A BOARDING HOME SINCE 1844: NINE HOUSES, ONE FAMILY
BOARDING LIFE Rossall has welcomed boarders since 1844, and today that heritage shows up as something simple: a genuine sense of belonging. Spread across nine boarding houses – eight for seniors (three girls’, five boys’) plus Anchor, the dedicated Junior Boarding House for ages 9 to 14 – boarding at Rossall is thoroughly modern, with campus-wide Wi-Fi, comfortable communal areas and carefully appointed study bedrooms alongside the family atmosphere each house is built around.
9 boarding houses For ages 9-18 Flexible options: full, weekly and flexi boarding to suit every family Weekend Trips programme spanning the Lake District to Edinburgh, London, Oxford and Cambridge On-site Medical & Wellbeing Centre Transport connections: 60 minutes from Manchester Airport
Every family’s circumstances are different, so boarding doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing choice. A Day Plus option gives students the chance to benefit from early morning and late evenings on campus among the boarding community. Alongside full boarding, Rossall offers weekly and flexi boarding, letting day pupils board part-time to take fuller part in school life. Beyond the houses themselves, an extensive weekend trips programme takes boarders from kayaking and gorge walking in the Lake District to overnight visits to Edinburgh, London, Oxford and Cambridge. Houseparents, Deputy Houseparents, tutors, student House Captains and Monitors ensure every boarder is known as an individual, while interhouse competitions build the kind of loyalty and friendship boarders describe as being part of “a big family.”
