Chastron Pansa: I thank the RGM doctors that I’m sll alive

It seemed like a story without an end. Chastron Pansa, House Aendant, was geng skinny, feeling sicker and sicker, and finally weighed only 39 kg. Chastron was severely ill! Aer months and several treatments, it became hopeless.

"One could not find anything!", Chastron explains. He had a seizure during a weekend in July 2021 and could not breathe. Eventually, his fellow residents managed to bring him back to consciousness. Not long aer, he received a call from an RGM doctor asking him to visit the Paramaribo Medical Team (PMT) clinic at Marthastraat. He did and his life changed.

Upon arrival at the PMT, there was an immediate intervenon. "Doctors Evert and Sharon saw that I was severely ill and immediately referred me to specialist Bansi at the AZP. From then on, acon was taken and eventually, I was told what was wrong with me."

Chastron, who worked only the night shi for 11 years, no longer had to. "Kande dat siki mi tu," he says in Sranan Tongo (Maybe that made me sick). Currently, on the doctor's advice, he works nine hours and only during the day shi. Looking back, he is glad he reached out to the PMT. "I am grateful to them. Since the RGM doctors started counseling me, my health has improved. Recently, Doctor Evert said to me, ‘Pansa a’e go. Mi’e syi (Pansa you are doing well. I see! )'. And things are indeed moving in the right direcon now. My skin has recovered, and my face is no longer pale."

Like many colleagues, the House Aendant also had doubts about the RGM doctors. "At first I too thought they wanted to interfere in my private life, but I have realized that it is good for the RGM doctors to be aware of my medical condion. This policy is just right. My message to all RGM employees is to visit the PMT if something is going on. Cooperate! I have seen the advantages."

Chastron is sll under treatment, but he is smiling again and enjoying life.

Mill two years LTA-free

On Wednesday, July 5, the Mill department celebrated that on March 14, 2023, they had not recorded a Lost Time Accident (LTA) for 2 years. This special milestone obviously had to be celebrated in an appropriate way and this happened at the Pina Hut.

“Today is a great day and I am happy to be part of this team,” began

Johnson Huang, Mill Manager, with his congratulatory message. He told his audience that in addion to 2 years LTA-free, the Mill has also been able to cut roughly US$3 million from its budget while reducing power consumpon by 20%. "We were able to do all this thanks to the contribuons of our Mill teams," Johnson said.

The opportunity was taken to introduce the new addions to the Mill supervision team to those in aendance. Ersel Özberk, Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent, Darien Derrell, Chief plant Engineer, and Ruben Alvarado, Superintendent Projects, were allowed to personally share what they think of their new challenge at RGM.

New corporate enty, new uniform

Aer each acquision, not only is the logo changed but also the company branding. Within the Zijin culture, it is desirable that all employees wear the same type of uniform on site, obviously adapted to the work environment. In this context, it was also decided to purchase new uniforms at Rosebel Gold Mines.

Aer a short but thorough pilot project, in which some employees from the Health & Safety, Engineering, Mill, and Internal Communicaons departments tested the quality of the clothing, all department heads were asked to send their quanes and suggesons for the workplacebased uniforms of their teamsto the

HR and Inventory Control departments. The supplier now has all the informaon, and the uniforms are expected to be available by the end of October this year.

All employees on site will receive two sets (shirts + pants) of Zijinbranded uniforms at inial distribuon. Aer this purchase, the uniforms will be made available as stock items.
