It all began 80 years ago with home-based weaving classes. Since then we have come a long way, but our core has never changed. Nor has our passion. Here in the town of RĂ¸ros, we produce the worldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s most beautiful throws. Our weaving traditions are hundreds of years old, but the 90s introduced us to new possibilities. Modern technology and a new range of machinery enabled us to think outside the box. We wanted to create products that could be experienced, and enjoyed by everyone. Our Mini & Baby sized throws is no exception. For generations our wool throws has kept toddlers and kids warm and comfortable all year around. The collection has a wide range of designs and colors, something for all ages and imaginations. Our products are made entirely from 100% Norwegian wool. A material that naturally regulates body temperature, manages moisture and breathes. It is also durable, lightweight and recyclable. Naturally perfect! Norwegian wool also meets the very strict criteria for Cradle to Cradle, and thereby argued to be amongst the most sustainable textile fibers in the world. We hope you and your little ones enjoys our warm and comfortable throws.

to her work – in combination with her very own specific palette of pastels and fluorescing colours. As a young girl, Birkeland spent hours by her mother and grandmother’s side, watching them weave on a loom. Already at the age of four, she started to learn different crafting techniques such as knitting, crocheting and embroidery in addition to weaving. “Since childhood I have always been fascinated by the colours of the rainbow. As I became older I got more and more interested in breaking the order of the colours and putting them together in new combinations. As a lot of inspiration for my work when it comes to colours, has roots in my childhood, I think that it is especially fun that the CITY collection, which was launched in 2019, now is made available in the Mini and Baby sizes too”

Our Norwegian wool

Since 1940 Røros Tweed has produced highquality wool products, based on centuries-old local craft traditions. All of our products are made of Norwegian wool and are entirely produced in Norway from raw wool to finished product. In Norway there is a long and proud tradition of breeding sheep, to harvest their wool and to handle it as a valuable resource. Since 1927 Rauma Ullvarefabrikk, the owners of Røros Tweed, has refined this raw material in accordance with the strict quality standards that characterize Norwegian handicraft tradition. Norwegian wool is sorted into 16 different classes and how the wool is handled and sorted is crucial for its value. Through our close cooperation with Norilia, the Norwegian association for wool, we receive the finest Norwegian lambswool. Our wool is characterized by exceeding resilience and elasticity with an ideal combination of comfort and usability. Norwegian wool meets the criteria for Cradle to Cradle – for good animal welfare, low energy consumption, proper resources and little use of chemicals. In 2015 Norilia was the first wool producer awarded with the Svane certification, the official Nordic ecolabel.
