8th grader students coming into high school as freshmen are likely to be anxious for the incoming opportunities presented to them. There are plenty of freshmen that feel like they are coming into high school without any idea of what to do, or where to start, so our Ross High School seniors of 2024 will be guiding the freshman with their advice.
An RHS senior with great advice to give, Colby Adams, expressed that freshmen should stay “locked in”, or in other words; Stay focused It’s always important to stay on track when starting off as a freshman If you stop focusing on your grades and school work entirely, it can only damage your high school experience Keeping a strong focus on the assignments that are given to you can only set you up for success, if you don’t start off your first year of high school with determination and a fixed mindset then gaining credits near the end of your high school years will be a very difficult thing to do
Senior Myah Boze says, “You should always try to get involved and have fun!” This is great advice for freshmen that feel stuck inside of their social bubbles It’s always best to explore and find yourself during your high school years, because you won’t be able to do much exploring to find out who you are inside once you begin your adult life
RHS senior Samuel Davidson stated, “Freshmen should start off working hard, and they should avoid slacking off.” Many freshmen decide it’s best to not put full effort into the work that they do, not truly realizing how much it will negatively affect them in the future. Everyone should always try their best on the assignments given to them. Doing this can only benefit you, due to the fact that many jobs look at your academic record, and that job will usually want to see if you’ve graduated. You can’t graduate if you just do half of the work, it’s always all or nothing.
Another RHS senior, Hallie Holcomb, stated, “As a freshman, you should take advantage of the CCP classes.” Freshman often find themselves traveling through high school without taking the beneficial courses that are offered to them throughout high school. Neglecting the opportunities that benefit you can only hurt your academic record, so it’s always important to try to start off strong when first introduced to high school.
2024 RHS senior, Curtis Brockman states, “Avoid purposely skipping school, and classes.” This is often a problem for freshmen. A lot of people shut down when introduced to an environment that applies pressure pushing them to be their best. They often find themselves avoiding that pressure, not realizing how much avoiding it can only damage them in the long run
RHS senior Matthew Roach says, “You should make the most of the time you have while you have it.” In other words, be sure to not waste any time. High school may seem to go by very slowly, but by the end of the year a large majority of students will realize how fast time went by. It’s always best to finish doing your schoolwork as soon as you can, so that you don’t have to keep postponing your assignments or projects. When you start out as a freshman in high school it can be very overwhelming, and piles of missing assignments definitely won’t allow you to have any free time without consequence.
As the 2024 seniors of Ross High School venture out into the real world and continue to learn and grow, the staff and teachers wish luck to all. Remember to stay focused, be confident, and never give up on the things you want in life.

Trends can separate people from a crowd or make people look similar to everyone else. The good thing about them is they are always changing and giving older styles a chance to shine. Trends don’t define people; Nobody should be forced to follow them, as their differences are what make them beautiful.
Ross High School seniors have been through many trends since freshman year. Some are good while others shouldn’t be popular. Freshman year for the class of 2024 happened during Covid so there are some trends from the 8th grade also. From 2019 to 2024 there have been decent changes to what is socially acceptable.

THE GREAT ROSS MIGRATION
Some of our seniors will be leaving the Ross area for multiple reasons, including college and work, or they might even need time away from their hometown Most seniors will continue their academic journey into college. This year, seniors will travel all over the United States to attend the college of their choice. Most are staying in Ohio, with some are going to West Virginia, Kentucky, and Michigan. Our senior travelling the farthest, Kenzie Cunningham, will be attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology

