I am grateful to be a part of the Rosaprima family and to have lived through one of the most significant moments in history together. The world has changed, and the lessons learned have been meaningful.

One of the many lessons I have learned is about our capacity to live with uncertainty and even celebrate it. I have come to the realization that an uncertain and often chaotic future shouldn’t ruin our plans but rather enrich them, give them deeper meaning and add resilience to them in a way not possible in less turbulent times. I now see that the future has always been uncertain and unpredictable; and this is precisely what allows us to be free and to reach new heights.

Our team has achieved so much that I can hardly describe everything here. But there are three accomplishments of which I am especially proud of. First, we were able to strengthen our product and brand portfolio, thus reinforcing our position of leadership in the floral world. Second, we developed new distribution models, which have opened-up a world of opportunities, and lessons, and have allowed us to redefine our target markets and rethink our value proposition. Finally, we have achieved great efficiencies by working smarter, in smaller and more empowered teams, where people are above processes and goals are shared, fluid and challenging.

Today Rosaprima is stronger than ever, and we have been given the best gift we could ever desire; the opportunity to rethink everything and to imagine a new and better version of ourselves.

2021 was a remarkable year, and while there were many incredible moments that made it special, here is a small recap of just a few.

fter a long and difficult 2020, we were eager to take part once again in the activities and events we so dearly missed: from fairs and exhibitions to customer visits and conferences. Most of all, we missed our friends and colleagues, and after what seemed like forever, we were finally able to safely gather again in 2021!

Fairs & Exhibitions Rosaprima loves participating in fairs! Not only do these types of events provide a setting to showcase our products and allow attendees to observe them in real life, but it’s also an incredible opportunity to connect with our customers from around the world.

Despite the challenges that arose throughout the year, Rosaprima has tenaciously continued to innovate and put forth the very best. We’ve seen this in several ways, especially through the launch of several new varieties into our exclusive collection and through the implementation of new digital technologies and systems. Needless to say,

Launch of Rosaprima Live Sessions In our pursuit of continous innovation, we set out to establish spaces within our social media platforms that allow us to be more interactive with our viewers.

Instagram Live became the perfect tool to connect with our audience at a deeper level and our Rosaprima Live Sessions quickly became a hit! We’re proud to say they’re here to stay and will be taking place once a month.

This year, we’ve covered the following topics – all carried out by Rosaprima team members, each with a particular insight and expertise: New Varieties 2021, RP Exclusive Varieties, Composting Process, A Walk Through The Farm With Our International Sales Team – Farm Tour Part 1, Post-Harvest Process and Valentine’s Pinch – Farm Tour Part 2.

Petal It Forward Every year we join floral professionals across the country as we participate in the “Petal It Forward” movement. This is an annual event initiated by SAF where unsuspecting strangers are given two flowers or bouquets, one to keep and one to give away. The goal is to spread positivity and joy through flower power! This year we took “Petal It Forward” internationally when our commercial team in Quito, Ecuador participated in this incredible event for the first time ever. There is truly nothing better than putting a smile on the faces of dozens of people, both locally and abroad. What makes this movement truly remarkable is the fact that we are tangibly spreading kindness and encouragement around the world with something as simple as a beautiful rose; that’s something worth praising.

We had the opportunity to work with Fleurs de Ville a second time this year in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In pursuit of raising awareness and support for breast cancer research, Fleurs de Ville launched an incredible series called, ROSÉ. The series took place in five different countries and within a dozen different cities. We took part in the campaign in BAl Harbour, Florida, where our roses were arranged into a beautiful piece reminiscent of a Piaget jewelry box using soft and medium pink roses.

The year 2021 was in many ways a year of redefinition; if there’s one thing that 2020 taught us it is to put things into perspective and resolve to achieve bigger and better goals because you never know what may happen. That’s exactly what we did this year. Our commitment to innovation has been the catalyst that has enabled us to reach new heights across the board; whether it was through the new varieties we acquired, the shows and events we participated in, or even the new technologies we implemented, our winning spirit shined a little brighter in the past year. Ultimately, we are overwhelmingly fortunate to have the support from all our industry partners. We could achieve nothing without them and for that we are genuinely thankful. We look forward to 2022 with great anticipation; confident of our continued growth and commitment to growing the most iconic roses for life’s extraordinary moments. Cheers to 2021 and to a wonderful 2022!

Client Visits Connecting with customers over the phone and electronically are great ways to stay in touch, but there is nothing quite like getting together in real life. Virtual exchanges will never replace face-to-face conversations as they allow us to interact with others in different and often more meaningful ways. As several COVID-19 safety measures shifted over the last year, we were finally able to safely travel again and visit our customers around 11

e are honored to have been awarded eleven ribbons at this year’s Outstanding Varieties Competition carried out by the Society of American Florists (SAF) in their 136th Annual Convention. In this occasion, Rosaprima won a ribbon for every rose variety submitted, including Best in Class 2021.

