Option School, In-District Transfer & Open Enrollment Lottery Families can apply to attend a Roseville school other than their neighborhood school. Families who have older students already in the school receive preference but still must apply. Please reach out to Central Enrollment for the appropriate form. Make appointments to tour schools you’re interested in and for Early Childhood Screening.

Enrollment Mailing & Reply Card Families will receive a mailing with information about their neighborhood school. Please return the reply card or reply via the online link provided in the mailing. This helps us best understand your current intentions for where you plan to send your child to kindergarten.

Neighborhood School, Option School, In-District Transfer & Open Enrollment Mailing Enrollment instructions, as well as lottery status letters with next steps, will be mailed to families.

Screening

What is Early Childhood Screening?

Early Childhood Screening is a free, simple way to check how your child is growing, developing, and learning! During the screening, your child will complete a variety of activities. These activities will check their vision, hearing, height, weight, communication skills, cognitive skills, motor skills, and social and emotional development.

When Should I Have My Child Screened? Screening is required as part of Pre-K and Kindergarten enrollment in Minnesota. We recommend that children be screened at age 3. Getting screened at age 3 allows us to identify any additional resources and support that your child may benefit from before starting school. This screening can help you link to other learning opportunities such as preschool, Early Childhood Family Education, MN Early Learning Scholarships, Head Start, home visiting, and Early Childhood Special Education.

Immunizations

According to the Minnesota Department of Health, immunizations, vaccinations, or shots are one of the best weapons we have against a number of serious diseases. The following immunizations are required for kindergarten:  Hepatitis B (3 doses)  DTaP/DT (5 doses with last dose after age 4)  Polio (4 doses with last dose after age 4)  MMR (2 doses)  Varicella (2 doses, or doctor signature confirming history of chickenpox) Families must either provide documentation of their student’s completion of the above immunizations, file medical exemption signed by a health care provider, or file a non-medical exemption signed by a parent/guardian and notarized.

Friendship

Connection

Friendship Connection is a school-age childcare program offered at Roseville Area Schools that provides care before school, after school, and during summer. We are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to the start of the school day, and from the end of the school day to 6:00 p.m. Friendship Connection meets children’s developmental needs through fun and engaging activities, including art, music, science, sports, cooking, language arts, reading, technology, and more. Because every child is unique, we work with families to create a place where each child can reach their full potential.

Locations

Friendship Connection is offered at all elementary schools in Roseville! Children enrolling for the school year program must register for the Friendship Connection site at the school they attend.

Transportation

Parents are responsible for their child’s transportation to and from Friendship Connection.

Non-School Days & Summer Care

Childcare is provided on non-school days and during the summer months, with the exception of major holidays. Families must pre-register for non-school days.

All Friendship Connection sites are closed for two weeks at the end of summer. During that time, families will need to make other childcare arrangements.

Fees

Affordable, quality childcare is one of our top priorities. Friendship Connection is funded solely from tuition fees. If you have questions about financial assistance, please contact us at 651.604.3505.

How to Register

Registration for both summer and school year sessions begins in March. Summer registration is open to all members of the community. Students enrolled in Roseville Area Schools can attend before- and after-school care during the school year session. Transportation

School transportation is provided for elementary students within attendance areas and for secondary students residing two miles or more from school. The district mails bus information to bus riders in August. Secondary students living less than two miles from school may purchase transportation for their student at a cost of about $200 per year. Parents wishing to contract for this service may obtain the documents at www.isd623.org > Services > Transportation. Parents/guardians should make sure their child’s bus schedule information is correct, including day care information if available. If you have questions or comments, please call 651-635-1638.

NUTRITION SERVICES Roseville Area Schools Nutrition Services aims to serve the next generation food with integrity to ensure our community is nourished. We look forward to serving your students this school year!

Online Menus

Our mission is to enhance learning by advancing the quality of meals at school created by knowledgeable, caring staff and to empower students to make life-long healthy choices.

All of our menus are available online and also at LINQConnect.com. With our online menus, you can: • Find menu pictures and nutritional information • Filter menu for specific allergens • Access carbohydrate counts Menus can also be accessed from tablets or smartphones using the LINQ Connect app.

Free Meals Available to All Students All students will have access to a complete breakfast, lunch and afterschool super snack at no cost. Extra food beyond the meal, like an additional entree, an extra milk, only a milk, or a second meal, must be purchased with money in your student’s account. As in previous years, students will use PINs to account for their meals and purchases. Please practice with your child before coming to school! There is a practice PIN pad on the Nutrition Services webpage. This will help expedite service lines and maximize seated eating times for meals. If you do not know your student’s school ID, please email food@isd623.org or contact the main office at your child’s school.

What’s in a Meal? Breakfast consists of an entrée with whole grains, lean protein, fruit, milk, and 100% juice. Students have a choice of at least two options for lunch at each site. Along with the entrée, an “all-youcare-to-eat” fruits and veggie bars, and milk choices are offered. There is always a vegetarian option.

Better Food Initiative Our district is part of a national movement to elevate the quality of all ingredients served on our menus. In collaboration with school nutrition leaders and the Center of Science in the Public Interest, we follow the Ingredient Guide for Better School Food Purchasing when selecting ingredients or products to place on the menu. We have already started to eliminate ingredients such as artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. You can learn more at https://ingredientguide.org/.

Special Diets Did you know we accommodate medically necessary diet requests? A licensed medical professional must complete the Special Diet Form found on our website.
