into the Round Table and the Buffalo Club, in front of my dear friend Arthur Boender RT86 from the Netherlands that introduced me to Tabling, and all 70 of our international guests. Who all congratulated me on becoming an official Tabler. Werner van der Walt RT246, one of my fellow Tablers and a dear friend, was also formally inducted as Vice Chair. This was indeed a good night. We had “Massive Steaks“, as commented by our guests but quite standard for our local boys (I guess we Africans are just

built differently). We closed off the night on the dance floor and enjoyed every bit of it. Saturday night, The Grand Finale, the main reason the ladies also enjoy Tabling. We all get to dress up and are treated like royalty at the Gala dinner. Plenty of drinks and a 6-course meal worthy of five stars. We saw what tabling is all about, the awards that were achieved, fund raising for people in need, this is all something I look forward to in my Tabling future. The event was held in the Ballroom in the CTICC building, just opposite the road from the Sky hotel. Ending with an after party on the 27th floor of the Sky Hotel, which is a story for another day when we meet again, make new friends, share our stories and Table experiences, because as we all know, what happens at the Sky Hotel stays at the Sky Hotel. Beach, Bush & Berg RTIWM 2023 Pre-Tour
In August 2022 I put my name forward to convene a pre-tour for RTIWM23, little did I know what lay ahead…. The goal was to show our visiting internationals the great experiences we South Africans can have right on our doorstep and the tour was based around the things I love to do at the places I love going to – my ideal holiday. A mix of the beach, bush & berg is KZN in a nutshell and we are privileged to have an abundance of all three. Having holidayed at all of the places on the itinerary it was then about jamming it all in to one action packed tour. An awesome video showing off the tour was produced and it was then a wait for registrations to open in January 2023, and when it did we were blown away! A few hours after registration opened Graham and Gerhard contacted me about a “small problem” – the tour limit of 36 people was maxed out and the requests to join kept coming. It was decided to split the tour into 2 groups of 40 and one group to do the tour in reverse, with a party night for the whole team on the 3rd night. Guy & Cara Hankinson took the lead for the second group and the following
months were spent fine tuning and making sure that we could pull off an epic adventure for our visiting internationals. The weeks leading up to the event were frantic; with weekly team meetings, last minute cancellations, requests to change groups, booking errors at hotels etc etc. and finally D – Day arrived. On Thursday, 31st August, Tian Keet and I made the journey from Sani 152 down to Durban to stay with Guy & Cara Hankinson and meet some of the early arrivals. Dinner and a “few” beers at the Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga was a great way to meet some of our guests. At 9am the following morning 2 x 55 seater tour busses arrived at the Hankinson residence and we loaded the 1.3tonnes of necessary refreshments to get us through the following 5 days. At 12h20 the bulk of the guests landed at King Shaka International and finally the long awaited adventure kicked off. A quick introduction and everyone piled into their respective busses; Jacques Lemmer, Tian and myself took our group North, to St Lucia, spirits were high and immediately the refreshments on board were under attack. Upon arrival we headed to the iSimangiliso Wetland Park for a boat cruise on the largest estuary system in Africa, also a UNESCO world

heritage site. African Fish Eagles, the call of the nearby hippos, cold beer and a beautiful sunset – we couldn’t have asked for a better setting to welcome our visitors. Dinner at Baracca restaurant, a St Lucia favourite, and the festivities continued as we all enjoyed each other’s company. There was one expensive round from the bar as coin hit the floor and everyone responded accordingly, the tour was underway!! An early-ish morning and we were off to Cape Vidal to snorkel in the Indian Ocean at a famous reef; an enjoyable morning and a dip in the water provided the necessary relief from the previous evening. From there it was onto Bonamanzi Game Reserve for 2 nights and the chance to experience the “African bush”. A few hours to have some lunch get settled in, and it was time for the sundowner safari drive. Cooler boxes packed and we spent the late afternoon soaking up the sights and sounds of Zululand. We all met for a few drinks as the sun went down over a beautiful Fever Tree forest. On the way home one of the vehicles had a close encounter when a young bull elephant charged the vehicle – seats needed cleaning I believe.
Beach, Bush & Berg RTIWM 2023 Pre-Tour
The following morning was early to rise for breakfast and a full day safari drive in Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve, the oldest proclaimed game reserve in Africa and the park responsible for saving the Southern White Rhino. We also got to meet the team on the frontline, responsible for protecting the animals we had the privilege of seeing that day. The rangers and the K9 unit did a demonstration that really touched the hearts of everyone as they realised what needed to be done to ensure the survival of these animals; hopefully our grandkids might get the opportunity so see them in their natural habitat, thanks to those unsung heroes. That afternoon a visit to a nearby cat sanctuary allowed everyone to learn a bit about the wild cats they had and see some of them undergoing rehabilitation before their release back into the wild. The second group arrived that evening and we were treated to a spectacular boma braai and some live music, a lot fellowship and camaraderie around the fire as everyone exchanged stories about
the tour so far. The final leg of the tour was the trip up Sani Pass into Lesotho; on the way to Underberg we stopped halfway at the Nelson Mandela capture site and then lunch with the Hilton 242 boys, the sticky fingered travellers made off with some of the 242 banners with the request that they collect them at the Sani 152 clubhouse braai the following evening. After the final stretch we arrived at Premier Resort Sani Pass and everyone settled in before dinner and then an early night for most. The final day of the tour was a trip into Lesotho with the renowned Sani Pass Tours company. A mandatory drink at the highest pub in Africa and a visit to a traditional Lesotho village was a great experience for everyone. Strong winds blew everyone back down the mountain and an afternoon in the pool with a couple g&t’s was just what the doctor ordered. That evening Sani 152 was honoured to host a braai for everyone; new friends made, regalia swopped and of course some items raided that I had to collect in

Cape Town at the WM. The bus trip back to the airport in the morning was very peaceful as everyone caught up on some much needed sleep; we joined the other group and an entourage of 70 + people boarded FA161 to Cape Town. (Un)fortunately Fly Safair wasn’t in possession of a liquor licence so the flight down was relatively quiet. It was an unbelievable experience, something I will cherish forever and I know the friends made are for life and I will certainly be meeting up with them in the future. Massive thanks to our team that ran the tour, it was a pleasure enjoying it with you all, to the rest of the RTIWM convening team – that was fun but it’ll be a while before I do that again. Lastly, to the guests on the tour, thank you, such an amazing mix of people that were super easy going and I feel privileged to have spent that time with you all. Yit, Kev Fraser

Hilton 242 was fortunate enough to be involved with hosting international guests that attended the Berg, Bush and Beach pre tour for the RTI World Meeting. We hosted 80+ guests over 2 days in our area for lunch and drinks in Lions River, KZN where they also visited the Nelson Mandela Capture site. We treated them to a variety of Traditional KZN dishes and some beers with world class Hilton 242 Fellowship. We had banner and pin exchanges and many good laughs with old friends for the first time. The following evening Hilton Raided the social event hosted by Sani 152 at their clubhouse. Hilton thoroughly enjoyed hosting our guests and being a part of their World Meeting Pre Tours. Area GUest visit to Drak Drak Area hosted their international area guest, Roman from Linz 24 Austria, from 28 Aug to 1 Sep for a tour around our beautiful and diverse area. He was fortunate enough to have his own mini pre tour before the RTI world meeting hosted in Cape Town. He was collected by a few Hilton 242 Tablers in Durban and given a night out in Mdloti to kick things off. The following day he went up Sani Pass to have a beer at the highest pub in Africa and then was hosted at the Hilton 242 clubhouse for an evening strong fellowship in typical 242 style. Roman then was taken to Dundee 94 for a chance to test his shooting skills followed by a game drive with Dundee 94. That night he had a social evening with Estcourt 74. A helicopter ride up the scenic central Drakensberg im the early morning with passed AMI Chairman Brett Tungay organised by the Tugela 202 boys proved to be a highlight of his trip. He then finished off his tour with a quiet evening back with Hilton at a local pub with their families. We were thrilled to host Roman in our area and gave him the best Drak Area experience possible. World Meeting Hunting Pre Tour
So, now that the storm of fun and excitement has passed, I have the opportunity to reflect back to what an amazing pre tour it was, hosting almost 30 international Tablers on an unforgettable hunting trip. Firstly, I want to thank Gerhard Van der Berg (Florida 21 Member & WM2023 CoConvenor) for all the planning assistance and guidance he has given me in preparing for this Pre Tour. We kicked off the Hunting Pre Tour with a lovely “Spit-Braai” at Florida 21 clubhouse where we were fortunate enough to experience real international fellowship and see what the power of Table is all about. After an amazing night we headed to our hotel where we rested before we departed to the Farm the next day.
The farm was situated in a small town Theunissen in the Freestate province. Prior to arriving at the farm, we made sure our guests had the opportunity to gear up at a local hunting shop in Welkom. Our first day at the farm was nothing short of exciting, the amount of fellowship that was created in the field, around a nice warm campfire and around the dinner/breakfast table was just something I have never experienced. During our stay on the farm, our very own ARTSA President Mr. Louis Radley and ARTSA IRO, Mr. Louis Du Toit came to visit and meet the internationals, which added a very special touch to most of our international guests. Of course, then the HUNT. I can report that every single guest had the opportunity to create their very own bucket list and every one of them managed to hunt

at least one of those animals on their bucket list. So, to all of those that asked, YES, we will do this from now on as a yearly event. In Closing I would also just like to thank Louwrens Lombard for assisting me as Co-Host, all my Florida 21 Members for assisting in the Pre-Party, Roger Berger Safari’s and then to every single guest that attended our Pre Tour, without any of you it would have not been possible. Looking forward to seeing most of you there next year. YIT Phillip Van Wyk Florida 21 Chairman Hunting Pre Tour Host