SAF’s Annual Convention is one of the most prestigious shows in the floral industry, as every year professionals from all over the United States and the rest of the world get together while a panel of judges carefully observe and choose the most beautiful flowers.

Leonora is the epitome of classic elegance and understated style. Her relaxed style exudes a sense of quiet beauty that is simply captivating.

Once again, these eleven ribbons awarded at SAF 2021 Convention are proof of our hard work and dedication.

Rosaprima has participated in the Outstanding Varieties Competition for fifteen years and has won more than 70 Ribbons over the years. We are already looking forward to SAF’s Annual Convention this year!

We are incredibly proud of our eleven ribbons as they stand for our ongoing commitment and dedication to exceptional quality and beauty in each rose. Blue Ribbon: Blue ribbons are awarded to entries scoring 42-50 points. Our winners are: RP Aspen, Dark X-pression, Princess Crown and Eugenie.

Roses Reduce Stress and Improve Emotional Health

T

he past two years have been extraordinarily demanding as we’ve had to deal with the consequences of the pandemic.

This has led to an overwhelming increase in stress levels that continues to linger even after a wide vaccine roll-out and the decrease of COVID-19 cases around the world. It is more important than ever to find ways to reduce stress and achieve more balance in our lives. Giving and receiving roses can help support and improve emotional health.

The effects of stress, particularly prolonged stress which can result in feelings of anxiety, anger and sadness, can be quite serious, leading to a number of conditions, both physical and mental. With this in mind, we would like to remind you that flowers such as roses can help improve emotional health.

A few simple changes in our lives can aid in managing stress. Practicing daily gratitude, finding moments for self-care, staying connected with friends and family, or taking deep breaths can all be simple yet powerful actions to help relax you and elevate your mood. One of our favorite ways to support and improve our emotional health is to surround ourselves with beautiful roses. Each variety has its own emotional benefits according to its color (for more on this, check out our Rose Story blog post on Color Psychology). For the purpose of calming and relieving stress, we strongly suggest lavender, light pink and white roses as they encourage relaxation and an overall sense of well-being.

Introducing Rosaprima Ecuador

O

ur roses have been distributed around the world for more than a quarter of a century. They have been a part of the most memorable moments in people’s lives through a floral distribution network of more than 25,000 florists worldwide.

Now, for the first time, our exclusive roses are also available in the Ecuadorian market directly from our farm to the final consumer through Rosaprima Ecuador.

Rosaprima Ecuador was launched during a trying time, two months after the start of the pandemic. Restrictions in Ecuador were stringent and we were all going through difficult times. Social distancing meant having to stay away from our loved ones, and we had to find new ways to keep close to one another while staying apart. As Mother’s Day was approaching, we knew that being able to give roses to our mothers in a safe, responsible 18

We also offer a collection of bouquets to which you can add a teddy bear and a chocolate, and we recently launched a 50- and 100-stem bouquet collection for special occasions such as anniversaries and engagements.

And so we built a farm-to-doorstep distribution system.

The launch was a success. In just five days we reached more than 500 homes in the capital, Quito. We were able to make all those people smile and enjoy the beauty of our export-quality roses. Since then we have continued to grow, increasing our selection and overcoming the teething problems of our first year of operation.

We are proud to be the only company in Ecuador that offers a rose subscription service and to have had so much success in such a short period of time. This year we plan to expand our presence to Guayaquil, add special integrations to offer better customer service and implement the use of recycled packaging material.

One of the main challenges we faced was to find logistical partners that could guarantee the quality of our product, maintaining the cold chain during the delivery journey.

Fortunately, we were able to find qualified operators that have allowed us to increase our service nationwide.

We love to know that we are helping our clients in Ecuador express their emotions and we look forward to growing our business together with them!

Innovation and Growth at Rosaprima

T

he year 2020 was a time to reset and re-evaluate. It was a year to weed out what was no longer functioning properly and stick with what proved to work. The pandemic was challenging, but it also gave us the chance to do a sort of house cleaning. As the demand for roses decreased with events all around the world being called off, we used the moment to refine our range of varieties. We revised our collection and removed 24 varieties that were no longer viable. We fallowed 20 hectares, and now another 20 new varieties have been added in their place; each complementing our catalog with their unique qualities.

We have come through the hardships of the pandemic with stronger determination. We have added more than 100 new hectares to ensure 20

our growth is progressive and permanent. This new land has unique characteristics that will yield different varieties that meet the demanding quality standards that sets Rosaprima apart.

In Numbers

We have also upgraded our catalog to include new floral products. We are pleased to have had successful trials with ranunculus and anemones. These flowers, native to Asia, have reacted favorably to the unique conditions of the Cayambe highland soil. At more than 3,000 meters above sea level, our greenhouses welcomed these beautiful flowers that are already in high demand around the world. We expect that by the end of the year we will have at least 3 hectares that will produce more than one million stems for commercialization.

