• Celebrating Homegrown Talent: This event provides a platform to showcase the skills and passion of local cannabis growers and enthusiasts.
• Educational Opportunities: Participants can learn about different strains, cultivation techniques, and the culture surrounding cannabis in a fun and interactive setting.
This will be a great way to connect with likeminded individuals and celebrate the diversity and creativity within the cannabis community.
Entry Requirements
$75 pre-registration or $100 the day of the judging. For pre-registration, stop by Roots Hydroponics at 423 Main Ave Moorhead, MN to fill out an entry form and pay the entry fee.
You can enter more than one strain to be judged –fill out an entry form and pay a new entry fee for each additional entry.
Entries need to be registered and handed in by 4:00pm on 4/20.
Please provide a sample large enough to be judged based on overall appearance. Whether it be your best frosty nug, or a few grams of your most beautiful little buds!
Please put samples in a mason jar to preserve smell. This way experience! You do not need to write on the jars as they will be we can keep everything fair with no bias)
Official judging is BLIND and judges only see the entry number. They do not see information from the entry form prior to judging.
Prizes to be announced day of event! The suspense will be worth the wait!

Judging will be based on 3 categories.
Categories will be judged on a scale of 1 – 10. 10 being the best and 1 the worst. The cannabis with the (high)est combined total score in all categories will be the winner of the “1st Annual Homegrown Cannabis Cup Hosted by CBD of FM and Roots Hydroponics.”
Aesthetics – This includes the frostiness of the bud, the density and the color, is it trimmed properly? Does it look like you could buy it from a dispensary? or does it look like something your creepy uncle pulls out of his pack of half smashed Marlboro reds?
Aroma – How does it smell? Does it smell of grass and hay? Can you pull the notes of the individual terpenes? How loud is it? Does it smell like skunk? Citrus? Is the smell enjoyable or just downright dank? How many bags can you smell it through? Let’s put your best to the smell test!
Taste – Is it smooth, strong, stale or just plain harsh? Can you taste the terpenes? Does it taste like grass or hay? Does the taste match the description of the strain that was grown? Can you taste nutrients or is the taste fresh and clean? How well was the cannabis cured?
Super Short and Sweet Schedule:
2:30pm – The vibin’ starts! Music will be provided by local DJ Chris Patano. Multiple of our favorite local artists are bringing their extraordinarily beautiful and kooky collections for all to shop. CBD of FM will be selling Junkyard Brewery’s Squeezie THC Beverages for $5/each!
4:00pm – Entries need to be registered and handed in for judging.
8:00pm – Winners will be announced!