Memorable RTI WM Experience - CARLETONVILLE 50
In the picturesque backdrop of Cape Town, South Africa, the Round Table International World Meeting unfolded from September 6th to September 9th, 2023. This global gathering of Round Table members showcased impeccable organization and hospitality that left attendees, including the four members attending their first World Meeting from Carletonville50, thoroughly impressed. It was not just an event; it was the experience of a lifetime. The journey began on September 6th when participants from around the world arrived in Cape Town. From the very outset, the event's organization and coordination were nothing short of exceptional. The hospitality extended from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure. This seamless service set the tone for what would be a remarkable event. For us four members from Carletonville50, this was not just an ordinary gathering. We were part of the ground team for three days, an opportunity that we will cherish. It was a privilege to be involved in the behindthe-scenes efforts that made this event a resounding success. The dedication and hard work of all the teams were evident in the smooth execution of
various activities throughout the conference. One of the most remarkable aspects of the World Meeting is the sense of camaraderie and friendship it fosters. This event transcends borders, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and countries. As one attendee remarked, "You meet friends for life from so many different countries." Indeed, the bonds formed at such gatherings are enduring and transcend geographical boundaries. The event was not just about meetings and discussions; it was a celebration of international unity and collaboration. Attendees had the opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences, and gain insights from their counterparts from across the globe. These interactions enriched the knowledge and perspectives of everyone present, creating a dynamic atmosphere of learning and growth. In addition to the insightful sessions and discussions, the World Meeting featured a vibrant cultural exchange. Participants had the chance to experience the rich heritage of South Africa through cultural performances, local cuisine, and tours of Cape Town's iconic landmarks. These experiences added an extra layer of richness to the event, making it truly

unforgettable. As the meeting drew to a close, there was a palpable sense of anticipation for the next gathering. In 2024, the World Meeting is scheduled to take place in the Netherlands. The prospect of meeting even more international guests and deepening the connections made in Cape Town has left attendees eagerly looking forward to the next chapter in this remarkable journey. In conclusion, the World Meeting hosted in Cape Town was a testament to the power of international cooperation and friendship. It showcased exceptional organization, offered a platform for meaningful discussions, and created lasting bonds among attendees. For us four from Carletonville 50 who were part of this, it was a privilege, and for everyone who attended, it was an experience they will carry with them for a lifetime. World Meeting - A Journey of Discovery and Connection The crisp morning air of September 3rd marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. Jan-Albert De Kock's convincing invitation to join him on an adventure to the RTI World Meeting set the stage for a week filled with unforgettable experiences. Our expedition commenced from Klerksdorp on a Monday morning. A pitstop at Bona Bona for breakfast and an exhilarating game drive introduced us to the captivating world of Africa's predators in their natural habitat. The diversity of wildlife left an indelible mark on our hearts. As we continued on our route to Sutherland, we made several captivating stops, culminating in a latenight arrival, finding my truck blanketed in snow. The real excitement, however, was reserved for the RTI World Meeting conference, which began on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023. The opening event was nothing short of spectacular,
offering me a chance to connect with fellow attendees from across the globe. We swapped stories, exchanged pins and coins, and reveled in the company of likeminded individuals. The performances by Francois van Coke and Christoph Kotze (Appel) added a delightful musical touch to the evening. Thursday afternoon unfolded into a global culinary adventure. Food tables representing regions from around the world showcased their delectable dishes and drinks. Attendees received passports to stamp at each table, making the experience not only delicious but also interactive. Though the shots served were a tad overwhelming, they added to the overall camaraderie. After a day of recuperation on Friday, we ventured out to explore local clubhouses. Although our initial plan was to visit multiple, we eventually settled at Durbanville and reveled in the atmosphere until closing time.

The following morning, we embarked on an adventure of a different kind – a hike up Table Mountain via the "Platteklip" route. While I had grand intentions of conquering this natural wonder, I soon realized the trail's unforgiving steepness. After a valiant but ultimately futile effort, I opted for the cable car, where I patiently awaited my fellow adventurers at the summit. This entire journey was a tapestry of wonderful experiences that I wouldn't trade for anything. From the breathtaking landscapes to the people I met and the cultural exchanges, the memories created during my first RTI World Meeting will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was a journey of discovery, connection, and adventure that left an indelible mark on my life. YIT M-Cee The Fister Smith
THE HARD WAY DOWN TO WORLD MEETING 2023 The hard way tours had its inaugural tour in 2016 to the Margate ARTSA, since then we have kept on enjoying the road less traveled to our yearly table events, it is filled with scenic views, memorable moments and stories full of laughter. Myself and Wouter Dreyer decided to keep this spirit of wanderlust and take the road less traveled to the RTI WORLD MEETING in CAPE TOWN, this the unofficial hard way, as we called it, was planned to bring two fellow tablers closer and create a everlasting bond. We started to lay out our traveling plans and what we hoped to experience. With our starting point and arrival point securely marked on the map, the in between needed to be laid out. The Karoo with its vast open plains, clean air and endless gravel roads, opened up endless possibilities for us to explore. Filled with potential and knowing our capacity it was decided , “we wing it” , “take it as it comes” , or most famous from fast and furious “we going to plan B” , there where never a plan B,C or D, just going with the flow. And this become very true on the Wednesday before our Sunday departure as we were contacted by
some international tablers going to the WORLD MEETING but did not have the means to get there, the two legged karoo slaying dragon became a patzi of 5 wandering travellers filled with lust for the unknown. Then the Friday before the initial Sunday departure date we were contacted by yet another wandering tabler in need of some scenic travels, we were up to 6.
roads. We had a few close calls and one encounter with the wild animals also roaming the gravel roads. This created some excitement for our guest and surely a fun story to tell. Dinner braai at 11pm in Loxton and some refuelling for the tired bodies, we look the road on our final stretch for the 1st day to Sutherland where we arrived at 1:30 am the Tuesday.
With this new development our 7 seater vehicle would not suffice, with solutions being that we hook up a trailer or convince another tabler to join in the tour with a second vehicle. To our delight fellow tabler M-Cee came to our rescue, this bringing our fellowship to 7 , “the fellowship of the rondel”
Day 2, waking up at 7am to a very cold and snowy Sutherland, and ready to do some more exploring of our beautiful country, and at our first chance took the turn that leads to the road less travelled. We came to a rock plain with a stream and a small bridge, here we skipped some rocks and had a few laughs together. Having a late breakfast in Ceres, we were back on blacktop and zooming through the passes to Langebaan.
Our departure day pushed by a day, hitting the road on Monday morning, first stop liquor store for the long hard way ahead. We then stopped at BONA BONA for a breakfast and took our guests on a predator drive, and having a cold beer before hitting the road again. Next stop Kimberly for our guests to get some shopping done. We improvised and decided to stay on the N12 to Britstown before going of the beaten track. With a beautiful sunset behind the lonely Karoo hills, and a brandy and pinenut we were ready for the night shift and gravel

THE HARD WAY DOWN TO WORLD MEETING 2023 Since the Round Table International World Meeting took place in South Africa this year, and it being semi on our back porch, some of the guys from STNOFS came together and decided it would be a great idea to travel to Cape Town by car and make it an unofficial Hard Way Down trip. The plans were not set at all, and I started the trip on Sunday the 3rd of September from Boksburg after a special celebration with RT17 Boksburg and their 70th Birthday party. However, I was not the only person traveling back to the actual starting point in Klerksdorp but rather joined by three Swedes who I now consider Brothers for life. David, Patrick, and Leo had no real idea of what laid ahead for them when we jumped in the car that morning, but they were so tired from our all-night party that they did not really seem to care that much. We were off and ready for our journey ahead. With many stops planned just to get to Klerksdorp the vibe seemed to stay on a high and we enjoyed a sunrise next to the road along with a cold one to stay hydrated. Paris was the next stop and for some reason they expected wine & cheese with a massive circle in the middle of the town… They received another cold one and a 10 second stop at the famous Eiffel tower. We then drove over the bridge and was suddenly in the North-West heading to Potchefstroom to visit the Table and the remaining Gents at the RT47 clubhouse. Breakfast was served and some fellowship and comradery took place in Potchefstroom as members spoke to our international friends and had an overall good time with one another. Some coldones later and a stomach full of food, the car was driving again towards the general direction of Klerksdorp. I was in full tourist guide mode as we drove and gave stories and history of the South African Texas and answered various questions about our culture and the tin houses that was always on the
edge of a town. With it being a short drive between the two towns we stopped at Jan Albert’s house, and we unloaded the luggage. The first situation… As we unloaded and prepared for our trip South, we were informed by Chris from RT117 that we have left a comrade behind. Apparently, our friend Alex from Schychells was also scheduled to travel with us, but we missed communicated that one. Nevertheless, a journey was planned and a journey we shall have. It was agreed that Jan Albert and Chris will meet halfway from Klerksdorp and Northridge to retrieve our lost traveller, while I would take our tree Swedish friends for a “quick” cold one at Stilfontein 53. It was anything but quick, but it was massive fun! The Gents from RT53 did exactly what one would do and opened their harts to these three travellers, and we had an absolute blast. We were soon joined by Alex and Jan Albert and the party was set or was it… We now had a small problem with all the luggage our friends decided to bring with on the trip and realised it would not fit in the Fortuner (Bravo 1) and plans were needed. Jan Albert and I, with a small chant from our new guests and friends convinced MCee that he needs to come with and enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity. It was approximately after 5 minutes and a fresh drink that he gave in and would drive down with us in his Hilux (Bravo 2). We headed for the Mike’s Kitchen in Klerksdorp to finalize the plans and get a proper steak in our bodies with way too many side dishes and made our calculations with one day shorter to travel. At closing time, it was also time to pack and head to the house of Jan Albert for our journey that would hopefully start the next morning early. Monday morning at 06h00 the music was pumping, and we had a coffee as we were ready for our trip. As we work on Table time, it took two hours to pack and load the two vehicles. With us all finally in a car and checking everything

