Winter Knights Algoa 108

When we sat down in the beginning of the year to discuss our various projects and convenors, I immediately knew Winter Knights was the project I wanted to convene as I know what this project means to both me and the beneficiaries. The sense of feeling that overwhelms you when you see a smile on the faces during the hand-outs.

The collections started off a bit slow, so we had to think out of the box this year as we are all feeling the grunt as we are trying to find our feet coming out of the Covid pandemic.

We contacted our local Algoa Toyota Dealership as they are a registered partner for the Round Table Winter Knights project. Without any hesitation Mr William Whitefield ‘Algoa Toyota General Manager’ said we must come & see him. Upon chatting to Mr Whitefield, we realised there was major shortage of blankets for our project this year. Mr Whitefield then made a few calls, and we were called in to come & collect a total of 30 brand new blankets which they went and purchased for us to hand over to the homeless & less fortunate. Some of his staff members also assisted by collecting clothing & nonperishable foods for our Winter Knights hand-out.

We then decided to contact some of the schools in the area to see if we were able to collect some kiddies clothing as we knew there are plenty of younger children out on the streets in the Icey cold conditions. Algoa
