PRINCIPAL’S REPORT As we come to the end of Term 2 can I thank staff, students and parents for their efforts. As many of you know I took extended leave this term and I would like to thank Ms. Mattimore, Ms. Vuki and our new deputy principal for ensuring the school continued to deliver high quality curricular and extra curricular programs for students. Thanks also to teachers who have created learning opportunities for all our students. This edition of Missing Link is very large, reflecting the many opportunities students had to learn and participate in Term 2. There are stories of success in academic studies, sport, school service and the arts. At the same time student assessment for first semester is now finished and reports were issued at the Principal Presentation Assemblies on Thursday 25 June. Congratulations to the 850 students in Years 7-10 and the staff who completed interviews
during personalised learning week and set goals for next semester. Congratulations to Year 12 on successfully completing their trial examinations. Some other highlights of the term included: • The Young Writers awards with the partner primary schools in The Learning Neighbourhood. • SALSA training with over 100 Year 10 volunteers leading groups and Dr Smita Shah winning an AMA (Australian Medical Association) award for her work with the SALSA program. • Success in cross country, athletics and basketball - with the Boys Basketball team, coached by Mr. Diaz, finishing 5th in the state - the school's best ever result in the sport. • The continued roll out of BYOD and the use of technology in classes. • The redesign of a number of classrooms and learning spaces to be 21st century learning spaces with new furniture and work flows. • Ms. Callaghan's successful trip to the USA representing Australia at the Microsoft Educators’