7 times we were of at 08h00 to collect pins and refreshments and snacks for the long journey ahead of us. We drove 50km when we stopped for the first time at Bona Bona for a breakfast overlooking the beautiful nature RSA have to offer, and then we headed on an open vehicle game drive in the predator’s camp to learn more about different cats. The tour guide, Luke, gave us an unforgettable experience of his life managing game and wild cats and enlightened us all with facts and interesting stories. The experience at the game lodge was breathtaking and we left with a smile on our faces and food in our bodies and ready to drive to Kimberly, where we would stop again to stretch legs and fill the cooler boxes with fresh Northen Cape cold ones. This was however a quicker stop and we managed to avoid both loadshedding and peak traffic. We travel down further South and enjoyed the fact that the landscape would slowly but surely change as we drove through the heart of South Africa. Hopetown was soon on the horizon and all we could think was how the town needed more hope… We got fuel at the 3rd station we stopped at and managed to deplete the only butcher in town from all it’s meat and snacks for our planned dinner. When we arrived in Brits town, we were craving a fresh drink and to taste a bit of dust on the vehicles. We turned off on a gravel road with the plan to cruise to Loxton where we would have our dinner for the evening. The road was pleasant and easy to drive, but we did not consider that it would take us an additional 3 hours on our journey. Stops were made frequently with chances to share a laugh, play some games such as “bokdroll spoeg” and fill up our glasses. There was also an unexpected rabbit that crossed our path, and after 36 years the internationals experienced the true meaning of “Daar K@k ‘n Haas”. We took pictures and enjoyed the clear air as we drove further on in the darkness of the Northen Cape.
It was roughly 23h30 when we stopped in Loxton, and again the town seemed deserted. The only streetlight happened to be in front of the church and we opened Bravo 2 and set up the Cadac for a roadside braai. We ate and enjoyed each other’s company with jokes and stories and already so many memories of our trip that took place. With our bodies happy again and the cold getting to us, we travelled again on dusty roads that lead to our overnight or over morning stop before driving to our destination in Cape Town. Sutherland came into our view at the early hours of about 02h00 and we were happy that we can finally call it a day. Upon arrival the guest house manager greeted us and showed us to our rooms with the warm blankets ready and working. The outside temperature was -3 degrees, and the sky was filled with ominous clouds blocking the sky and star life. We were not too bothered as we all wanted to rest and get energized for day two of travelling the hard way. There was an unsynchronized symphony of snoring throughout our unit, and we tried our best to move as often as possible to stay warm. Mcee woke up first and attempted to unload our bags for a quick shower and a clean set of clothes but was quickly brought back into the house with very cold temperatures and snow lying about 3cm over the landscape of Sutherland. We did manage to get some courage eventually and we all got changed and clean for the day’s travel that laid ahead. By roughly 09h00 we were off again and started to look for a gas station with Diesel for the vehicles. Luckily there were only two garages and nr. 2
managed to have full tanks to fill up. With coffee sorted and rusk dished out we headed for Langebaan to witness some of the beautiful wildflowers. After 50km we took a short right on the wrong gravel road we planned the night prior. It should’ve been only 100km but turned out to be 300km + and we were stuck on the path. We stopped frequently for some fun games and pictures along the way and had our first Jägermeister at mid-day. We knew where the ocean would be, but the mountains blocked our path for a straight shot. Roughly at 15h00 we stopped in Ceres and found tar. The SPUR looked appealing, and burgers and refreshments were served all around. Rain greeted us shortly after we departed again, and the vehicles got a wash on the go. As it being the Western Cape the weather lasted for only about an hour before we got sunshine again. We kept on looking for the flowers, but we mostly saw canola flowers in the farms nearby and hoped with all our luck that Langebaan would have something to offer. The landscape changed again and soon we were in Langebaan were the gusty wind greeted us as the sun set on the horizon. Still no flowers. We had a quick fine session at an old house in the Langebaan nature reserve and was all too happy that the end was near. As darkness made its way through the window of the old house we headed South once more to reach our destination only 100km away. Final cold one’s circulated the two cars as we neared Cape Town, and again I tried my best to play tour guide with my screen locked on Wikipedia. The lights of the city were bright, and traffic soon
picked up. The drive was smooth and chilled due to the rules of the province with the average speed cameras in place. We were officially in Cape Town and made our way to Hotel Sky to drop of our guest and get them checked in. Once we stopped there was an abundance of Tablers all over the show and we had one final shot in the parking lot as we unloaded our dusty and damp luggage from Bravo 2. We said our goodbyes and traded pins knowing we would see each other again the following morning, but the bond was strong, and we all graved the next long night and darkness of the road in front of us. To summarize the trip would be very difficult in a couple of words, but I do believe this pretty much sums it up. It was FANTASTIC! We partied plenty on the trip down and at the event, but we know which one we all preferred. The drive down took us through so many wonderful and breathtaking scenery filled with passes, mountains, wildlife and so much more. The guys were amazed, and I am certain that they would join STNOFS again for the hard way down to ARTSA 2024. We did drive back afterward as well, but I do believe some stories should be kept between the travellers only. We put a lot of miles on our odometers but each one was worth it and would be remembered for a long time to come. Thanks again to our international friends and for driving with us. You did truly bless us with your presence, and we are grateful for the HARD WAY DOWN… Daar K@K ‘n Haas Wouter Dreyer

Nation Night Winners at the RTI WM On Thursday the 7th of September the RTI WM Nations’s night took place at the old castle in Cape Town. This event showcased forty-five different countries & nationalities that displayed food and drink that makes them unique and stand out. These numerous food stalls that were represented brought together the feeling of the culture within each country and to say the least all of them understood the assignment and went all out! With South Africa hosting this event, Areas within the country joined forced to compete in the RTI Potjie Competition. Teams were split into
six members and the Central Tri Area consisted of STNOFS, Northen Cape and Free State. The Central Tri Area was led by Chantel Menezes, wife of STNOFS Area Chairman Mike Menezes and their stall had an absolutely wonderful Beef Potjie. They fed more than a hundred people and they made sure to cater for everyone while having an absolutely great vibe present as well. With no surprise at all, the Central Tri Area won the Potjie competition with ease and was also considered the best food stall present at the nation night. Re-Union Island Visit Free State Area Monday 11 September 2023 we were honored to welcome visitors form Round Table Reunion Island in the Free State. They decided to come and visit the Free State as a post tour to the RTIWM. We picked them up at the airport in Bloemfontein and directly took them to see the best view of our city Bloemfontein on top of Navan Hill. We introduced them to some Buffelsfontein brandy & Coke to start off their trip. Our next stop was Bloemfontein 158’s beautiful clubhouse where we were greeted with loadshedding and friendly fellow tablers. We had a quick drink at our clubhouse and then departed to Besters Butchery for some real South African cuisine. They tasted some “biltong & Droëwors” and quickly after bought some to take back home. We headed off to Red Oak (a local pub) for some much-needed snacks and a few much-needed drinks. The evening we hosted them at a beautiful venue close to nature just outside of Bloemfontein called Goose Hill, they were treated with some arrival snacks and some drinks
at sunset. A few fellow tablers from Bloemfontein 158 and 25 came to join us for a “braai” and bonfire with a heavy dose of fellowship. The next morning after a proper “boere” breakfast we headed to a quarry on the farm where we were met by Anton Botha and his arsenal of firearms. Our visitors each had the opportunity to shoot with multiple firearms and for some it was their first time ever shooting. They did extremely well, and it seemed that everyone enjoyed the experience. After lunch myself and P.G Grove departed with our visitors to Ficksburg, we had a few stops along the way at different locations where our visitors could buy some gifts and keep sakes. We also introduced them to some Maluti beer at our last stop just before arriving in Ficksburg. When we got to Ficksburg we were met by some fellow tablers and we headed out of town to Phillipe Fouce’s family farm. We had quite a cold night, so we had to warm up with some Old Brown Sherry and some farm hospitality from our fellow tablers in Ficksburg.

