He came to be a guest speaker to explain leadership to the Rosarian Academy community. Mr. Assainte has been coaching
Trinity College’s squash team for 30 years. He has won five gold medals in the Pan-American. He has won sixteen consecutive conference championships and 16 NCAA championships, which means that he never lost a game in those sixteen seasons.. Mr. Assante also won five gold medals as the United States squash coach in the Pan-American Games and even coached the men’s squash team in the world championship! Mr. Assainte’s views on various subjects are insightful. When asked how he had become such a successful coach he answered that his secret was “failing.” He also shared that while cell phones and social media were sometimes necessary, it is good to have a healthy balance. The most important thing this coach wanted us to know was, “The most important thing is to be a kind and gentle person.” Recruits came from all over the world to participate in Assiante’s squash team, creating a diverse environment and educating him and the little town in Connecticut. He helped them become the best versions of themselves they could be.
