PROJECT NSUO - A DROP OF WATER.

Background

The water crisis is real. It’s affecting women, children, families and farmers. Women and girls in sub-Saharan Africa are spending hours a day fetching dirty water which leads to illness and disease, robbing entire communities of their futures.

Lack of access to safe water and proper sanitation limits education and food production, it harms health and leads to a cycle of poverty.

The drinking water supply and sanitation sector in Ghana faces a number of challenges, including very limited access to sanitation, intermittent supply, high water losses and low water pressure.

To counteract these issues, the chief and elders of the community reached out to the President of Rotaract Bahrain Miss.Tanima Chakravarty to extend a helping hand in this regard.

The project helped curbed the rampant rise in water borne diseases and infections, in addition to that the rural communities now has access to clean water which has improved the quality of life for families. The collective effort of the amazing and selfless individuals of Rotaract Bahrain helped reduce the daily burden of water collection that falls on women and children. The incidence of water related disease declined. Local farmers are now be able to increase crop production and nutrition levels has improved.

CaretoShare byRotaract Yerevan Fightingfoodwaste The winner

Rotaract Club of Yerevan won the Innovation Grant in the Rotaract District 2452 Conference Awards.

"Care to Share” is a project aimed at lowering hunger, fighting edible food waste, and raising awareness about the food-sharing culture. "Care to Share” will be a mobile application providing a platform for the HoReCa sector to share edible food distributed into bags for serving one or more people each, which otherwise would be wasted. Meanwhile, the application will allow people who need to buy food at lower prices or for free. It will enable both delivery and takeaway options The core idea is aimed at fighting the huge amounts of edible food waste in Armenia and helping those in need to fulfill their basic human need of eating.

“We hope to raise awareness through social media, and outside of it, about the issue of edible food waste in Armenia to motivate people to be part of the wave,” says Elen Pavleyan, the president of the club.

The future of this project is much bigger than just a food-sharing app. It can be elevated from a food exchange platform to a database of people in need and those who can give a helping hand. An organized, structured system will not only help people with hunger but will also be able to address other issues, such as clothing, hygiene, etc.

The world is moving forward with technology. Moreover, we need to incorporate the excellent tools and technology for charity, too. We aim to use information technology features to provide more goods to more extensive population segments. With "Care to Share,” we strive to create a platform that will use the advances of simple IT operations to solve one of the biggest problems of humanity - hunger.

We sincerely thank the District Team for this opportunity and we hope to launch “Care to Share” in the summer of 2023.

ROTARACT AMMAN

The latest newsletter brings a heartwarming story of kindness and generosity. The RAC Amman visited an orphanage located in Marka, Amman, and spent a day playing with the young orphans and gifting them toys. The joy on their faces was enough to warm anyone's heart.

This visit was part of a large international community service project, which included 39 countries around the world. The initiative was started by the Rotaract Club Belgrade Dedinje, and RAC Amman was proud to be a part of it.

It's stories like these that remind us of the importance of coming together as a global community and spreading joy and happiness wherever we can. The RAC Amman and all the other clubs involved are truly making a difference in the world, one smile at a time.

ROTARACT ZGHARTA ZAWIE

An inspiring story of empowerment and education. In honor of International Women's Day, a "Embrace Equity" PD session was organized, and it was a great success.

On Saturday, March 11th, the session began with a discussion about the discrimination that women face in the industry. Josephine, a past president, shared her personal experience of being one of the few female mechanics in Lebanon. Her story was eye-opening and inspiring to everyone in attendance.

The session then moved on to more practical tips, with useful information on basic car maintenance knowledge being shared. Participants were given hands-on training on how to make sure their car was running smoothly, with a model car and their own cars being used for the tutorial. Overall, it was a fantastic session that left everyone feeling empowered and informed.