The next morning, we visited a local Lion farm where we could see various wild cat species and even some monkeys. We said our farewells and were off to Welkom. Taking the dirt roads through the farmlands we first headed to Fouriesburg where we had brunch with Louis Du Toit and his wife. Myself and P.G’s last stop was at the Whistlers Distillery just outside of Welkom were we dropped off our visitors for a local rum tasting. Welkom entertained our visitors for the rest of the day and treated them to a “braai” one last time before heading to Johannesburg the next day. It was a privilege hosting our guests and I am definitely looking forward to visiting them in Reunion Island as soon as possible.

Round Table Weimar 209 visit Eastern Province
Christian Bogdanski is not just a dedicated Round Table Weimar 209 member Round Table Deutschland). A strong argument could also be made for him being the undisputed king of Round Table road trips! In 2023, he set out on an epic adventure that would make even the most seasoned travellers jealous. It all started with the Round Table Internal World Meeting in Cape Town, where Christian and his partner Frauke rubbed shoulders with Round Table enthusiasts from all corners of the globe. But he didn't stop there; Christian decided to take a unique approach to travel. While some might opt for a plane or a train, Christian went full-on Thelma and Louise style and hit the road – by car! But this wasn't just any road trip; it was
a journey through the Garden Route, a place where Mother Nature shows off her most breathtaking creations. With each twist and turn of the road, Christian must have felt like he was in a real-life car commercial. PS @Christiaan - ‘Why did the German tourist insist on renting a Volkswagen for their vacation? Because they wanted to "autobahn" their way to a memorable trip!’ After a memorable adventure, Christian rolled into Graaff Reinet for the 2023 Chairman's & Vice Chairman's Forum, and you can bet he had one heck of a road trip story to share. Who else can say they drove through quintessential South African paradise just to attend a Round Table meeting? But the adventure didn't end there.

Christian decided to cap it all off with a visit to the Round Table Alex Kenton 210 clubhouse on Middle Beach in Kenton on Sea. Because, why not? When you're a Round Table globetrotter like Christian, no clubhouse is too far, no adventure too wild. So, there you have it, folks. WILDSFEES 2023 “ALLES WAT MAL IS”
Every year on or about the first weekend of July everybody knows, what time it is in the Kirkwood 78 country, it’s The Spar Kirkwood Wildsfees time!! This year was the first Wildsfees again in two years’ time, due to the covid epidemic we had worldwide. Visitor numbers to the annual three-day SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees were back to near pre-Covid levels as visitors enjoyed perfect weather and an entertainmentpacked weekend. Stallholders report selling goods to visitors from as far afield as Mossel Bay and East London. Over the past 20 years the festival has grown beyond the Eastern Cape, and now attracts visitors from around the country.
Visitor numbers were up significantly year on year on the Friday and Saturday, but slightly down on Sunday, giving an overall attendance of around 40 000 through the gates. For us tablers, it is not just a weekend in the year where we hold our biggest project, but it is also a project, that we are super proud of. The Wildsfees allows us again to plow back into our community and extend the helping hand where it is needed the most. It is not just all fun and games at the fees, every tabler, his wife and/or girlfriend puts in the hard yards over the weekend with long shifts and double shifts, that must be done to make this project a success. Other tablers form

the area also pitches in over the period of the weekend to lend a helping hand and cover a shift or two, we commend and thank you tablers for that. We hope to see a lot more of you guys’ here next year, it is truly an experience for the whole family, and can be enjoyed by all in attendance, there is great food and drinks available with even better people that you are going to be surrounded by, you have no excuses now not to come and say hallo. Round Table Eastern Province's CVC Forum - Graaff Reinet
Graaff Reinet, September 18th, 2023 - On September 16th, 2023, the picturesque town of Graaff Reinet in South Africa's Eastern Cape became the epicentre of inspiration, collaboration, and community as it hosted the eagerly awaited CVC (Chairman & Vice Chairmen) Forum. The 2023 CVC was convened by Round Table Alex Kenton 210 Chairman, Thomas Sutherland.. This event, held at the esteemed Graaff Reinet Club, brought together Round Tablers from every corner of the Eastern Cape for a day filled with creativity, camaraderie, and visionary planning. Graaff Reinet has strong historical ties to Round Table. This setting added a touch of nostalgia to the Forum. The town once housed its own Round Table Club (#26), with its first meeting held on October 1, 1953, and the charter meeting on March 5, 1955. The club convened its meetings on the first Thursday of each month at the Graaff Reinet Club. This historical connection further emphasised the enduring legacy of Round Table within the community. The CVC proved to be a resounding
triumph, leaving participants and observers alike infused with a sense of accomplishment and a shared excitement for the future. The event, commencing at 9:00 AM, unfolded through a series of discussions and activities designed to nurture creativity and effective strategizing. Both seasoned Tablers and newcomers to the Round Table family engaged in insightful conversations on a spectrum of topics, ranging from community initiatives to groundbreaking projects. Round Table Eastern Province was fortunate to be able to induct a new member at the CVC. Eastern Province Area Chairman, Nico Schneider, together with Algoa 108 Chairman, Willie Opperman, welcomed Craig Falconer to the Association. Good luck, Craig! May you have a long and fruitful Table career. During the forum, the Round Table Eastern Province Area, under the leadership of its Vice Chairman, embarked on an extensive deliberation to recalibrate their strategies for the future. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the necessity of anticipating
INKUNDLA | OCT 2023 | 56
and meticulously planning for CAP fees in 2024, urging clubs to approach these projects with foresight and diligence. There was an overarching sense of anticipation regarding the inevitable increase in CAP fees in the forthcoming years, catalysing the introduction of the ambitious "AREA Project." This visionary initiative is poised to launch in 2023/2024, with each Table committing to donate two ‘lots’ to the ‘EP Area Auction’ as a demonstration of solidarity. The EP Area’s Chairman aspires to have this project operational by Springcon 2023. EP Stores also featured prominently on the agenda, with the Chairman unveiling a diverse array of available stock items. Several clubs had already submitted their orders to the storeman, emphasising the efficiency and efficacy of a centralised ordering process. Furthermore, the Chairman warmly welcomed feedback and ideas from all Tablers, fostering a spirit of collaboration and community engagement.

Two dynamic workshops emerged as pivotal elements in shaping Round Table's strategies for the future: "Growing Influence" and "Growing Membership." Workshop 1: Growing Influence The "Growing Influence" workshop, skillfully helmed by Jacques van Wyk, delved into the critical importance of expanding Round Table's influence throughout the Eastern Province. Participants comprehended that influence surpasses mere presence; it encompasses visibility, impact reporting, and strategic branding. The workshop facilitated a spirited discussion on strategies to augment Round Table's visibility. These strategies encompassed active participation in community events, establishing a robust online presence, and forging partnerships with local media to disseminate the Association's initiatives and triumphs. Wayne Stevenson, a seasoned Tabler, imparted a poignant anecdote illustrating the profound impact of Round Table's work, underscoring the
necessity of pride in Table and its brand. Impact reporting emerged as another vital facet of the workshop. Tablers brainstormed innovative ways to showcase the outcomes of their projects, not just within the Association but also to the broader community. Effective storytelling and the application of datadriven metrics emerged as indispensable tools for showcasing Round Table's positive influence. Regarding branding, members explored techniques to effectively convey the Round Table message. It was reaffirmed that branding transcends logos and posters. It revolves around conveying the Association's values, mission, and the tangible difference it makes in communities. Participants mulled over strategies to infuse these messages into their everyday interactions, spanning from social media to face-to-face encounters. As a consequence of this workshop, Tablers departed with a renewed sense of purpose, armed with practical
INKUNDLA | OCT 2023 | 57
strategies to boost Round Table's influence within the Eastern Province. They now possessed the tools to amplify visibility, report impact effectively, and communicate the Round Table brand with efficacy. Workshop 2: Growing Membership Also facilitated by Jacques van Wyk, the "Growing Membership" workshop was a dynamic discourse on tactics to allure and retain new members. This workshop recognized that membership stands as the lifeblood of Round Table, and nurturing a vibrant and diverse community of Tablers is imperative for its advancement. Participants embarked on an exploration of diverse avenues for engaging potential members. The dialogue underscored the importance of reaching out to local communities and offering them skill development pathways, rendering Round Table an attractive prospect for personal growth and community involvement. Hardus van Heerden emphasised
Round Table Eastern Province's CVC Forum - Graaff Reinet
the significance of follow-up and transparent communication with guests, especially in smaller communities where a personal touch carries significant impact. The workshop also cast a spotlight on inventive ways to engage young men. Tablers recounted experiences where potential members emerged from unexpected quarters and accentuated the need to provide opportunities for personal and professional growth within the Association. The concept of involving external friends in Table projects, encouraging them to become part of the Round Table movement, was passionately discussed. A recurring theme was the imperative of fostering relationships and rapport with potential members in relaxed, social settings. Ryno Lombard proposed that shifting engagement from formal meetings to a more informal, social milieu could make prospective members feel more at ease before fully immersing themselves in the Association. In conclusion, the "Growing Membership"
workshop underscored the criticality of attracting, nurturing, and retaining members as a cornerstone of Round Table's future. Participants left armed with pragmatic strategies to captivate and retain fresh members, ensuring a vibrant and ever-expanding Round Table community in the Eastern Province. Additionally, the issue of succession planning emerged as a paramount concern. Recognizing the necessity of effectively passing the torch and adapting to evolving circumstances, the Chairman exhorted members to remain vigilant for opportunities and to maintain deep engagement with their communities. To summarise, the Round Table Eastern Province Area's meeting was a testament to their steadfast commitment to unity, resilience, and adaptability in the face of change. By confronting pressing issues, cultivating community engagement, and charting a path toward a more influential and impactful future, they now stand ready to guide their communities towards a brighter tomorrow, fortified by their collective strength and shared

