Guest JP Marais, Who are you?

MR CHAIR.

JACQUES MOOLMAN

Hi everyone my name is Jacobus Phillipus Moolman a somewhat shy and introverted person who has been honoured with the privilege of being chairman of “in my opinion” one of the very best tables in our organisation. A place where you truly feel at home when walking into our clubhouse door. A place where you are warmly greeted by brothers who truly want to know how you have been and what is going on in your life. A place where you can feel safe talking about the struggles and hardships you experience, where relevant advice and discussion about some of the tough stuff happen with ease and where there is always a joke to lighten the mood. This is a place where you come to appreciate the fact that you are not walking through life alone.

I believe the reason why we have been so successful in our pursuit to serve the community is the fact that we make everything a fun and enjoyable experience, everyone wants to be there and do their part in making every project a great success. All the members take responsibility for their tasks and will not shy away from being held accountable. This I believe is the result of the amazing fellowship and camaraderie we experience we have great respect for each other and want to go the extra mile for a brother.

I, as most people entering a position as chairman wanted to make changes and make it my own but this table does not belong to me it belongs to the excellent young men sitting at it and the community we serve. A table that is firing on all cylinders is a table where everyone has a important part to play and you truly feel that your effort is making a difference, where you can be proud of being the light in what can seem a dark place at times.

My goal is to lead our members in a way that each reach their maximum potential, and as a collective create impactful change on all events, projects, meetings, discussions we are involved at, all of us will be kept accountable and respectful of each-other and we will lead in unity to inspire, and make the rondel we so admire a symbol of greatness in our community.

I thank all that have entrusted me with this task, I will #leadtoinspire and create #impactfulchange.

‘MEMBERSHIP’

MEMBERSHIP: AN INVITATION TO YOUNG MEN - VICE CHAIRMAN HENRO LOUW

Hello, my name is Henro Louw, and I am the ViceChairman of Matlosane 45. As part of my portfolio, I am responsible for membership and extensions for our table. If you are a young man between the ages of 18 and 40, looking for a dynamic organisation to be a part of, let me introduce you to Round Table.

What is Round Table?

Step 1: Attend a Social Meeting

Round Table is a young men's organisation focused on personal and professional development, community service, and fostering fellowship among members. Our mission is to provide opportunities for young men to develop skills such as leadership, financial knowledge, and effective communication. These skills not only enhance personal success but also contribute to making a positive impact in our communities.

How to Become a Tabler

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming membership drive, a "Potjie & Wiener" night. This event will be a relaxed, social gathering where you can meet current members and learn more about what we do. You are welcome to attend with an inducted member, who can introduce you to the group and help you feel at home.

Why Join Round Table?

Our "Potjie & Wiener" night is the perfect opportunity to get to know us better. During this meet and greet, we'll share insights about our activities and projects while enjoying good food and camaraderie.

Step 2: Attend a Business Meeting

If you find our organisation appealing, we will invite you to one of our business meetings. Here, you will gain a deeper understanding of how we operate, organise projects, and contribute to our community.

Step 3: Become a Pipeliner

To become a pipeliner, the initial step towards full membership, you need to show continued interest by participating in our projects and attending meetings twice a month. This involvement will give you a hands-on experience of our work.

Step 4: Fulfil Pipeliner Criteria

As a pipeliner, you must meet certain criteria before being inducted as a full member. This includes:

- Convening a project of your choice, with guidance and support from experienced members.

- Maintaining a 75% attendance rate at our social and business meetings.

- Attending four area meetings, held every second month or so. These meetings are not only informative but also a lot of fun, providing a chance to meet members from other tables.

Our motto is ADOPT, ADAPT, IMPROVE. We aim to bring positive change in ourselves and our communities by organising events, raising funds for charitable causes, and promoting personal development. Being a part of Round Table means being part of a network of talented young men who challenge, inspire, and learn from each other. We share ideas openly, trust each other, and empower each member to make a positive impact.

If you would like to find out more about Round Table or are interested in joining us, please contact us. We look forward to welcoming you to our next event and potentially to our table. Together, let's adopt new ideas, adapt to challenges, and improve ourselves and our communities.

The fourth instalment of this soup kitchen, was a hearty bean soup. Again the people came in there numbers as the winter sun bowed its head, and a full moon lite up the klerksdorp night sky. Kos Kas

Two years ago, a simple message ignited a passion within me that has since grown into a cornerstone of our community. It all began when I received a plea for help from someone who, despite having a job and a roof over their head, was struggling to put food on the table. At that time, I was a newcomer to Round Table Matlosane 45, having only been inducted for two months. Eager to make a difference, I answered the call without hesitation. Little did I know, this was the beginning of a journey that would touch many lives.

Within just a day, six more requests for food assistance came in. It was then that I realised the pressing need within our community. Many were silently suffering, unable to meet the basic necessity of having enough food. This revelation spurred the inception of the Kos Kas project, a mission dedicated to alleviating hunger and providing sustenance to those in need. The Kos Kas initiative quickly garnered support from a few generous sponsors, enabling us to maintain and replenish our food stocks. Their contributions have been invaluable, ensuring that we always have enough resources to assist those who reach out for help. With this support, we have been able to keep the shelves stocked and ready to serve.

and countless hours spent driving and delivering food parcels, the smiles and gratitude of those we help make it all worthwhile. Seeing the relief on their faces and knowing that they have one less worry is the greatest reward.

