SIX: TEEN EDITION - Programme

Page 1

DIRECTOR’S NOTE

This year’s production has been an incredible team effort, brought to life by the energy and commitment of both students and staff. I would like to thank the Production Team for the time, skills and passion they have so generously shared in creating such a wonderful show.

Our large cast has been outstanding, approaching every rehearsal with enthusiasm, patience and resilience. It has been a pleasure to see students from different year groups come together, support one another, and discover a shared sense of joy and purpose.

We have been very lucky to work with an immensely talented group of Queens. They have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the production process, navigating an intensive schedule of dance, drama, and music rehearsals with versatility and dedication. It has been a pleasure to watch their interpretations of these iconic Queens flourish and evolve over time, and I have valued the opportunity to incorporate their individual creative contributions into the direction of the production.

At a time when enrolment in creative and performing arts subjects is in decline, we are fortunate that the arts continue to be actively championed at Rosebery. These disciplines foster invaluable skills, and I hope our production serves as a powerful reminder of their enduring importance and the transformative impact of performance.

Finally, I would also like to extend my thanks to the writers of SIX: TEEN EDITION, Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, whose bold and inventive reimagining of history has provided us with such rich material. Their work has inspired not only a fun and entertaining production, but also a powerful celebration of women’s voices; encouraging women of all ages to stand tall, claim their stories, and celebrate their strength and empowerment.

I hope you enjoy our production. Thank you for your support.

MUSICAL DIRECTOR’S NOTE

Welcome to SIX: TEEN EDITION! This show is a celebration of voice, rhythm, and empowerment, and it has been a joy to bring this music to life with such a talented cast. SIX asks its performers to be fearless; vocally strong, stylistically versatile, and completely committed to telling these stories through music.

Working on the show has been both challenging and rewarding in equal measure, as it highlights not only the incredible skill of our students, but also their individuality and confidence.

Empowerment, female solidarity and finding strength in shared experiences all expressed through music, dance and drama are important values, and ones that we are delighted and proud to showcase.

I am so proud of what this cast has achieved musically.

A special thanks to Ms McKay for her energy, enthusiasm and vocal ability, to Mr Faunce-Brown for his support on the most technically challenging show I have worked on, and of course, to the incredible band who have learnt a difficult score to help support the cast.

And finally, to the Queens: thank you for your dedication, your commitment and for giving me so many amazing musical memories. I hope you enjoy the energy, humour and heart they bring to the stage tonight.

BEHIND THE SCENES

THE QUEENS: CAST 1

ISLA H

I’m excited to play the role of Catherine of Aragon because her song - ‘No Way’ - shows that she won’t let a man boss her around!

Outside of school, I have attended Stagecoach for nearly 8 years. I played the role of Matilda in my Year 6 production, as well as performing in many choir and dance festivals. I’ve performed in troupes at Disneyland Paris, Shaftesbury Theatre and, more recently, performed a solo of ‘No Way’ at the Indigo Theatre at the O2.

AMBER C JOCELYN B

I am thrilled to play Anne Boleyn and portray her rebellious, bold character on stage in one of my favourite musicals.

At Rosebery, I have previously played Tiger Lily in Peter Pan and a Core Nun in Sister Act, as well as being a member of the Rosebery Singers. I train at Laine Theatre Arts School and have also taken part in professional pantomimes.

Now, sit back, relax and ‘Don’t Lose Ur Head!’

I’m so excited to be playing Jane Seymour due to her gentle personality and beautiful song. From classical singing and flute, to piano and bass guitar, music has always been a big part of my life.

Recently I have held an organ and choral scholarship at St Giles’ in Ashtead, and taken part in courses with the Guildford Youth Symphony Orchestra. I have also been a part of Annie Jr with the British Theatre Academy, and have been in various Stagecoach productions.

NATALIA O CHLOÉ L DUDA A

This is my third school production, but my first lead role and I am so excited and honoured to show you my interpretation of such an iconic queen - Anna of Cleves!

Music and the performing arts are such big part of my life, as I’ve been playing piano for eight years and I also enjoy dance classes outside of school. In the past, I’ve taken part in shows with Stagecoach and had the privilege to sing on the Regent’s Park stage. I hope you enjoy our production!

Hi, my name is Chloé and I am delighted to be playing the role of the gorgeous Katherine Howard in SIX: TEEN EDITION, and am excited to bring her vibrant energy to the Leatherhead Theatre.

Following almost 10 years of training with Stagecoach, I have had the pleasure of performing a solo at the New Wimbledon Theatre, singing with West End Star, Kerry Ellis, and professionally recording two songs. Thank you for supporting our production - I do hope you enjoy the show.

Hi, I’m Duda and I’m thrilled to be playing Catherine Parr in Rosebery’s production of SIX: TEEN EDITION .

I’ve performed in several school productions in the past, including Shrek, Sister Act and Peter Pan, and I’m so excited to now be a part of the incredible SIX cast! Alongside theatre, I’ve recently finished filming a movie starring Kevin Spacey, which was an amazing learning experience. I can’t wait to grow and develop more as an actress both on stage and on screen.

THE QUEENS: CAST 2

AIMEE L BELLES T MOLLY U

Hi, my name is Aimee and I play Catherine of Aragon. I am very excited to play this role, as Catherine is a leader and a very strong woman.

I participate in many different musical theatre clubs, including Italia Conti, Guildford School of Acting and Joco. I do around 9 to 15 hours of dance per week. I have also participated in A Very West End Christmas with Matt Lucas and Hannah Lower, as well as Cats with the British Theatre Academy.

I am so excited to be performing as my favourite queen - Anne Boleyn!

I have always loved the arts of musical theatre and, alongside my singing lessons, I enjoy classes in jazz, acro, singing and musical theatre at Laine Theatre Arts School. I have performed in lots of dance, singing, and acting shows and, in my Year 6 leavers production, I was given the role of Maid Marian.

I cannot wait to bring Anne Boleyn to life!

I am so excited to play the role of Jane Seymour and look forward to bringing her steadfast and courageous character to life. I have played roles in Rosebery’s productions of Sister Act and Peter Pan, and have taken other opportunities such as the Year 8 Rosechella play, In The Shadows of the Attic. In Music, I take lessons in singing and flute, and participate in many clubs such as the Rosebery Singers, Flute Ensemble and the Concert Band. I hope you enjoy the show!

ELSIE O ARLIA P ELOISE B-G

I am really looking forward to playing Anna of Cleves in our school production because her character is so laid back and empowered!

I have always loved acting and enjoy my LAMDA classes. In primary school, I played the role of Hyacinth in Mystery at Magpie Manor. I take part in the Year 7 and 8 Dance Club here at Rosebery and particularly enjoy ballet.

I hope you really love our production of SIX: TEEN EDITION!

My name is Arlia and I’m delighted to play Katherine Howard. I’m very grateful for the role, because I love acting and singing. Playing Katherine means that I can express her personality, in particular her enjoyment of dancing, clothes and being the centre of attention!

I have recently secured a place in the National Youth Choir, and I have done a lot of acting in the past. I love being a part of SIX: TEEN EDITION; everyone is so nice and every rehearsal is very enjoyable.

Hi, I’m Eloise and I am so excited to play Catherine Parr in SIX: TEEN EDITION, as her song is my favourite!

I love performing and I really enjoy being a part of the Rosebery Singers. I also took part in Matilda, in which I played the role of Eric, and in Sister Act, where I played the role of Mary Roberts. Outside of school I have performed at the O2, Regent’s Park, Disneyland, Paris, and I am about to perform at the Blackpool Ballroom with Stagecoach.