GROWING UP
“ONE OF THE BEST THINGS ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL WAS DEFINITELY THE FRIENDSHIPS I MADE. WE WERE ALWAYS THERE FOR EACH OTHER THROUGH THE GOOD TIMES AND THE TOUGH TIMES WE CREATED SO MANY INCREDIBLE MEMORIES TOGETHER THAT I’LL CHERISH FOREVER ”
“HAVING FUN WITH MY FRIENDS IN AG CLASS ”
“ONE GOOD THING FROM MY YEARS IN HIGH SCHOOL IS WRESTLING.”
“ONE OF MY FAVORITE HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIES HAS TO BE FIRST BLOCK GYM FRESHMAN YEAR I WAS DREADING THAT CLASS, BUT EVERYONE IN THERE MADE IT FUN NOT TO MENTION, I MET LAYLA, ONE OF MY CURRENT BEST FRIENDS, IN THERE ONE TIME IN PARTICULAR, WE WERE ALL PLAYING FLAG FOOTBALL AND SHE WAS SO EXCITED THAT SHE CAUGHT THE BALL FOR OUR TEAM AND RAN AS FAST AS SHE COULD DOWN THE FIELD IN HOPES TO GET A TOUCHDOWN. EVEN THOUGH NO ONE WAS CHASING HER, IT WASN’T UNTIL SHE WAS IN THE END ZONE THAT SHE REALIZED SHE RAN THE WRONG WAY IT DEFINITELY GAVE US ALL A GOOD LAUGH.”

“I MISSED THE FIRST SEMESTER OF MY FRESHMAN YEAR BECAUSE OF COVID.”
“HAVING TO WEAR MASKS AND HYBRID LEARNING MY FRESHMAN YEAR ”
Ross High School, Class of 2024 is graduating very soon. There are some things they might want to know about their last year of high school and how it affects them mentally.
Growing up is unavoidable, but it happens to every living thing on the planet. Many people have different perspectives of growing up. Some people may see it as positive part of life, and others think differently
Being a senior in high school is a really big step in life. It is such a crazy thought to know that after graduation, you will no longer have to wake up every day and go to school. Depending on if you’re going to college or not, you may not have to wake up for school ever again.
So many changes can happen after graduating high school. You are now an adult. Going from an elementary school student to a senior in high school carries so much experience and change in between all of it. You learn so much about yourself as well as others around you.
According to College Data, being a senior in high school can be one of the most overwhelming years of a student’s life. College data said, “If you’re a high school senior, you’re likely to be well acquainted with stress.” There are so many things to deal with senior year and it can add up. Some examples include applying for college, responsibilities, college tuition, school work, sports, adulthood, and jobs
When students grow up, and see the differences between all the years in school, it can be emotional and exciting at the same time. Students should be proud of themselves for coming this far.

THE SENIOR SCOOP
As high school comes to an end, memories of laughter, jokes, essay deadlines, proms, and football games fade. A sense of nostalgia fills the air, with the class of 2024 being a prime example.
Graduating is the end of an era. After spending four years of your life in high school, you have now matured, turned 18, and are ready to do “adult things”. Most people after high school, go to college and some take a different route. Successfully making it through all these years of schooling is a huge accomplishment, especially ending your last year with senioritis.
RHS Senior, Ava O’Connell shared, “The high school experience for me was really good I made a lot of my good friends throughout high school. Also playing volleyball throughout high school really helped me make friends that I probably wouldn’t have had if I didn’t play.”
As many students say they made a lot of good friends throughout high school, they’ve also lost some. Playing sports in high school can be very overwhelming to participate in and prove you can balance it out with your schoolwork. Ava has always been told to be a “student-athlete”, showing that the student comes before the athlete. Participating in a sport in high school can better you, teach you new things, and pave your path to college. Data from scholarshipstats.com shows that a little over 7% of high school athletes go on to play a sport in college.
RHS Senior, Ryleigh Meadows said, “My biggest fear of going into the “real world” would definitely be meeting new people. It’s exciting knowing that you get to have a fresh start, but also knowing the people you have grown up with every day for the past 12 years won’t be with you anymore.”
All past and present students can agree that adulthood sounds exciting because of the freedom you now have, but also scary because of how you’re on your own and starting a new beginning. For some going to college and staying on campus, they will very often be able to come back home, which is hard for most.
RHS Senior, Ella Lynch says, “My advice would be to find and surround yourself with real friends. And to do your best in school because it will pay off when trying to get scholarships for college.”
As high school goes by so quickly, it can be very easy to forget about your grades, and staying on top of your assignments. Make sure to prioritize your time on the important things and not forget that adulthood is exciting but scary, requiring friendships and securing scholarships.

