Rosebel ondersteund Outgrowers project in Brokopondo voor USD 100.000

gemeenschap in de gelegenheid zal stellen om agrarische producten te verbouwen. RGM financiert voor dit project het materiaal dat nodig is voor de agrarische ondernemingen. Het materiaal bestaat uit walking tractors met implements, motorsprayers, 3Inch diesel-waterpompen, brushcutters, PPE en andere benodigdheden voor een goede start van hun agrarische onderneming. Dit project is een initiatief van het traditioneel gezagsplatform van de belangengemeenschappen van RGM. Het hoofddoel van dit project is het creëren van lokale landbouwbedrijven om op lange termijn een duurzaam inkomen voor de gemeenschappen in Brokopondo te garanderen. De focus zal
liggen op het transformeren van traditionele planters naar agrarische ondernemers, waarbij wordt gefocust op de productie van gewassen waar een heel grote vraag naar is op de Surinaamse markt. Dit project is de follow-up van een landbouwbewustzijnsprogramma dat in het eerste kwartaal van 2022 werd geïmplementeerd in de COI’s met steun van RGM. Met dit project voegt RGM waarde toe

p 9 september 2022 tekende de General Manager van Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. (RGM) een overeenkomst voor het pilot project outgrowers Brokopondo phase-I met het platform van traditionele gezagsdragers van de belangen gemeenschappen van RGM in Brokopondo (de zgn. Communities of Interest, COI’s). Bonanza Agro Industries als coördinator van dit project heeft bij deze gelegenheid de overeenkomst medeondertekend. Met de ondertekening van deze overeenkomst ondersteunt RGM tien (10) boeren uit de gemeenschappen en assisteert bij het opzetten van een agri-business volgens het outgrowers concept waarbij elke boer wederom 3-5 anderen uit hun respectieve

aan het opbouwen van sterke gemeenschapspartnerschappen met de lokale gemeenschappen en tracht het bedrijf een positieve nalatenschap op te bouwen. De kosten van het project bedragen US$ 110.000 waarvan US$ 10.000 een bijdrage zal zijn van de projectcoördinator die ook een lokaal boerenbedrijf opereert.

n September 9, 2022, Rosebel Gold Mines (RGM) General Manager signed a project agreement with the platform of traditional authority of the Communities Of Interest (COIs) for the pilot outgrowers Brokopondo phase I project. Bonanza Agro Industries is the coordinator of the project. Through the signing of this agreement RGM will support ten (10) lead farmers from the host communities RGM works with. This project that will be implemented according to the outgrowers concept, will enable each of the ten lead farmers to accommodate 3-5
agrarian entrepreneurs, projecting on the production of crops demanded by the local market. This project is the follow up of a districtwide agriculture awareness program that was implemented in the first quarter of 2022 with support
from RGM. With this project RGM is adding value to building strong community partnerships and leaving a positive legacy. The cost of the project is 110k U$ of which 10k U$ will be contributed by the project coordinator who is also a local farmer company.

n August 17, 2022, the Mine Maintenance Department achieved another milestone. On that historic day, the department was 3 years LTA-free. A fact to be extremely proud of. According to Anup Soebedar, Maintenance Assistant Superintendent, the department uses a simple recipe: "We have an open ear and listen to the employees. We hold them accountable for their behavior and reward exemplary behavior!"

Anup says that despite this achievement, the department always leaves room to do better. "There is always room for improvement. To maintain this level, you have to constantly put energy into it. We have that energy!" said the Maintenance Assistant Superintendent.
