CarFit* Wednesday, September 21, 1-4pm Erickson Park, 14115 Brazil Ave. Register By: Wednesday, September 14 Cost: FREE! CarFit is a community educational program through AAA, AARP and AOTA (American Occupational Therapy Association) that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles “fit” them. At a CarFit event, a team of trained technicians and/or health professionals work with each participant to ensure they “fit” their vehicle properly for maximum comfort and safety, looking at things such as placement of seat, seat belt, wheel, head restraint, mirrors and more. A CarFit check takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Please select an appointment time while registering.
Documentary Discussion Group Wednesday, September 14, 1:00 – 3:00pm Steeple Center, Room 202 Cost: FREE! Join us at the Steeple Center for a viewing of “A Most Beautiful Thing”. A Most Beautiful Thing is a 2020 documentary film chronicling the history of the first US African American public high school rowing team, composed of young men from the West Side of Chicago, many of whom were in rival gangs. Conversation to discuss the subject matter of the documentary will follow immediately after the screening.
Driver Improvement Course 8-Hour Program*
Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29 5:30—9:30pm Register By: September 22 Cost: $28 Steeple Center, Room 200 Drivers over 55 are eligible to receive a 10% discount on their auto insurance upon completion of this program. This 8-hour program offers a learning experience for participants by providing instruction from a certified professional who uses the most up-to-date research in the field. Topics covered include but are not limited to: visual scanning techniques, steering techniques, antilock brake systems, airbag safety and new vehicle technology. *Requires pre-registration.