vision. The CVC underscored the sense of community that Round Table Eastern Province embodies. Beyond exchanging ideas, participants forged valuable connections and friendships. The event served as a reminder that when like-minded individuals join forces, remarkable achievements become possible. In conclusion, the CVC Forum in Graaff Reinet transcended being merely a gathering of Tablers. It was a celebration of community, innovation, and collaboration. The event showcased Round Table Eastern Province's unwavering dedication to effecting positive change in the region. For those who missed out on this year's forum, anticipation is already building for the next gathering. Round Table eagerly awaits the promising initiatives and projects that will stem from the ideas and connections forged on that memorable September day. By Thomas Sutherland
Xavier Project, Middelburg 126 Good day my fellow Tablers, friends and 41Ners. I trust all is well I would like to share a short story of how Round Table not only make one a better and stronger person but how it also gets into our younger generations blood line and what they learn from us all being part of Table. My son Xavier Lieuwes on a Sunday Afternoon to play with his Friend down the road and on this Lazy Sunday the rest of the house decided to go for a Sunday afternoon nap as we had a very busy and fun Weekend behind us. I have just finished the supper and went to lie down as we would eat after the nap. So about 16:45 the afternoon we woke up and wanted to start plating and getting ready for supper and as I took out the food to plate, I have noticed there was almost nothing left over. So, I called my son and asked Xavier about the food and if he had some and he replied. Yes, dad I was very hungry and could not wait till supper time. In my back mind I knew that it was impossible for a boy to eat that much if he was only 7 years old, so I asked him to go run a bath and asked mommy to go and speak with him as I was preparing something else for supper. So, the truth came out and as the kids were playing the friend asked if we have anything for them to eat and Xavier noticed that his friend, two sister’s mom and dad with their oupa were battling and he planned for them to have something for the night. I was not angry for the fact that he wanted to help and for the way he cares. So, I have asked him where he came up with the idea and how did he learn from what he have done.
“ And his Reply was that’s easy dad I have noticed that every time we have a function or event the goods go to people in need its due to Round Table that made him do what he did and that giving and making a change for good. Gives a better feeling than receiving.” So, the following Morning, I have posted it on your Round Table Group, and we have decided to make a plan to help more. So, the Tablers donated and went to go buy the basic food and needs we thought they might need to go on for a while and went to go drop of all the food at the house where he could also see there was needs and hard times going to happen. It is difficult to help everyone as we all know there are many people in our community facing similar obstacles and that we can also only help so much but we are making a difference and slowly the community will get better, and people will have love and laughter. They will stand together and when time is right also plan to help another family or person they see struggling. May Round Table inspire and change the world one day can we all have good memories meet new people change lives and just Stand Together. Hope you have a wonderful day. Kind Regards Foxie Lieuwes.

Celebrating Extraordinary Contributions In a remarkable evening that brought the community of Boesmansrivier and Kenton on Sea together, Round Table 210 Alex Kenton successfully concluded a spectacular event, "Into the Thick of It," at the Boesmansrivier Town Hall. During the event, two remarkable Tablers, Chris Ovens and Terence Bellingan, took centre stage to educate the community about the fascinating world of pollination activity among insects in the Eastern Cape Thicket. He painted a vivid picture of the vital role that insects play in this delicate ecosystem, emphasising how their actions contribute to the biodiversity and beauty of the Eastern Cape Thicket. Terence Bellingan, Grahamstown 11, a tireless advocate for biodiversity preservation, added depth to the discussion by highlighting the critical importance of conserving these unique creatures. He stressed that understanding the pollination activity of insects is not only a matter of ecological interest but a crucial component of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the natural world. to their commitment to conservation and education, further underscoring the significance of their contributions to this exceptional event. As we look back on this unforgettable adventure, it's essential to extend our heartfelt appreciation to a group of extraordinary individuals whose dedication and contributions made this event truly exceptional. Meaghan-Ann Adams-Murray, the talented mind behind Home Made Crafts by Meaghan, deserves our first round of applause. Her culinary expertise added an exquisite dimension to the event, tantalizing our taste buds and leaving us craving for more. Without her hard work and determination, the event simply wouldn't have been possible. Susan Muirhead from the Boesmansriviermond Ratepayers Organization (BRRAG) played an indispensable role. Her advice, leadership, and initiative built a solid platform for the event's success. Her positive influence served as a constant source of motivation and drive, ensuring that "Into the Thick of It" reached new heights. Rowene Johnston, representing Child Welfare Kenton On Sea, proved to be a true anchor during the event. Her hard work and unwavering presence turned the toughest challenges into smooth sailing, ensuring that every aspect of the event ran seamlessly. Rowene, we thank you for your dedication. In this digital age, connectivity is key, and Aaron Southey from Link-Up
Internet played a pivotal role in ensuring that it extended to the Town Hall. His provision of reliable internet services was invaluable, and his contribution to our online presence did not go unnoticed. Special acknowledgment must be given to Daleen van Wyk, whose dedicated hard work behind the scenes was instrumental in preparing the public ablutions at the Bushmansrivier Town Hall. Working alongside the catering team, she made the event possible. Her efforts in ensuring our comfort and convenience did not go unnoticed and were greatly appreciated. Jo Wilmot from Kenton-on-Sea & Boesmans Tourism deserves special thanks for her invaluable support in promoting our event. Stephanie Deysel from The Secret Garden Nursery enriched "Into the Thick of It" with her green thumb and expertise. Her contributions added a touch of natural beauty to the event that will be fondly remembered. To each of these exceptional individuals, Round Table 210 Alex Kenton extends heartfelt gratitude and thanks. Their presence and contributions will be cherished as we reflect on this adventure, and we eagerly anticipate the prospect of embarking on more remarkable journeys together in the future. #IntoTheThickOfIt #SpecialThanks #ImpactfulChange

moes skiet asook 'n pistool baan. Robertson

RT136 41 ’ners Braai
Round Table Pretoria 136 hosted a delightful event known as the 41ners Braai, bringing together a sense of nostalgia and camaraderie. This occasion wasn't exclusively for the 41ners, as the pure joy of reconnecting with old friends and engaging in conversations that harked back to days of yore was felt by all. The annual 41ners braai, held by the 136 chapter, was an unforgettable affair. The evening was truly remarkable as the seasoned gentlemen took center stage, regaling everyone with their anecdotes, jests, and even tales of their misadventures. Witnessing the founders of 136 and the rebellious spirits come together was heartwarming, emphasizing the enduring bonds of friendship they share. This gathering
underscored a crucial principle of Round Table: the connections forged at the table remain steadfast and enduring. The festivities were in full swing, and the tantalizing aroma of T-bone steaks, boerewors, braai broodjies, pap, and sheba wafted through the air. Libations flowed, accompanied by hearty laughter, as the Yard of Ale tradition was upheld, and tokens of esteem such as pins, coins, and banners were exchanged among both the veteran and new Tablers.
youthful organizers, Shaun and Hanco. Their planning was commendable and contributed to the overall success of the gathering.
A special touch was extended to the incoming 41ners as they experienced the novelty of the urinal funnel, all in good spirits and with a few beers to lighten the mood.

The combination of delectable cuisine and heartwarming companionship reached a pinnacle of excellence that only 136 Tablers can truly comprehend and appreciate. Best regards,
Dear Brothers, We had our annual Springbok Day at our Pretoria Community Center clubhouse on the 29th of July 2023. Stepping into the community center on game day is like entering a realm where passion and camaraderie converge between fellow tablers. When it comes to enjoying the exhilarating spectacle of the Springboks on a big screen, there's no better place than at our Pretoria Community Center clubhouse on game day. The atmosphere is charged with excitement as tablers gather, cold ones in hand and shots on coin drops, to witness the intense clashes, strategic plays, and electrifying moments that define the sport we all love. A rugby day at the Pretoria Community Center clubhouse is more than just a viewing experience, it's a celebration of camaraderie, friendly banter, and a shared love for the game. We also had our annual RT 87 Darts Day, with some cold ones in hand and many distractions, a day dedicated to the classic game of darts can be refreshing. This is a recipe for a memorable and bonding-filled darts day. As the darts fly and the competition heats up, friendships are strengthened, laughter echoes, and memories are etched in the hearts of all who participate. A darts day between friends begins with setting the stage. The community center atmosphere encourages relaxation and camaraderie, setting the tone for a day of friendly competition and shared enjoyment. As the dartboard takes center stage, the air buzzes with anticipation, and the unspoken promise of a day filled with both skillful throws and uproarious misses. Perhaps one of the most endearing aspects of a darts day among friends is the constant undercurrent of laughter. The moments of comedic misfires, unexpected bounces, and playful taunts create a tapestry of shared memories that often outshine the actual gameplay. Friendships are reinforced through inside jokes and lighthearted ribbing, and the moments of levity become cherished highlights of the day. Once the game kicked off, the intensity on the field was matched only by the fervor in the hall. The bone-jarring tackles, strategic plays, and breakneck sprints kept tablers on the edge of their seats. Every collision, pass, and try is met with a chorus of emotions from the tabler’s gasps, cheers, and groans as they ride the roller coaster of the game's twists and turns. At the end of the day, it was a day of fellowship and brothers coming together to create memories that they can cherish for a lifetime. Wian Vogel Treasurer RT136

