LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land, and continue to do so today. Brampton’s performing arts venues are located on the Treaty Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and the traditional territories of the Anishinabek; Wendat; Haudenosaunee; and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples. We acknowledge that Brampton resides within Treaty 19, referred to as the Ajetance Purchase. We recognize the enduring presence of Indigenous peoples on this land, and the many First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and other global Indigenous people that call Brampton home. We are grateful to continue telling stories on, and about, this land, and by doing so, honour and respect its first inhabitants. We are committed to implementing responses to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action, and recognize our shared responsibility to address ongoing injustices.

Grab a chair and a blanket, pack a picnic, and pick the park nearest you to settle in and enjoy this comedic battle of the sexes.

In this version, Noblewoman Bethany has two sons, Nathaniel and Benjamin; one nasty and one sweet. Nasty Nathaniel is married off to Penelope, a clever woman who uses some questionable tactics to tame this feisty man into becoming the “perfect husband”. Join us in the park for a lot of laughs and a tongue-in-cheek commentary on gender norms.

CLASSIC ALBUMS LIVE SUPERTRAMP’S CRIME OF THE CENTURY

OCTOBER 18, 2024 / 8:00PM

This album was everywhere – in car stereos, parking lots, and basement parties. At one point, it was even speculated that Supertramp was Canadian, given their immense popularity there before the States. The album itself is a sonic masterpiece, seamlessly continuing where The Beatles left off musically, and matching Dylan in lyrical prowess. Its subtleties pose a challenge, like an invisible velvet rope; if you know, you know. Stepping into the ambiance of the early 70s, this album epitomizes that era. There’s a reason why cover bands rarely attempt their music— it’s complex. But the amazing musicians of Classic Albums Live have mastered it, note for note. Anything less would be a disservice.

NOVEMBER 9, 2024 / 8:00PM

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SERIAL KILLERS features a touring masterclass, diving deep into the darkest and most thought-provoking of subjects. Who are these notorious killers? How does an ordinary neighbour become a mass murderer?

During this thrilling experience, Dr. Rachel Toles, true crime’s preeminent Psychologist, seeks to help us understand these burning questions:

What makes a serial killer?

Why do they commit such horrific crimes?

What drives them to murder?

Do they share common traits that trigger mass-killings?

What motivates them to kill over and over again?

How do they choose their victims? Is it random or something more sinister?

Why do some women fall in love with these convicted killers?

And perhaps the most important question of all … why are we so fascinated by serial killers and true crime?

You will also get the chance to ask anything you have ever wanted to know about serial killers in a live Q & A session with Dr. Toles.

CANADA’S BALLET JÖRGEN COMBINES RESPECT FOR TRADITION WITH A CANNY EYE FOR WHAT WILL MAKE ITS PRODUCTIONS DISTINCT.

– MICHAEL CRABB, THE TORONTO STAR

THE NUTCRACKER BALLET JÖRGEN

DECEMBER 17, 2024 / 7:00PM

The traditional story of Klara’s magical dream adventure with her nutcracker prince, with a decidedly Canadian twist. THE NUTCRACKER is a holiday favourite that brings Tchaikovsky’s well-loved score home for the holidays.

Created by acclaimed choreographer Bengt Jörgen in collaboration with the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, the production is a unique fusion of ballet and classical music, on a backdrop of iconic Canadian paintings. 20th Century landscapes make up the stunning 30-ft. backdrops, including Franklin Carmichael’s Church and Houses at Bisset (1931), Tom Thompson’s Snow in the Woods (1916), and L.L. Fitzgerald’s Trees and Wildflowers (1922). A visually stunning adventure for the whole family!