SENIOR MEMES
The Class of 2024 owes thanks to many types of media for contributing to their humor and socialization over the years. One type they owe a huge thanks to is memes. Meme formats, like many trends, come and go but the media has remained intact throughout the majority of students’ childhoods. Some examples include the Kanye point, POV memes or the Stonks Man.
When asked to define what memes are Frankie LaValle (‘26) said, “Something or some way to make others laugh with your thoughts and ideas.” To Frankie, memes are a way to express yourself and entertain others. This is a common and shared experience for many students across Ross High School. Whether it’s a way to receive world news, a joke or just a random fact, memes are a way of communicating amongst young people, especially in Gen Z culture.
This year’s seniors have been through some serious obstacles. The Class of 2024 started their high school careers amidst a global pandemic (yes, the COVID shutdown was four years ago. Oh how time flies.) They also probably had the strangest freshman year Ross High School has ever seen. Despite the rocky start, the years of getting back to normalcy have left new and old traditions and opportunities thankfully available to the hard-working class. Matthew Roach (‘24) says the past four years have been, “Chaotic and stressful. But, they were filled with memories that will last a lifetime. I wouldn’t be the same person I am today without the last four years.”
In honor of the Class of 2024, multiple students across all grade levels sent in memes to honor and recognize the high school experiences the seniors will remember forever. Whether the memes are about the outrageous amount of homework, the busy schedules, or the heightened stress; the Class of 2024 can look back and laugh at their humor and experiences for years to come. You can view the wonderful submissions around this page.

SCHOOL RIVALRIES
Seniors make many memories throughout high school. School rivalries play a big part in those memories Ross High School has a ‘HERD’ and this group has its leaders. A few of the senior ‘HERD’ leaders Austin Parker, Maddie Davis, and Jaice Neumaier were asked about the experience during those rival games
RHS recently switched its league to the Southwestern Buckeye League (SWBL) but that doesn’t stop the rivalry that was going in the Southwest Ohio Conference (SWOC) with Edgewood. RHS senior, Austin Parker was asked who he thinks Ross has the biggest rival with and he stated, “The biggest rival would 100% be Edgewood just because of the conference beef, usually when we play the reporters are all out and a bunch of cameras are capturing everything.” This shows how much a school rivalry can affect not just the school, but the overall community
Some students may take the rivalry too far in the moment of events They have bad relationships with the other schools students and take it personally. RHS senior, Maddie Davis was questioned about how rivalries affect the way the schools engage outside of sporting events. She explained, “I think that the personal aspects of other players can carry on with players, not only from our school but from others as well.” This can affect the players who compete and may even determine how they play because they can get focused on how much they dislike the other school.
BABY GUESS WHO
Another way school rivalries can affect students is the feelings of the games and what they can give off when playing a rival school RHS senior, Jaice Neumaier was asked if rivalry games give off a special feeling to the day or night of the game, she stated, “I think the game gives feelings from day and night. I think that because it is a very sensitive game and a very hype game as f,

As we near the end of the year, seniors are attending school less and less. Since seniors have gotten into colleges they feel as though the pressure is “off”. These students are spending less time in school because of “senioritis” and no longer feeling like school is important.
“Senioritis” is the term referring to the “affliction of students in their final year of high school or college, characterized by a decline in motivation or performance” (Dictionary.com).
“Senioritis” used to have a positive connotation for students. It meant coasting through their last semester in high school in anticipation of college entry in the fall. Today that mood has shifted. Many students and their parents have been driven to believe that high school is merely a four-year audition for the right college.
Senior year can be one of the most stressful times in a student’s life, especially for those applying to college. In addition to juggling school work, family responsibilities, social relationships, jobs, and extracurricular activities, many high school seniors are also navigating the unfamiliar and highly competitive college admissions landscape, figuring out how to finance their education, and making big decisions about their future.
A senior at RHS, Ariam Sauerland, was asked how she thinks senior year should be spent. She states, “I'm a very firm believer in continuing to work senior year, even if you have the required credits to graduate. However, it's important to have a relaxing year too. Seniors are about to enter adulthood and that is stressful enough in itself. We should have a celebratory, stress-free year (as long as your transcript can cash that check.)” Ariam Sauerland claims that she believes seniors should have a less stressful year than the other classes because of the stress coming from the new chapter of their lives.
Although, senior year is nearing its end, as Sauerland explained, it’s important to keep working hard to finish senior year with the best grades possible. Keep working hard Rams and finish strong!