Time was upon us again to have our yearly Pretoria RTT Potjieskos day. With all the Tables in attendance, we had to work hard to make it a good one. With 136 hosting this year it was clear that we had to make our visiting friends from Sweden the judges. With starters to mains to dessert we had to make sure our inner chefs were leading the way.All food were to be made in a pot as the rules stand. One Table that truly stood out this year was none other than Table 201.With their spirit and their teamwork it was obvious that they were the winners of the day. To top this off we had a really good laugh as all the Tables had to perform a skit. This made it truly awesome as the idea behind it is to put your name up to be part of RTT. Behind backstage or front of house or even more daring - as a cast member on stage showing your moves! The final battle for the day was our Seekat! With Table 136 taking the win with the fastest time to down it. We cannot wait for RTT and to see all of you there. Regards Chris Merts Round Table Pretoria 136

So today I sit here and write a story of such an amazing but long-awaited visit from my Tablers. I moved to Swakopmund around 2 years ago to make life a little easier regarding my day to day commute between the 2 coastal towns of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, as I have a workshop on the other side of the bridge as to where I table. After months and months of begging, not “always” handing in a report, keeping a social trophy a little longer than I should, going on a handover of a social trophy and not taking said trophy along, the list goes on and no, to be exact, 36 well thought but not all quite accurate reasons, I FINALLY was the topic of a long-awaited so-called RAID… 2 months of apparent planning without me knowing, Saturday the 12 of August was finally upon us, I worked all day and to the surprise of everyone involved, I was in no hurry to get home… after work I packed up and closed my shop, took a drive to visit my sister and then decided to make my way home. Being a Tabler for so long, I knew something was up, that day I suddenly had so many friends calling me, wanting to drink a beer, wondering why im not at a planned braai yet, them not getting hold of the home owner of said planned braai and rather waiting on me to go together…. So the RAID of Byron Westerdale started,
outside my house about 1h30m before I got home. There was a full team of not only Walvis Bay 36 members and legs, but some Swakopmund 145 and WHK34 members as well, a Hochland 41er also made a guest appearance. Joppie Kotze decided, if he is going to do something, he is going to do it to his fullest. At 18h30 I stopped outside my home to save my neighbours from this unplanned street party and let everyone in to go MAL. I was then informed by another tabler that we have a common friend in need of assistance as they got their brand new FORD Raptor stuck in the dunes… So, what did I do you ask, I left. Myself and PJ went on a mission to go assist with the bakkie that was a bit stukkie… We left my place of residence and drove out of Swakopmund to go assist with getting them out with a GWM On our arrival back at my home, we were welcomed with not 1 but 2 fires going, inside and outside, a few Tablers doing the normal raiding things and the rest rustig on the stoep having a cold one. All the festivities for the night were well under way. I was still in my work clothes and yet to go take a shower when I was cornered, and all protocol being met. The official letter or should I say scroll of the raid was taken out and read by Danie
INKUNDLA | OCT 2023 | 65
Bachman. Our Vice Chair and raids convenor Joppie Kotze and Danie came up with a list of 36 reasons why I should be raided, but im pretty sure I had given them way more…. There are so many points to discuss regarding the raid, but we leave it as is. We should not disclose any more details as to what went down that night, im not sure that Mr T (Pipeliner), Leigh(Member) and Chris(Guest) will ever be looked at the same again. Stevie Wonder made a guest appearance and some tablers decided to take a nap, legends say that Mother Russia was involved. I would like to thank my Table for taking the time to come and visit, all festivities ended at around 00H30 and my house was cleaned within the hour… The inside of my house that is, the outside... well that is another matter for another day. Once Joppie sends me some of the group photos and not only the ones he took of himself the whole night, I will post some of them to this report. Thanks again, it was great, now to make some more reasons for yall to come and visit again, AFTER my wife gets over her Bomskok that is… By Byron Westerdale
Fynnlands Football Club is based on the Southern Region off Durban and currently play in the South African Foot Ball Association DCLFA League. This league compromises of development teams within the central and southern regions of Durban. We were approached by the Chairman and coaching staff with a request to sponsor training equipment for the U11A Team. The members agreed to sponsor a new soccer kit for players, coaches and training equipment valued at R11 000. The kids and coaching team where overwhelmed that they now have a decent kit to practice and play games in and provided an afternoon of entertaining football. All kids need is a little hope , a little help and somebody who believes in them, Round Table is exactly what the youth of our country needs. Umhlanga Round Table no 155 is proud to be the sponsor behind this initiative driving #impacfulchange to the community and youth of Durban. Yours in Table

Groot Gees Lente Fees Where flowers bloom, so does Hope. With the arrival of Spring comes new adventures, one such adventure is Ballito 221 Lente Sokkie named Groot Gees Lente Fees. An evening filled with loads of fun, flowers and fellowship. Held on the 2nd of September 2023, the day after the official kick off of Spring, the tablers jumped into action to get the venue set for the evening. 221 had music, great food and even better loads of Afrikaans sokkie music as well as some other classics to keep everyone entertained. Word of this occasion was spread far and wide even so that a local dancing school came and danced the night away with us. From learning how to langarm “kite surfing” to teaching the locals how to tango and salsa. The night sky was filled with the sound of music and the smell of Boeries being cooked over the coals. The excess boeries made did not go to waste as the club donated more than 50 boeries, along with more rolls and accompaniments the next day to a local orphanage. Ballito 221 hope that next years sokkie will be an even greater success with more people coming to sokkie the night away. The Lente sokkie is the starting block for Ballito 221 projects this September as they are planning a BallitoBigBraai to celebrate Heritage day. Getting to know Gonubie 182 Round Table Name: Wynand Surname: Du Preez Occupation: Warehouse Manager Role within table: Philanthropist What is the procedure to join Round Table: Usually a prospective tabler gets invited by a standing member. This may be a friend or a colleague. When joining table you usually start as a guest. Guest are welcomed and introduced to the organisation and what it stands for. When you decide you’d like to join , the table considers among other factors your moral character and thereafter invites you to join table as a ” pipeliner “.Pipeliners goes through a rigorous initiation phase which usually last about 3 months. In completing this leg of your journey and if you & the table have decided you have enjoyed your experience thus far and wish to contribute more ; a secret vote gets passed approving or disapproving your acceptance as a full fledge member of the Round Table organisation.
What do you want to achieve within table: Personally I would like contribute to our local club much as possible and thus in turn to strengthen our position as a civic organisation whilst contributing to the broader community leaving a lasting impact for years to come.
How would you progress Table: Whilst we are currently busy with amazing and far reaching initiatives I have recently taken note of the impressive reach collaboration has had. Table I believe has made great strides in this regard and with further commitment I think collaborative works in the private and governmental spheres could see Table progress to new and higher heights.
Why did you join table, for charity or fellow ship? Explain why: Definitely a bit of both. I joined for the fellowship table develops amongst young men and I’ve stayed for charity. To make a impactful change in and around the community and foster responsible citizenship.

Round Table Border Area Mid-year ConFERENCE Hole-in-the-wall Nestled along the untamed coastline of the Transkei, a group of enthusiastic Tablers and their families from Round Table No.1 East London recently embarked on an unforgettable weekend adventure to attend the Border Area Mid-Year Conference. The journey began with a vibrant "shirt party" on Friday evening, setting the tone for the weekend's festivities. Round Table members proudly donned their home table shirts for an evening of fellowship and fun. Laughter and camaraderie filled the air as old friends reconnected and new friendships blossomed. On Saturday, the ladies were treated to a captivating scenic hike to the iconic Hole in the Wall, a geological marvel that stands as a testament to the power of nature. Along the way, they soaked in the awe-inspiring coastal views, their senses filled with the invigorating scent of the sea and the rhythmic sounds of waves crashing against the rugged cliffs. It was a journey of both physical and spiritual rejuvenation, offering a glimpse into the untouched beauty of the Transkei. While the ladies were immersed in the wonders of the coastal landscape, the men gathered for their meeting. Here, they discussed the principles of Round Table and shared insights on how they could continue making a positive impact on their communities and beyond. These meetings are the heart of Round Table, where ideas are born, plans are made, and the spirit of service is kept alive. Saturday night was a highlight of the weekend as Umtata 4, the convening table, hosted a traditional Transkei party. The venue was adorned with beautiful décor, capturing the essence of the local culture and traditions. The evening was a cultural exchange of sorts, where Round Table members and their families had the opportunity to experience the rich heritage of the Transkei people. The culinary delights of the evening were equally impressive. Two different types of potjie, slow-cooked stews with a blend of aromatic spices and locally sourced ingredients, had been simmering all day, filling the air with tantalizing aromas. It was a feast that satisfied both the palate and the soul. What made this weekend even more special was the presence of 10 out-of-area attendees from various Round Table clubs, including Pretoria 19 and 136, Florida 21, Impala 157, Bloem 158, and Golden East 181. As well as international guest, Kyle Chivers from Ilfracombe 327- RTBI. As the weekend ended, it was evident that everyone had a phenomenal time. Bonds were strengthened, memories were made, and a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of the Wild Coast and Transkei was cultivated. The Round Table No.1 East London's adventure to the Transkei was not just an escape from the routine; it was a celebration of friendship, culture, and the spirit of service that defines Round Table. In a world often characterized by fast-paced living, this weekend getaway served as a reminder of the importance of coming together, experiencing new horizons, and appreciating the beauty of both nature and human connection. Round Table continues to thrive as an organization that not only makes a difference but also creates lasting memories in the hearts of its members and their families. By Jethro Penny

Warm Harte in Winternagte - Dit is waaroor Carletonville Roundtable gaan!

