Rose-Hulman welcomes students from around the world to study on our beautiful campus. International students add to the rich cultural and educational texture of the Institute.
The Class of 2029 brought to Rose-Hulman students from countries all over the world, including Bangladesh, Bolivia, Canada, China, France, Greece, India, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Mongolia, Nigeria, Peru, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Tajikistan, and Uganda.
Approximately 10% of our student body is made up of international students and last year we received applications from over 80 countries. The top five countries represented on campus are China, India, South Korea, Vietnam and Nepal.
Transportation
At each scheduled break during the academic year, the Office of Student Affairs coordinates an airport shuttle service to and from campus with both the Indianapolis International Airport and the Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Ride services are also locally available such as Uber and Lyft.
Clubs and Organizations
Competition Teams are a popular way students hone in on real skills and learn to work on a team. Our teams base their operations at the Branam and Kremer Innovation Centers (BIC&KIC) where they have access to workspace, teaching, tools, and machines.

First-Year Student Costs: $58,200 Tuition and Fees, $17,427 Housing and Food International students can receive both merit- and need-based aid ranging from $15,000 to $35,000 per year. Opportunities for full scholarships are limited.

Admission Process
A completed application for admission should include:
/ Submitted application with essay
/ A letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor
/ An official copy of the secondary school transcript (Grades 9-12 or 10-13)
/ Affidavit of Financial Support from Parent or Sponsor
/ TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System), Duolingo scores, or PTEA
- If English is not your native language:
• TOEFL Minimums - If taken before January 21, 2026: 88 Internet-based, with a minimum of 20 in each area if taken on or after January 21, 2026: 4.5, with a minimum score of 4 in each section.
• IELTS Minimums - 6.5 or above with a minimum of 6.0 in each area.
• Duolingo Minimum - score of 110 or above.
• PTEA Minimum: 59 or above.
- Exemption from the TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo/PTEA requirement is provided to students who score highly enough on the SAT or ACT standardized test. This exemption will be provided to students who have achieved one of the following score(s):
• 500 or higher on the SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing section
• 21 or higher on the ACT English section
International students may apply Early Action (EA) or Regular Decision (RD). The EA deadline to complete the application and submit all required application materials is November 1, with notification on or before December 15. Early Action is non-binding. Regular Decision applicants must submit an application and all required materials by February 1, with notification by March 15. Admitted students have until May 1 to submit the enrollment deposit.
