SPLASH on in with summer swim lessons!

Pre-K and Guppies lessons are basic-level courses that are designed for students with limited water experience. Sharks lessons are for children with some experience in the water independently, those who can float without support and can recover to a vertical position on their own.

Tabata Aquafit Training

Included with membership or daily fee

Group fitness Tabata is high/moderate intensity intervals consisting of 10 sets of fast-paced exercises each performed for 60 seconds of active work and 10 seconds of rest.

Water Pilates

Included with membership or daily fee

Splash into action with water pilates! This exercise places an emphasis on developing a strong core through exercises that focus on precision and accuracy.

Water Aerobics

Included with membership or daily fee

Looking for a low-impact exercise in the water? This type of exercise is similar to normal aerobics, but since it’s done in the water, it places less strain on your joints. Intensity level is low/moderate.

This four day camp allows local youth who are interested in becoming a lifeguard, a chance to experience a day in the life of a certified guard. They will go through a modified lifeguard course starting with a swim assessment. Once they pass the swim assessment, they move on to learn lifeguard skills, such as CPR & First Aid, teamwork, the importance of physical conditioning, zoning, rotations and secondary duties.

YOUTH PROGRAMS GET ACTIVE THIS SUMMER!

When you get into Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), you will learn how to use your elbows and knees throughout your training. You will need to develop speed and force, as well as flexibility. Each session takes place at the Roswell Recreation & Aquatic Center and is three weeks long. Class requires head gear, mouth piece and gloves (not included).

There are 32 parks and outdoor recreation facilities, as well as several walking trails, to enjoy in Roswell.

Planetarium Shows

The Robert H. Goddard Planetarium is home to a state-of-the-art, full-dome digital theater system. Planetarium shows are presented Tuesday through Saturday at 1, 3 and 5 pm and a Friday 7 pm show. Each show includes a full-dome film accompanied by a star presentation. Programs last approximately 45 minutes. Check website for show details.

From Bartók to Webern: Classical and Experimental Music of the 1930s and 1940s with the Giovanni String Quartet

The Roswell Symphony Orchestra in partnership with the Roswell Museum and the RMAC Foundation present the Giovanni String Quartet of Albuquerque for an after-hours performance in the museum’s original 1937 Founders Gallery. The evening will honor the museum’s 85th anniversary year and the Roswell UFO Incident with compositions drawn from the 1930s and 1940s featuring innovative composers Hungarian Béla Bartók and Viennese Modernists Alban Berg, Arnold Shoenberg and Anton von Webern, among others. Enjoy a selection of locally-made desserts during intermission, included with your ticket. A wine and beer cash bar will be available pre-show through intermission.

Want to design, build and fly your very own model rocket? You can in this introduction to the exciting world of rocketry! See and learn how mathematics explains the world of rockets and aero-science through simple lessons in physics and rocket flight. Learn the laws of rocket stability and aerodynamics. Best of all, you will actually build and launch your own vehicle at the end of the course to show your family and friends what you learned. Model rocketry, a super fun, crowd-pleasing STEM activity, is safe and a widespread hobby that has been credited as a significant source of inspiration for children who eventually become scientists and engineers.