"Key of Friendship"
In the annals of Matlosane 45, there's a revered relic known as the "Key of Friendship." This key, adorned with countless stories, embodies the spirit of camaraderie within our table. Each time it changes hands, it carries with it a unique narrative of friendship. However, the tale of M-Cee Smith and the "Key of Friendship" is one for the ages—a story of genuine friendship with a touch of humor that only real-life escapades can provide. It all began on a Saturday, when a merry group of 45 members, including myself, embarked on an adventure to Hennies Pub and Grill. Cold ones flowed, laughter echoed, and life was good. But as the night wore on, the ladies decided it was time to depart, leaving me behind with
nothing but my bag of clothes. Fast forward through a few more refreshments and a series of unanswered calls, and I found myself at the mysterious Snowflake building in Potchefstroom, accompanied by our new friends from the night's escapades. As the evening took a rather unexpected turn, I managed to step on a broken glass bottle, turning the floor into a Horror-inspired masterpiece of blood. Most folks would have thrown in the towel at this point. Every one left and I thought I am going to be stranded in Potch, without a Girlfriend, money and even my bag of clothes. But not M-Cee!! With a steadfast commitment that can only be found in true friends, he stuck

by my side, assuring me that everything would be just fine—because, you know, a slightly inebriated person with a bloody foot in Potchefstroom without transportation or a place to crash is just peachy. We may never fully understand how we made it through that night, but one thing was crystal clear: M-Cee Smith earned that "Key of Friendship" with flying colors. His unwavering support and unwieldy adventures make for a story that we'll laugh about for years to come. Cheers to true friends and the keys they earn along the way! YIT Melcolm van der Spuy
Attending the Boksburg 17 70th birthday dinner was an unforgettable experience, marked by camaraderie, international connections, and the promise of adventure. The event, hosted at the welcoming abode of Egbert, a venerable Potch 47 member, left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to be there. Egbert, a real interesting character, regaled us with captivating stories that spanned decades, painting a vivid picture of the club’s rich history. It was evident that this gathering was more than just a birthday celebration; it was a testament to the enduring bonds forged through shared passions within Round Table. However, what made this evening truly exceptional was the opportunity to meet individuals from far-flung corners of the globe, including Holland and Sweden. These internationals brought an exciting global perspective to the occasion, sparking conversations that transcended language barriers and cultural differences. Our primary mission that evening was to connect with three Swedish gentlemen, part of our team for an epic journey down to the 2023 world meeting in Cape Town. After reveling in the festivities of the 70th anniversary, we returned to Egbert’s place, where time seemed to stand still. We shared stories, laughter, and perhaps a few drinks, staying awake until the early hours of 6 am. As the first light of dawn broke, we gathered the Swedish adventurers and broke the exciting news to them. Our Pre-Pre tour was about to begin, with Klerksdorp as our next destination. The sense of anticipation and camaraderie in the air was palpable, foreshadowing the epic journey that awaited us. The Boksburg 17 70th birthday dinner had not only celebrated history but had set the stage for an extraordinary adventure that would unite us across borders and cultures, proving that the spirit of brotherhood knows no bounds in the world of Round Table. My Journey into Round Table: From friendship to Making a Difference Joining an organization can often be a pivotal moment in one's life, marking the beginning of new friendships, meaningful experiences, and a sense of community. For me, my induction into Round Table was exactly that - a transformative experience that opened doors to a world of camaraderie and service. Entering a new social organization can be an exhilarating experience, filled with anticipation and excitement. For many, being inducted into a group like Round Table is not just an initiation but right of passage into a vibrant world of friendship, community service, and personal growth. In this article, I'll take you through my induction journey into Round Table, sharing some of the incredible moments, values and fellowships I have encountered along the way. My journey into Round Table began with a simple invitation. By attending an opening night of round table, Jukskei 217 introduced me to the organisation. I was invited to my first social meeting by the chairman of Potchefstroom 47. The prospect of joining a group of like-minded individuals committed to community service and fostering meaningful connections instantly appealed to me. Little did I know that this would mark the start of a life-changing adventure. The induction process into Round Table is designed to make newcomers feel welcome and part of the family from day one which is exactly how I would describe my experience. From the moment I first walked into the clubhouse, I felt a sense of belonging. The table members were warm and welcoming as well as eager to share their experiences and insights. This journey involved learning about the organization's history, values, and various projects. It was clear that Round Table takes its commitment to service seriously. I have always been one to give back to those in need and round table has provided me with that opportunity time and time again. Once we experience the joy of giving without expecting anything in return, it changes who we are. As Winston S. Churchill once said “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give “. I look forward to being a member of this amazing organisation. By Pierre Grobbelaar

My name is Jean-Paul Olivier, and this is how my journey with the Round Table started. I send an email reaching out to the Round Table. My uncle was apart of RT in Secunda 231, he tagged me on Facebook on a few posts of the Round Table 47 Potchefstroom. I decided to contact the Table. I was nervous when they invited me to my first Sosial Meeting, but what do you expect? We did a Soup Drive for my first Project; at Round Table 47 we call it the “Hobo Safari”. It was a coalition project with Winter Night. I was hard warming for me to observe that there is a few people that really did need the bit of food and warm clothes. This was the first time where I saw that these members really help where they can! I was surprised by how personal some members take their duties, and on my first business meeting I saw that discussion around the Table can get intense, especially if opinions differ. The best for me must be that does not matter what, the men around this table will support each other even though it was not their preferred method of running a project. We all sit at a corner of a Round Table!

United with the 7’s On Saturday the 2nd of September the Round Table Boksburg 17 celebrated their 70th Birthday and acknowledging the fact that for the past 70 years they were active and prosperous in the community. This is a massive celebration and I think it is very important to realise that a Table could stand the test of time by being involved and grow with the help of their members and the people surrounding them. The Round Table Potchefstroom 47 obviously had to attend this event as the relationship between these two Tables are clearly strong. Also sharing the Nr 7 and it being a party there was really no doubt in skipping this event. The event was held at the clubhouse of Boksburg 17 and the turnout was terrific. There was various international guest that also attended the event in preparation of the annual Round Table International World Meeting that took place in Cape Town this year, but that is a different story on its own. Many local Tables also attended, and the organizers of RT17 once again managed to gather Tables from all over the country and
from 4 different Areas in ARTSA alone. The night began at a true LEGEND! Egbert Harmse, a past RT47 & RT7 & RT17 member (now a 41er), hosted some Internationals and we had a pre feast of +- 3KG of homemade prawns. We shared stories and got to know each other better before we went over for the official party. Some might be aware that Egbert is very close to the Scottish culture and always enjoys wearing and making genuine and proper kilts and before I knew it, I was dressed in full attire with the necessary traditions and customs in place. Upon arrival, we were greeted by some good friends and some old friends we met for the first time. The place was decorated with a clear sign of a woman’s touch, and Bea Maizy is the only one who could pull such a thing off! The dynamic between Cuan and his Missis is truly remarkable. The atmosphere was welcoming, and we all immediately felt like we were home. The food was amazing with various courses to be served and again in line

with a typical South African party. The drinks were cold and the company good, again I tip my hat to RT17 and the people who managed to pull this off. Cuan and Egbert had the audience on the edge of their chairs as they went through the proceedings and telling stories of the rich history of Round Table. The night came to a closure at a very late time, and friends had to greet each other as the made their way back home. For some it was only a couple of days apart till the RTI World Meeting, but for some it would be a long time apart. As we left, we all realized how great the evening was and saw all the effort that was put in on make this event so spectacular and special. I want to thank Round Table Boksburg 17 once again for this wonderful evening and congratulate the team on a job well done. I can’t wait to see what they pull of next and will definitely be celebrating with them on their 75th birthday party. Much Love, Wouter Potchefstroom 47

