Man (60s) killed in Ballinasloe crash

A man in his 60s has died and one other person was injured following a three-car collision in Ballinasloe on Sunday evening.

The crash happened at the Ashtree Junction in the town at approximately 6.30 pm.

The man, who was a driver of one the vehicles, was taken to Portiuncula Hospital where he has since passed away. One other person was taken to hospital as a precaution. There were no other inju- ries reported. The road remained closed overnight on Sunday as a forensic investigation took place. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, in particular any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling in the Ashtree Junction and Station Road areas of Ballinasloe between 6 pm and 6.45 pm on Sunday.