Varieties Renewed

Rosaprima is continuously innovating and growing. Every year we review more than 10,000 new floral variety codes, as well as different technology and equipment that make our operation more efficient and environmentally friendly.

We are continuously improving the quality of our packaging materials and encouraging our suppliers to step up to their highest standards.

Building our Future Together

t Rosaprima, people are at the core of what we do, so only the best join. Through our program “Building our future together”, which aims to recruit young interns to put into practice their academic knowledge in a participatory and challenging environment, candidates are being prepared to become the future team-members at Rosaprima.

The program is structured to ensure the integration of the interns, bringing them closer to the reality of Rosaprima and guaranteeing the best for their start at the company. We offer trainings, activities and tools aimed at promoting their learning and guiding their performance at the company. In addition to everyday activities, the program offers interns the opportunity to share ideas and projects that improve the processes or services of their areas.

We are also proud to celebrate another year of our program “Brilliant Minds”, which is developed with the purpose of recognizing and valuing the academic effort of our colleagues’ children. At Rosaprima, we believe that education is the main tool for the development and future of children and adolescents. Brilliant Minds is a program that encourages education by giving a special recognition to the effort students put in every day, as well as for their ingenuity and responsibility. All of Rosaprima’s employees’ children that are currently studying in primary or secondary school in any educational institution and have received a minimum

OUR TEAM

Human Rights, Health and Safety at Rosaprima

H

uman rights and workers rights are central themes at Rosaprima. As such, issues such as gender equality are treated in an integral manner through Rosaprima’s internal policies. Our “Prevention of and Response to Cases of Discrimination, Harassment and/or Violence Against Women Protocol” establishes measures and policies that promote protection and confidentiality.

These include a permanent campaign of activities disseminated throughout the company that aims to

guarantee an appropriate work environment. This has allowed us to generate bonds of trust between employees and the company, helping to considerably reduce cases of violence.

Likewise, at Rosaprima we have implemented policies that promote the protection of maternity and paternity, as well as support for breastfeeding mothers. Our farms have private, comfortable lactation rooms that adhere to strict hygiene standards and also provide the necessary infrastructure to properly collect and preserve their milk.

The implementation of these lactation rooms contributes to an increase in the motivation and emotional state of working mothers, which translates into an increase in their performance and work productivity, as well as decreases turnover and absenteeism.

At Rosaprima we are committed to the safety, health and well-being of our staff, so we will continue to develop strategies aimed at preventing and mitigating harmful risks to their physical, mental and emotional health.

OUR TEAM

Growing Stronger Together

T

he year 2021 began with our team fully recharged. We were excited to imagine we would soon meet again and resume many activities we had to suspend due to the pandemic.

The safety and well being of our employees always comes first, our health being a top priority. As such, biosafety norms establishing protection protocols based on national legislation as well as the recommendations from international public health authorities were put into effect throughout Rosaprima to guarantee the safety of our work environments. We ensured the proper use of the mask at all times, increased cleaning and disinfecting practices and carried out timely health check-ups. Likewise, we launched a campaign generating awareness about risk prevention and established policies to ease work from home and manage flexible work schedules. These and other measures were put into place to minimize the risk

of infection and resulted in very few cases of COVID among our employees, those of which were quickly detected and controlled in an efficient manner.

Rosaprima also implemented a vaccination scheme which resulted in 100% of our employees -and a large percentage of their relatives- fully vaccinated with Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca. Through the scheme, we arranged for doctors and nurses as well as additional administrative staff to quickly and efficiently get hundreds of people vaccinated every day. Rosaprima also sent a medical brigade to the neighboring communities of Guachalá, Cangahua and El Hato, contributing to the immunization of more than five thousand people.

We are proud to have been part of this important milestone in the fight against Covid-19, which allowed us to resume some activities, reducing the risk of infection, in addition to promoting economic reactivation.

From July, the administrative employees went back to working from the office. The process was challenging, and was done in a progressive manner, ensuring everyone’s safety.

Initially there was uncertainty, however, it was important to recognize that feeling fear, anger or sadness was part of the process of change.

After celebrating our last Christmas together in 2019, we had the hope of 2021 being a better year, sharing incredible moments in Rosaprima. We have the greatest team. We knew we were capable of overcoming adversity, finding solutions and aligning into a single vision.

Finally, the long-awaited day arrived at the end of December 2021, we were again able to celebrate together the closing of a successful year. It was truly emotional to get together after almost two years and share moments of joy and gratitude.

We were pleasantly surprised to see the effort each person put into preparing the activities, demonstrating once more the values that make a Rosaprima team member.

For Rosaprima it has been great to be part of this process, showing us just how resilient we are. We know the pandemic has not yet ended and that we must continue taking care of our health and that of others, however we are stronger and more motivated to welcome a new year full of new challenges and goals to achieve.