STNOFS Council Raid to Sasolburg 41 The day was Thursday 27 July. Objectives for the evening was to go and raid Sasolburg 41 on their Meeting. Council members of the STNOFS Area was the raiding party… We gathered at Mike, The Big Chief’s house shortly after work to refresh our mouth’s and to hydrate our bodies. The intention of this trip was clear and planned out in advance, to go and brainstorm and think of ways to organize the annual STNOFS Mass Raid. When the time came closer, the seven of us jumped in Mike’s Kombi and met Riaan there along with the members of V20 & S41. It was a difficult task, but we kept the pitstops to a minimum of only three. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a true Tabler welcome. The vibe and atmosphere were already alive at their meeting point, which is the bowls club in Sasolburg. Proceedings soon followed with Sargent Thys ready to keep us all in place, with his usual mix of canned sweets and international beverage that is most likely petrol abroad. Chairman of the meeting, who was Stefan “Pief” Louw, made sure that it was run in an efficient manner and that no time is wasted by debating or arguing out of place. The members of S41 & the Council of STNOFS made a clear effort to establish clear guidelines for the Mass Raid and put the plans in place. Overall contribution was welcomed, and we soon formed the strategy we would follow to make this happen. Closure was swift and attendees of the meeting thanked everyone present and gave solid feedback and compliments. We then indulged in a terrific supper prepared by the hosting Table and further discussions and brainstorming followed. It was net time to greet and part ways as we headed back to Potchefstroom to face the following morning, which was only a couple of hours away. Riaan kept us entertained with karaoke videos shared on the group as he travelled alone, and then we knew the purpose of the trip was executed in a sufficient manner. In an open platform I again want to thank Sasolburg 41 for hosting us and for making the evening a success. We all see the commitment and dedication you guys put into your club and are excited for the next big one. Good luck on your journey and remain as humble as you are. It is truly remarkable to see how involved you are in your community, and also impressive to comprehend how big your international relationships stretch. Sasolburg 41, we acknowledge and thank you! STNOFS Mass Raid Wednesday 23 August marked D-Day as it was time for the men from all their respective clubs to get in their vehicles and drive to the annual STNOFS MASS RAID. This year it was held at the Horse and River and the hosting Table’s was V20 & S41. From the moment people arrived, the vibe was lively and the atmosphere uplifting. We were surrounded by a majority of Tables and even surrounded with more friend. The sound of conversations and laughter quickly filled the air as people moved in closer to the focal point of the evening. It was also a big privilege for us to have Stefan Grobler, Past Past ARTSA President there to MC the event. It is also a special touch that he was a former STNOFS Tabler himself, residing back in Carletonville 50. There were also attendees from the Gauteng Area and Bushveld Area there to join in on the festivities. The fact that we hosted the event at a public place was also truly remarkable, as we had the opportunity to ask random individuals if they would be willing to wait and listen for a bit as we delivered speeches and feedback of Round Table in general. The turnout was breathtaking, and we were all super impressed with what V20 & S41 achieved. Public citizens were curious and wanted to know more, and the platform to learn was available to them. It was even more special to some than others as there was an induction at the event. Johan, who was at the beginning a prospect of Vereeniging 20, got inducted on the spot by none other than Past Past ARTSA President Stefan Grobler. You could see in his eyes and his heart that he was ready for this moment and that he truly appreciated it. In conclusion, the Mass Raid of STNOFS was once again a massive success this year and we thank all those involved! The Editor

VAT ‘n BIETJIE POTCH!!! Central Tri Area 2023 Although the event started on Friday the 29th of September at 16h00, the planning for this monster came much earlier in the timeline. The members from the STNOFS area have been working on this for almost three months… Not physically working every single day but planning and arranging along with registrations and regalia. Not to mention all the stress that came with to ensure that this weekend would be an absolute success without any hiccups. So Friday rolled in, and all was still busy organising last-minute arrangements and putting on final touches. The first to arrive was the Executive Council of ARTSA at sharply 12h25. They however did not start the Tri weekend until 21h00… Reason being is, was that they used the opportunity to have their meeting at the clubhouse of Round Table Potchefstroom 47 right next door. They were catered to and left alone to sort out all that was needed to sort out and doing reports on highly top-secret portfolios which would just go over the heads of the party Tabler. For the rest of the attendees, the registration table opened at 16h00 and the shooter bar next to registration opened at 15h00, because who does not love an early afternoon cold Jägermeister. Soon the Potchefstroom Rugby Club was filling up and members and friends
started to mingle and relax that the week was finally done. The members of STNOFS were always seen around running or helping wherever they could and made sure that all the guests were entertained and happy. Registration was done in a swift manner and drink were readily available and cold. Food was prepared right in front of everyone, to build on the inclusivity of the event and the aromas of lamb chops quickly filled up the air as people were enjoying themselves. While this was going on, there was also live music to appreciate as one of the Tabler’s from Vereeniging 20 entertained us with his voice and readiness of the guitar. Rugby was being played on both tv’s and the atmosphere of a proper party was ready to rock and roll. As people felt hungry, mostly forced by the wife that they should eat and that the kids are hungry, were ushered into the back where a mountain of food was prepared and available to dish up. Then the party took a quick shift to fourth gear when the Executive Council arrived… Welcoming began again and greetings were made to those who were early but kept till late. Drinks over here, drinks over there, conversations with travellers from far, conversations from travellers from near. It was lively and fun for everyone because there were no

problems on the horizon and there was comradery and fellowship present. It became Saturday morning, and the speed and energy was building. We all knew the bar closes at 02h00 and ESKOM as well. The rush to get last round and to cash in tickets followed… Members took what they could carry and went outside to make sure they did not stop or be affected by a closed and dark bar. The STNOFS gents were also present but, in the background, as they tidied up the place and started to lock up what they could. Soon they were done with the admin of it all an joined the outside afterparty by moon light. From what is told, everyone left the premises at roughly 03h15. Saturday morning came again, this time with headaches from eating too much good food and hydrating too less. The Elgro Hotel was in a buzz as people made their way to the breakfast area and preparing for day two of this marvellous event. Everyone made it to the welcoming hall on time with a couple of exceptions that were a bit late but was understandable because Potchefstroom is so big one might get lost or misjudge getting from the rooms to the hall which can take time.
VAT ‘n BIETJIE POTCH!!! Central Tri Area 2023 President Louis Radley gave a warm welcoming along with STNOFS Area Chairman Mike Menezes. Involving the Northen Cape and Free State Area Chairmen to do a prayer and Aims & Objectives. Following these matters were speeches, inductions of new members and awards to those present at the venue. The ladies departed on their tour and was put to the test of escaping a room with various puzzles and clues to get out. The gents remained to do reports and listing to candidates who are running for Executive Portfolios. Members then disembarked to separate halls to have their area meetings and things calmed down for a bit. The proceeding was short for some and long for others, especially STNOFS who were busy till almost 15h00. The Executive council and visiting areas made their way through the three meetings and gained valuable insight on how each of them operated withing their area. Lunch was served straight afterwards, and some needed it more than others. Then it was sleepy time and break time as there was about four hours to kill before the night’s affairs started. For the guys from STNOFS, this was not an option… They were still active and prepared and arranged that they had to as the night came closer. Managing the registrations once again and collecting regalia to dish out as well. The place also needed to be
cleaned and organised for what was to come that same night. With darkness upon us the party started up once again, this time for a pool party at the Elgro Hotel. Members rocked up from their holes and was looking smart in their area or table regalia. Comradery and fellowship were once again present, and an overall good vibe was in full spirit. Conversations were made and memories was shared and being made, all in spirit of a good, solid Table weekend. Another nice highlight of the event was the auction that took place to help raise funds for a child diagnosed with leukaemia and a whopping R 70 000 was raised in the process. WELL DONE!!! The party continued and food was being served again in a private and beautiful separate area and one by one people filled their bodies to gain energy and strength. Live music filled the air once again as Zander played the final night of his Central Tri Area tour as people danced and sang along with him. Fires were burning not just for display, but also in the hearts of everyone there as the took in everything that was available to take in. The view alone could not be described with words and the overall experience even less so. Sunday morning played into the previous night and members were still going strong, not giving way to the long roads
INKUNDLA | OCT 2023 |100
that laid ahead or the tiredness of their bodies. When the bar finally closed, it was time to hit the town and continue this high. Reports came in that the Hotel had to keep the front door unlocked as people came back from roughly 03h00 to 05h00, telling you that the party did in fact had to stay alive. This is merely a reflection of the weekend, and a lot might be left out, but the rundown of the weekend is clear. Everybody had fun, everybody enjoyed themselves and everybody will remember this event for a long time. I want to tank all those who travelled so far to join and attended, and I want to thank everybody who helped pout even more. Without both parties, none of this would have been possible and for that I want to give you all a round of applause. Let us keep on pushing and building on this wonderful organization and let us be thankful for being apart of it. We need to realize that being a Tabler or a Leg of Table is a privilege, and we should all stive for our own greatness and success, within Table and within our lives back home. For now this is goodbye, but be rest assured we will all see each other again for the Central Tri Area in 2024, hosted by the Northen Cape. Regards The Editor

It was a fun social with rum exchanges from Reunion Island and Africa-styled Rum. For the evening’s entertainment, they were given a proudly South African Braai (with some chicken) to show them our clubhouse and traditions. Welkom 40 Chairman exchanged banners and regalia and friendships were formed with invitations to go and visit Reunion Island. One of our guests that attended one of our meetings joined us in this experience and she had the following to say: “What a humbling experience. As people with means, we tend to forget about the struggling families in our communities, and we underestimate the impact we can make. Joining the Jacaranda Ladies' Circle in donating and distributing food sources showed me two things: how great the need in our community is; and how easy it is to support these families, even if you don't have the financial resources to give.”
