“Triple Espresso” at Plymouth Playhouse*

Thursday, July 25

Registration Deadline: Monday, June 3

Cost - $94/person

Bus leaves Community Center at 11:30am and returns at approximately 5:00pm

Enjoy a wonderful Luncheon Pasta Buffet at the Ramada by Wyndham Hotel and Conference Center before moving into the Plymouth Playhouse Theater on the lower level of the hotel for a performance of “Triple Espresso”. It tells the story of three guys whose bid for showbiz fame and fortune ended in 4 minutes of magnificent failure on national television. Hugh Butternut, Buzz Maxwell, and Bobby Bean tell their rags-to-rags story earnestly, with hysterical results. Butternut is a musician, a vulnerable soul with a lounge lizard smile; Maxwell is an uncertain magician with an attitude; and Bean is an irrepressible, all-over-the-map entertainer with big dreams. The laughter is infectious, and the comedy appeals to everyone from first graders to college students to baby boomers.

Mankato History Tour*

Wednesday, September 18

Registration Deadline: Monday, August 19

Cost - $91/person

Bus leaves Community Center at 7:45am and returns at approximately 4:15pm Take a step back in time and explore the 16-room historic Hubbard House in Mankato. It chronicles the life of R.D. and his family from 1871 to 1905. The adjoining 1890 Carriage House contains a collection of horse-drawn vehicles and antique automobiles. Note: this tour includes a second floor and no elevator. Those guests who cannot climb a flight of stairs can be accommodated on the main floor and in the Carriage House. We will then have a delicious lunch at Number 4 American Bar & Kitchen including a classic chicken pot pie with a buttery flaky crust, and a mini crème brulee for dessert. The last stop of the day will be the Blue Earth History Center for a docent-led tour. The museum features hands-on history with a diorama of 1880s Mankato, displays and exhibits from the area, and treasures from local author Maud Hart Lovelace, best known for the Betsy-Tacy series.