This project has shown me the power of community and the incredible difference we can make when we come together. It has been a humbling experience to be part of something that directly impacts people's lives, providing them with the support they need to get through tough times. As we continue to grow and reach more people, I am committed to ensuring that Kos Kas remains a reliable source of assistance for anyone in need. It is my promise to keep driving, delivering, and smiling, knowing that each effort brings us closer to a stronger, more compassionate community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and believed in the Kos Kas project. Together, we are making a difference, one food parcel at a time.

Empowering Ligbron School:

Fulfilling Wish List Items with Community Support

In a heartwarming collaboration, Ligbron Academy, an independent school serving autistic children of various ages, received vital support after winning R10,000 from OFM. This grant facilitated the realizatdion of key items from their wish list aimed at improving accessibility and functionality within their school environment.

Upon learning of Ligbron's victory and their wish list, our roundtable, Matlosane 45, committed to maximising the impact of this opportunity. We engaged with the school's principal to understand their specific needs, which included two televisions for educational purposes, wheelchair ramps to enhance accessibility between classrooms, and a secure medicine cabinet.

Realising the financial challenge posed by acquiring the TVs alone, we actively sought sponsors to support our initiative. Through our efforts, we successfully secured sponsorship for the materials needed to construct the wheelchair ramps and procure the medicine cabinet. This collaborative effort exemplifies the power of community support in meeting crucial educational and accessibility needs.

On the day of the handover at Ligbron School, the gratitude from the staff, including dedicated teachers, was palpable. Witnessing firsthand the impact of our contribution reinforced our commitment to continue supporting Ligbron in the future. The items provided not only fulfil immediate needs but also contribute to a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Looking ahead, Matlosane 45 remains dedicated to exploring further opportunities to assist Ligbron School. Whether through additional donations, fulfilling remaining items on their wish list, or offering ongoing

support, we are committed to fostering a lasting partnership that positively impacts the lives of students and educators alike.

The collaboration between Ligbron School, Matlosane 45, and our sponsors exemplifies the transformative power of community engagement. Together, we have made significant strides towards enhancing educational resources and accessibility for autistic students at Ligbron, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in creating inclusive educational environments.

As we continue to look forward to future opportunities for collaboration, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting Ligbron School and its invaluable mission.

Bowling for Blankets Winter Knights

On the chilly evening of June 14th, the Klerksdorp Bowls Club was abuzz with activity, warmth, and camaraderie. The occasion was the Bowling for Blankets Roll Ball Night, an event organised by Round Table Matlosane 45 with a heartfelt mission: to gather blankets for those who cannot afford them during the harsh winter months. It was an embodiment of our commitment to the Winter Knights project, ensuring that everyone in our community has the warmth and comfort they deserve. Despite the biting cold, all ten members of Matlosane 45 showed up in their shorts, ready to work through the night. Their attire was a symbolic gesture, a way to experience, even if just for a few hours, the discomfort that so many face without adequate warmth. This empathy-driven approach set the tone for the evening, reminding us all of the importance of our cause. The atmosphere was electric with music playing on the greens, creating a lively and festive environment. The enticing aroma of food being prepared by Holy Smokes Food Company and the comforting scent of Mugg and Bean coffee wafted through the air, adding to the evening’s charm. These delightful sensory experiences, coupled with the high spirits of the

The Klerksdorp community came out in full force, braving the cold to support this worthy cause. Their generosity and enthusiasm were heartwarming, demonstrating once again the incredible power of community spirit. Together, we managed to raise an impressive R18,000 worth of blankets and donations. The success of this event would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Klerksdorp Bowls Club, our dedicated sponsors, and every individual who attended. Your contributions have made a tangible difference, ensuring that many will sleep a little warmer this winter. A special thank you goes out to the members of Matlosane 45 for their hard work and dedication, and to the Klerksdorp community for showing up and supporting us so wholeheartedly. Your participation and generosity have made Bowling for Blankets a triumph, and a beacon of hope for those in need.

As we reflect on this wonderful night, we are filled with gratitude and pride. It is a reminder that when we come together, we can create warmth, not just through blankets, but through acts of kindness and solidarity. Here’s to many more nights of bowling, bonding, and bringing warmth to our community.

RAFFLE PROJECT

One of our big yearly funds projects, THE HUNTING RAFFLE, now its 4th consecutive year running with great success. The objective is to raise funds for specific causes, ranging from drought relief, old age homes, medical needs, to our KOSH KIDS project.

We set ourselves a goal of 700 raffles this year, and hope to reach this, and keep on expanding this project boundaries. We have managed to get 6 prizes in total, to give more a chance to participate.

We have a project saying, minimal effort maximum reward, and have found this very true, in the administration being the biggest task.

The funds raised in this years raffle have been earmarked for our KOSH KIDS project, as well farmers in need of assistance.

With final tickets being sold, and tally to happen we believe the winners of this project will be announced shortly.

Please get in touch to get involved with this project.

WARMFEES

On June 15th, the Warm Fest in Rustenburg marked a day of compassion and community spirit. Departing from Klerksdorp early that morning, attendees were welcomed by Martin Bester and his team, who set the mood with their soulful music. Throughout the day, we encountered numerous individuals with open hearts, each contributing blankets and canned food to support those less fortunate.

A particularly touching sight was the overwhelming presence of members from Matlosane 45, demonstrating their unwavering support for the cause. Their solidarity added to the event's warmth and sense of unity.

In the afternoon, amidst the charitable activities, rugby fans gathered to cheer for the Bulls, who emerged victorious. The joyous atmosphere continued into the evening as participants packed up and reconvened at a local restaurant for refreshments and lively conversations.

The Warm Fest not only provided essential donations but also fostered connections and a shared commitment to making a difference. It was a day where generosity, music, sport, and community came together to create lasting memories and reaffirm the power of collective goodwill.
