tive for the year 22-23 is certainly an important step growth as a leader. I can summarize this role in two

First, a brief history of me and Rotaract I joined Rotaract back in 2013 while I was in law school at the Saint Joseph University of Beirut - USJ I served as a Public Relations and Media Director in the Rotaract Club affiliated to the university; the Rotaract Club of De Beyrouth USJ and remained as a friend of the club after my graduation However, my Rotaract journey did not stop there. With the support of our Rotary Club De Beyrouth, we founded a club called “De Beyrouth Millennium”, that assembled USJ alumni, in which I was assigned as a founding Vice-President and held many directorial and board positions In March 2020, I was elected as President of the club for the RY 20-21 Lastly, I served as Vice-District Rotaract Representative for Lebanon during RY 21-22. Fast forward to this year, I look forward to serve the district by sharing the knowledge I have acquired so far in this organization Most importantly, I am eager to learn more, discover more and do more

Fellows, my years in Rotaract have been inspirational to me. I have been mentally upholding this virtue: “Share your knowledge and experiences, and equally learn from their experiences and backgrounds. Continue to be a mentee for you to be able to mentor ”

We are Rotaractors today for a reason; “Having a sense of purpose” is the most popular reason why we are Rotaractors, followed by making a difference, friendship, and networking

In closing may I say, I am truly humbled and honored to assist Rotaract clubs of District 2452 and to help in implementing this year’s District theme “Accelerating the Vision”. This year, I would say, while we have accomplished much, but there is still much to do moving forward. One thing for sure: Change is here, keep going, keep growing, keep exploring and keep experiencing! I look forward to grow with this community today and for the years to come, and so should you dear fellows.

Rotaractly yours, Mayssa

What's in your Presidential Kit?

Have you ever wondered what's in your President's Kit?

Although we call it Presidential, it's for the entire club because it consists valuable documents that will support the committees and the work of the Club throughout the year.

What is President's KIt?

Our advanced approach to Rotary and Rotaract knowledge

Usually shared in the first week of July, It is the responsibility of the President to transfer the documentation to the concerned party and to delegate tasks if any. Let's make a self-check of what you've been able to explore until now from the Kit:

With aligned vision we have a higher reach. The District Guidlines are prepared for the clubs to have a piece of advise from the District and to follow certain pattern that will help their productivity.

The District Guidelines are for the Committee Heads and to support the Strategy Planning of the Club.

The guidlines are not criteria for awards, but more of a support in order to have the good work recognized.

We highly encourage the Club to host a meeting to revise the District Guidlines.

You can have a glimpse of what's in them in the next page.

Elie’s thoughts on Entrepreneurship

Elie Bassil

What is Entrepreneurship? How can you become one?

I have always thought that Entrepreneurship is about freedom, to do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it without questions asked Take a vacation when you want, stop working if you feel like it, or skip a day of hustle if you desire

It turns out that my vision of Entrepreneurship was not wholly accurate At least at the start of a new venture, a founder does not own his time. His business, responsibilities, and mostly his clients are the ones in control of his clock

I have been living my passion for entrepreneurship for nine years, and my idea of it has changed several times

On the other hand, I do believe that Entrepreneurs are free. They are free to express themselves how they would like, and their way of doing it is by creating their own way of doing things, also known as their own company

Of course, entrepreneurs take this risk with hopes that their venture will grow one day and financial freedom, social impact, time ownage, and other benefits will be the outcome

Entrepreneurs are change makers According to Professor Joseph Schumpeter, Entrepreneurial people are the ones that drive the world’s economy. He based his theory of creative destruction on Entrepreneurs who, for him, are innovators that create new things and destroy older things We can give the example of Apple, which came up with the smartphone that changed the whole concept of phones, and now rare are the people who own phones that do not support smart features

An entrepreneur is not a business owner; it is someone who sees an opportunity in the market and creates a product or a service that adds value to people’s lives by maybe being better, faster, or more affordable than what exists on the market An entrepreneur can be a super employee in an established company, which is the concept of Intrapreneurship.

You can learn to become an entrepreneur, and like any other skill you cultivate, Entrepreneurship is built over time through a lot of trial and error. One can’t become worthy of the title of an entrepreneur by reading books or simply owning a business By putting on the work, we start understanding what entrepreneurship is about, which takes a lot of courage since it is an ambiguous leap in a valley of uncertainties

Elie’s thoughts on Entrepreneurship

According to my experience and research, it takes three mindsets to become a successful entrepreneur The first one is the reflective mindset which is composed of your emotional, mental, and behavioral status The second one is the analytical mindset, the actual business, and the industry skills you need to thrive in your market. The last one, I call the worldly mindset. It is to understand the environment you live in, the restrictions, the opportunities, and whatever is happening in your entourage.

To recap briefly, Entrepreneurship is about innovation and value creation; it is an array of unknowns that one can approach by cultivating the three mindsets

PROJECTS OF THE MONTH !!

As mentioned:” Community service is at the core of our priorities at RAC Jumeirah.”

Rotaract Club of Jumeirah,in a thoughtful way, have spent a day with Kids of Senses (care for special needs) by playing games, sports and art.

This project didn’t only drew a smile on kids faces and left them with great memories. But also reminded us of innocence and unconditional love.

All our gratitudes are sent for Rotaract Club of Jumeirah for this amazing Community Service.

Now we can call it a day!

All because of the four clubs, we learned, explored, danced, face painted, ate, sang, played, swam but mostly we created memories in Tyre.