Over the past couple decades, college tuition has gone up drastically, increasing the needs for families to have a financial plan to cover college tuition.
Should parents pay for college? Some families split the cost while others expect students to pay for the total sum of their college expenses. Every family has a different financial status. Some parents are able to afford to pay for college and some are not able to contribute, leaving incoming freshman to figure it out for themselves.
The average cost of college in the United States is $36,436 per student per year, including books, supplies, and daily living expenses. With financial aid and scholarships, these prices can change. But, college tuition rates are climbing at an astronomical amount and most kids will not be able to afford that high of fees. The bottom line is most students, particularly those fresh out of high school, don’t have enough money to afford higher education on their own.
Many families start putting money into a bank account when the child is born to start saving every year until they graduate and head off to college. This is extremely beneficial if families cant afford to pay for a large sum at once. Even contributing $100 to a savings account every month for 18 years can add up to a solid amount making it easier to begin paying for college tuition.
So, should parents pay for college? The answer isn’t necessarily “yes” or “no”, it is somewhere in the middle. Incoming college students may not feel they are ready to cover the cost of college on their own, which is why students need to discuss a financial plan prior to starting school. Its safe to say that the answer is different for every family so students should talk to their parents about future plans.

WHY DO STUDENTS GRADUATE EARLY?
According to US News, 87% of people in Ohio complete high school, while others do not. To finish school in three years takes a lot of hard work and an idea of what the student wants to be by the time their 16. People tend to graduate early because they feel that school isn’t for them or want to get a head start in the workforce.
RHS Junior graduate Jonah Klenk was asked why people graduate early, he stated,“I knew college wasn’t for me so there was no point in staying.”
RHS Junior early graduate Kayla Voss had a different reason for graduating early, Voss stated,“I chose to graduate early because although Ross has given me a lot of opportunities I will be attending Hobart Institute of Welding Technology and so I wanted to get a head start by getting all my certification by the time I’m 17 ”
When someone does graduate early they get a lot of benefits, Voss stated,“Some benefits of graduating early is a lot of people will look at your transcript and see you only took three years instead of four years to complete high school, and they know you have a good work ethic and you ' re willing to work hard to achieve what you want to do ” If someone does graduate early then jobs and schools will be more willing to accept them because of their work ethic.
With all these benefits there are still a lot of negatives to graduating early Klenk stated,“Some negatives are if I do decide to go to college then I would be off a year which would take some time to adjust back to school.” Some other negatives would be the students have a year less of high school experience, which means fewer football games, school dances, and graduating with a class above the students.
For some people graduating high school early is the perfect choice to make their future easier to achieve, for others it's a way to get away from school There are good and bad choices to come down the road but the

