Who We Are Looking For
• Graduates with an excellent academic track record including a 2:1 degree in a discipline related to the subject they are applying to teach
• Dynamic future teachers wishing to get straight into teaching in the classroom
• Ambitious, energetic individuals who want an immersive experience of education and life in a thriving boarding school
WHAT WILL MY WEEK LOOK LIKE?
• You will be allocated a 60 - 70% timetable as a trainee and an 85 - 90% timetable as an ECT
• You can expect a timetable that ensures a variety of classroom experiences and learning opportunities
• You will be allocated a subject mentor who will support you inside and outside the classroom
• All trainees and ECT’s also benefit from mentoring by a member of SLT dedicated to ensuring the best possible early professional experience
• You will benefit from the highly personalised Rossall CPD programme that includes regular sessions dedicated to those at the outset of their careers, as well as workshops and training on a diverse range of topics within pedagogy and safeguarding. Our unique Leadership Academy will provide you with another strand of professional development in the areas of educational leadership
• You will have the chance to get involved in and contribute to our rich activities programme - sport, drama, music, Duke of Edinburgh, CCF - with plenty of opportunities for personal development and access to courses and qualifications
• You will undertake duties associated with being a teacher at a boarding school
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END OF MY TRAINING YEAR?
• Your progress is reviewed throughout your time on the programme
• For those who join us as trainees, there will be the opportunity to continue on to the Early Careers programme as an ECT
• All ECTs undergo the statutory induction overseen by ISTIP
