ALIEN CHASE 5K WALK/RUN

Saturday, July 6 7-9am

$35 | DeBremond Stadium

Have you ever seen an alien? This may be your chance. Walk or run this 5K course and let us know if you spot a UFO. We believe; but do you? Alien-themed costumes are encouraged! All participants will receive a race-day T-shirt and medal.

Online registration ends Friday, July 5 at 12pm.

Last day for early packet pickup is July 5 at the Roswell Adult Center, 8am-5pm.

Race-day registration is July 6, 5:306:30am. Cash only.

This type of dance reflects the traditions, cultures and beliefs of people in a particular region. Folkloric dance expresses the life and spirit of a people through its movement and music.

Tap dance sharpens reflexes and improves memory skills and coordination. Beginning classes will work toward establishing fundamental tap movements, vocabulary and will work on basic rhythms and steps that progress into fun and lively dance combinations.

WATER AEROBICS

Low/Moderate impact aerobic exercise performed in the water. Similar to traditional aerobics on the floor, the water environment provides less strain on our joints. *High-intensity Interval Training

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS

All Ages | $90

Whether you are seeking lessons for a beginner swimmer, or looking for stroke refinement, private swim lessons are designed to meet your needs and personal goals. During the first private swim lesson, a swim instructor will do an assessment and discuss the best possible direction for each individual’s private swim lesson experience to be successful and enjoyable.

Private Swim Lessons are scheduled during regular shifts with a limited number of certified instructors. Lessons consist of six 45 minute one-on-one sessions. Please contact us for availability. 575-624-6719

AQUATICS FITNESS CLASSES

ACTIVE ADULTS

Mon/Wed/Fri 1-2pm

Great for seniors and adults of all ages. Small-group personal training consisting of a dynamic warm-up, aerobic exercise, resistance training, and a static cool down. Helps with your cardio strength, endurance, flexibility and balance.

AEROBICS

Join us for an exercise that combines rhythmic aerobic movement with stretching and strength training.

STRETCHING

Loosen those muscles and joints from head to toe with some relaxing guided stretches. Pairs well with Senior Workout!

YOGA

Yoga enthusiasts of all levels are welcome. Learn some of the most common poses that are physically challenging, but at a slower pace for beginners.

SENIOR WORKOUT

A workout that is good for different levels of mobility. All movements can be easily adjusted to fit a variety of needs.

VIDEO WALKING

Our camp offers beginner to intermediate players the opportunity to build a volleyball foundation. The drills taught at this camp will help them to serve, pass, set, block and hit the ball. Takes place at the Recreation & Aquatic Center.

Join local game designer/master Matt Bromley (Wildbird Games) at the table each month for a new adventure. Learn a new game or hone your skills with likeminded folks and players of all ages. Gentle yoga moves slowly and mindfully, allowing you to move safely into a variety of standing, seated and supine poses, calming the mind and body. Join 200-hour certified yoga instructor Alice Buck for this all-levels gentle yoga class in the Museum’s galleries. No RSVP required.

This 16-week open studio session is for adult students who have taken at least one previous clay class at the Museum, and wish to work independently outside of a class format. Clay is available for purchase in the studio.

Hours are 10 am to 5:30 pm daily with the exception of Wednesdays, when the studio closes at 4 pm for cleaning, and during Kids Clay classes, June 10-14 and July 8-12, 10 am - 2 pm.

JUNE 8 - BUGGIN’ OUT!

It’s officially summer break and the bugs are out! Do you have a favorite creepy critter? Abuzz with feelings for a flying thing? Make your own mask to bring out your inner insect.

JULY 13 - SHADOW DRAWING

Have you noticed; your shadow follows you EVERYWHERE! Let’s try and catch it, and maybe some others out in the courtyard. Bring your own and we will provide some smaller ones to draw and paint once we get a good outline.

AUG 10 - CLOUDS OF COLOR

Just because it’s cloudy outside, doesn’t mean there’s no color! Let’s make some fluffy, rainbowy, stormy clouds to hang around the house. Even if we don’t always get rain in the desert, we can bring our own indoors and out.

For June, explore the theme of human features in which the students inspire the masterpieces through painting and drawing or clay, or register for both back to back! These courses will introduce students to working with multiple materials and learn the basics of drawing and painting or sculpting with clay. Students will create their own works of art and will be able to take home their own handmade pieces. Supplies are included.

Model rocketry, a super fun, crowdpleasing STEM activity, is a safe and widespread hobby that has been credited as a significant source of inspiration for children who eventually become scientists and engineers. Learn to design, build and fly your very own model rocket in this introductory class. See and learn how mathematics explains the world of rockets and aeroscience through simple lessons in physics and rocket flight. Learn the laws of rocket stability and aerodynamics. Best of all, you will actually build and launch your own rocket at the end of the course to show your family and friends what you learned. Supplies included.