Dorm Room Essentials
For those of you going off to college in the near future, there will be so much to do before you leave home. You need to attend orientation, schedule classes, learn how to do laundry and cook for yourself. If you’re living on campus, one of the most important thing you need to do is get your dorm room essentials.
Most dorm rooms are not generously spacious, so you can’t afford to waste space on shiny decorations and props that you don’t need. Listed below are some of the absolute essentials for your dorm room.
1. Bedding
Most colleges give students a bed frame (sometimes a bunk bed) with a stone-firm, cold mattress. Bring your own bedding, pillows and any padding you need to get a good night’s sleep. Don’t forget that if you remain in a climate with cold winters, you’ll need a lot of blankets once it gets colder.
2. Laundry Essentials
Once you’ve learned how to do your laundry, you’re going to have to up with it. Bring a laundry basket or bag, detergent and (if you want to splurge) fabric softener sheets for the dryer.
3. Shower and Hygiene Essentials
If you haven’t learned how important personal hygiene is by now, don’t lose hope Make sure to bring deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo and (if you so desire) conditioner, body/face wash (with some kind of loofah, washcloth or brush), towels, and shower shoes You do not want to be the freshman who catches foot fungus
4. Storage
You’re going to have a lot of clothes, shoes, papers and other essentials that won’t be able to just sit out in the open (and the given dorm storage like closets are tiny and you usually have to share with your roommate ) Bring storage bins and bags that will fit under your bed and perhaps invest in those multi-level hangers for your clothes that need hung up. Miss Resseguie, a 2023 UC graduate highly recommends these hangers as a way to conserve the limited space you are given (You can easily find all of these things on Amazon for reasonable prices )
5. Trash Can and Trash Bags
Do not rely on the mesh trash can the college provides and a single grocery bag We all know students have more trash than that and no time to constantly empty it. Get a solid, medium-sized can and a box of trash bags.
6. Cleaning Supplies
For those of you who still don’t know what personal hygiene is, your roommate should fear your cleanliness habits. Bring Clorox wipes, paper towels, a mini vacuum, and a duster to keep things clean and promote a healthy dorm where germs can come to die Please use these items frequently to save yourself a headache when you realize even you can’t live in the sty you’ve created. Miss Resseguie shares her expertise in the area as she states, “My number one essential was a mini vacuum cleaner because no one is coming to clean your room and the floor gets messy very quickly. I also had a steamer, that was very helpful ”
7. Extension Cords
You are going to have a lamp, phone charger, watch charger, laptop charger and/or sound machine all needing to fit in the singular outlet next to your bed Go to Amazon or Target and invest in an extension cord with multiple outlets
8. Decorations and Pictures
Yeah, the room is small and cramped, but don’t forget that you’re not in prison and your room shouldn’t feel like a cell Throw some posters on the wall, picture frames on the desk or on the wall, and hang some LEDs or fairy lights from the ceiling. You can get the cute bed comforter and pillow. That zebra rug you’ve been looking at might just save your feet from the hard floor This room will be your home for an entire year, make it feel like a home Just don’t go overboard and waste space, as Miss Resseguie warns, “...you do not need to bring a lot of throw pillows.”
Well students, good luck moving into your dorm! And for those of you who are still living at home, do your best to look after yourself there too. You’re an adult now and, if you haven’t already, it’s time to learn how to be one.

RHS Senior Ariam Sauerland expressed that her favorite TV show is Supernatural. When she was asked why she views this series as her favorite, she stated, “The show tells such a great story It expresses morals and contains entertaining horror all together!” Sauerland also explained that this show has taught her about family She used a quote from the show to describe what she learned, “Family doesn’t end with blood, and it sure as hell doesn’t start with it.” - Bobby Singer.
RHS Senior Jonathon Woedl explained that his favorite TV show is The Office. After thinking of a reason why it’s his favorite, he stated, “It’s hilarious, all of the characters play different roles and each are very unique.” Woedl, unfortunately, doesn’t think the show has taught him very much, but there’s no doubt that he does find The Office entertaining to watch.
The RHS Class of 2024 have had a nice taste in TV shows throughout their lives, specifically during their high school experience. Now that they are graduating, we hope they continue to expand their horizons and discover more media that they love

I was once that person, so I would love to help people going through the same thing. I have decided to pursue Dental to help other people.”
“I always wanted to be a fashion designer when I was younger, I am now going to attend NKU to get my bachelor's in Elementary Education.”

ROSS SENIOR FAVORITE MOVIES
Over the years, movies have evolved in ways that are negative, but there are also many positive effects to watching them The Class of 2024 Seniors at RHS enjoy many favorite movies they loved watching as they’ve grown up into who they are today. These movies shaped them in many ways and have made them smarter, and who they are today
RHS early graduating Junior Isabella Huntsberry was asked what her favorite movie was, she stated, “The Sandlot.”
Huntsberry stated, “I love the motivation that is hidden throughout the movie and how dedicated they are to helping Smalls get his ball back ”
She was asked if this movie taught her anything and if she has learned anything from it, She stated, “Yes to always help others who are seeking it, and to not take things that don't belong to you just in case of what could happen to it ”
When asked what her favorite movie was, RHS Senior Heidi Jaspers stated her favorite movie is, “Stand By Me ” Jaspers was also asked why this is her favorite movie? Jaspers stated, “It’s interesting and I always thought Chris Chambers was a cutie when I was younger.” This movie has taught Jaspers that “Adventures are cool ”
RHS Senior Ariam Sauerland was also asked what her favorite movie was and she stated “The Boy.” This is Sauerland’s favorite movie because, “The guy who played Brahms was amazing and the horror elements were so well done ”
Sauerland stated, “If the first movie does well, it doesn’t always mean there should be a sequel. The Boy 2 was really bad and ruined the story the first one set up.”
The Seniors and early graduates have formed sharp minds as they have gone through the years of high school From watching the movies To Kill a Mockingbird, The Crucible, and Megamind. Movies can teach everyone important life lessons and shape graduates into who they are today, there are so many more experiences and fun things to try down the road.

