Dictumof EDITOR Assalamualaikum, By the grace of Allah (SWT), I have got the post which will lead me towards new experience and life lesson. The days of yesterdays and the days of tomorrows in the club are the days of learning. The solidarity, the bonding, the professionalism and the leadership all these are tied in one single name and that is team Rotaract Club of Chittagong.

With the help of Team Chittagong, today I am going to publish the Third Monthly Bulletin "SAIL" of the new year 2023-24.

The name of the bulletin of the Rotaract Club of Chittagong is "SAIL". "SAIL" means wing of Boat, in Bengali it's cvj". By using sail with wind a sailor can easily go to the destination. Here the Sailor is the President and all of the club members are Sail. The wind is similar to the speed of their work. Using the wind sailor can reach at the goal. Every rotary year has started with new theme. In the same way, our new President has taken the new theme, which is to "Do Something New By Utilizing Rotaract". We hope that all of you will co operate us.

I wish for blessings to everyone. Err is human. If there is any mistake in that bulletin, then please everyone will apologies me and seeking advice from everyone for correcting the error. Expecting this to be a healthy and beautiful life to all.

What does a successful life mean to you? Whether it is as grand as owning our own business or as simple as finding a way to balance our work and family life, we all want our lives to be a reflection of success. But what steps are you taking to make that happen?

Whatever your end goal may be, follow these ten inspirational ideas to help keep your life on track and make your dreams become a reality.

TAKE DECISIVE AND IMMEDIATE ACTION : An idea without a plan is still just an idea. In order to make your dreams a reality, you will need to take action and make it happen.

SET REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS Although it is important to maintain a high level of standard that we set for ourselves, it is also easy to get carried away. Don’t punish yourself when things don’t go as planned; stay persistent and positive to get things done. The real world doesn’t reward perfectionists—it rewards people who get things done.

WORK OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE When an opportunity presents itself, just go for it, and don’t let fear hold you back. You won’t be able to grow as an individual if you choose to stay in the same place. Challenge yourself to step outside of your comfort zone.

MANAGE YOUR TIME WISELY Prioritize your goals, and decide what is worthy of your time now and what can wait. When your schedule is more cleared up, you will find you will have the time to instead be more productive, which is what will move you forward to a more successful life.

FOCUS ON MAKING SMALL, CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENTS Let’s let Henry Ford handle this one: “Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small pieces.” Making small, attainable goals will, in turn, help you reach the bigger picture quicker and with much less stress.

MAINTAIN YOUR HEALTH Studies show that you are at your best mental state and happiest when you take the time to take care of yourself.

LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES Every mistake made is a lesson to be learned. The only true mistake you can make is choosing not to attain your goal because you are afraid of making a mistake. Stay positive and when the going gets tough, keep going!

HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN We take action to empower educators to inspire learning at all ages.

More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population.

Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. We support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.

Rotary members make amazing things happen, like: Opening schools: In Afghanistan, Rotary members opened a girls’ school to break the cycle of poverty and social imbalance.

Teaching adults to read: Rotary members in the United States partnered with ProLiteracy Detroit to recruit and train tutors after a study showed that more than half of the local adult population was functionally illiterate.

New teaching methods: The SOUNS program in South Africa, Puerto Rico and the United States teaches educators how to improve literacy by teaching children to recognize letters by sounds instead of names.

Making schools healthy: Rotarians are providing clean, fresh water to every public school in Lebanon so students can be healthier and get a better education.

Enhancing educational systems: In Kenya, Rotary clubs are working with the Global Partnership for Education and local and national governments to advance life-long learning opportunities for poor and marginalized children.

SERVING IS THE BEST

MEDICINE

Murilo found the support he needed in Rotary and Rotaract to deal with his medical challenges.

Just when I thought my health had thwarted my desire to serve, I discovered I could still serve and that serving is the best medicine there is.

In 2021, I had plans, career goals, dreams, and projects waiting to be executed. But at the age of 28, I was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord. I faced many procedures and require a cane or walker to move about, among other limitations.

With any medical challenge comes fear and question. Why is this happening? What is this going to mean? How am I going to continue to do what I love most within this new reality?

On top of all these, I had accepted the presidencies of two clubs in a single Rotary year, that of my Rotaract and Rotary clubs. I was also a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team for District 4510, a DEI director for the Rotaract district, and incoming District Rotaract Representative.

But what I thought would be a bad Rotary year for the two clubs turned out to be the best of years. Through it all, my sense of belonging to both Rotary and Rotaract grew.

Often we place the greatest burden on ourselves. I struggled with thoughts that I had not accomplished all that I could have; that I had not given enough of myself.

Despite this struggle, I learned to live with my limitations. I was able to deal with things that were unseen by others and things I never imagined having to face. Even through doctor’s appointments, procedures, doses of experimental medicines, and the need to take time off to rest, I was able to be there for my club and they were always there for me.

My Rotaract club was the top giver in our district to The Rotary Foundation, and we came in second for membership growth. We took first place in the action category for our projects.

The Rotary Club of Pacaembu received recognition for our DEI committee. Also, thanks to the generous giving of our members in support of local and international projects, we were able to welcome four new Paul Harris Fellows. Giving to the Foundation was a priority, and we were able to maintain our giving levels.

I also helped my club host its first-ever Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. In 63 years of supporting the Foundation, we had never held a RYLA. I had butterflies in my stomach when it began, but when we pulled it off, it was a dream fulfilled.

Later, we were organizing a charity fair when I learned I would need to spend 15 days in intensive care. My fellow club members were there for me. They sent me photos, videos, and audio while I was in the ICU. In this way, I felt that I was not only in my hospital room but also with my Rotary family taking part in our project. In my most extreme medical challenge, I experienced my greatest sense of belonging in Rotary.