SENIOR FAVORITES
The murals art class run by RHS allows students to put up large or small artwork on the walls around the building. The course was voted as a favorite class from the class of 2024 seniors. Each mural that is being produced and painted has a different amount of students working on it. One of the murals seniors stated,”It is just a time away from class to relax and leave a mark in the school before I leave.” This isn't the only student that has labeled this class their favorite. Painting murals gives seniors a way to leave a mark on the school forever.
Yearbook was also voted as a favorite class by seniors. The yearbook class allows students to create and be a part of RHS history. Senior Baylee Jenkins stated,”Yearbook, because I enjoy capturing the special moments that we share together as a student body.”
Seniors voted for their favorite sports this year. RHS seniors voted football as their class favorite. Football is a lively sport to watch and our RHS family loves to watch the Rams take down other teams. The football team at RHS is a family and creates a fun environment. The HERD is the student section at football games where students can cheer on the Rams and is a crucial part of the “Friday Night Lights” experience. One of the seniors stated, ”I love the atmosphere the HERD creates.”
A student’s beverage of choice can be important to the school experience. A fun or caffeinated drink allows students to stay awake or cure the thirst that generates from learning. Seniors voted they would bring an energy drink to school rather than coffee, water, or a sports drink. Energy drinks keep the seniors awake during the early hours of the school day.
Over the course of a year, the RHS building allows a few breaks for students and staff. This includes fall break, winter break, and spring break. These are breaks that students count down the days to. The seniors voted spring break as their favorite break through a landslide vote. Naturally, the amazing spring weather may have swayed the students opinions this year.

“Congratulations seniors. Your class was so special, I am expecting great things from you and am so proud of you and all your accomplishments Always remember what I taught you Budget (plan) for success Live below your means, save and invest so you can retire early! Mrs. Gardner:
Dear RAMFAM, Congratulations! I wish you all the best as you begin a new chapter in your journeys.
Mrs. Brossart:
Hey Rambell!!! I am so proud of you all. In all my years at Ross, you are the first Rambell I was privileged enough to have for all four years! I am so excited to see you all walk across that stage. Whether you ' re in the building all day now, are all off-campus, or are succeeding at Butler Tech, you have all found your pathway to success through Ross High School. From kickball, Olympics, Easter egg hunts, student teachers, and three different classrooms, you ' ve helped me make memories along the way and I am grateful for that. Go be your best in all you do.
Mr. Vesoulis:
As we bid farewell to this chapter of your journey, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for each of you. Wishing you all the best, today and always. With heartfelt gratitude.
Mr Wilhelm:
Dear Rambell,
What a ride we have had! To be voted #1 Rambell four years in a row is quite an accomplishment and it will not be repeated for years to come I am sure the rest of the Rambells are jealous of our camaraderie and true friendship that we have all developed with each other The trips to the Reds and Bengals games probably made them even more envious Mrs Hamblin told me that she truly appreciates the mentorship that our Rambell gave to her and her Rambell She told me that it was amazing that such a diverse group of personalities with a wide variety of interests could come together and be as supportive and fun with each other I agree It has been great watching you all grow as students and people and I look forward to seeing how you impact our world in the future By the way, you all owe me $29 42 for all of the doughnuts over the years! Best Wishes
Mrs Rudolph:
Hey Rudolph RamBell-er's!!
