COMMUNITY CENTER AT RIVER BESOS Comprehensive Studio - Summer 2022 Location: Barcelona, Spain.
Program consist on a community and retail center. The floor plan design allows circulation around the edges of the building, such as the cambium on the bark of a tree offering the visitors a great view, and constant contact with the environment. The facade of the building was inspired by the cortex of a particular tree called London plain that sheds based on the weather, while doing so, it’s open spaces allow sunshine optimizing the photosynthesis. The facade sheds as the tree, allowing or blocking sunlight as needed, it also offers texture to the structure.

MIAMI YELLOW TETROMINO Thesis - Spring 2023 Location: Goverment Center, Miami.
The Miami Yellow Tetromino is a two-tower residential complex located in downtown Miami, offering over 400 apartments as part of a larger government center development. The first tower rises 24 stories and features a lush rooftop garden, providing residents with a beautiful and relaxing space to unwind while enjoying panoramic city views. The second tower, standing at 33 stories, is equipped with solar panels, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.

Typical Floor Plan
Positioned 65 feet apart, the towers create a balanced urban presence. A defining feature of the design is the Tetris-shaped yellow panels adorning the facade, which provide shading for windows and balconies. This strategy is both visually striking and functional, significantly reducing cooling demands. The first seven floors of the towers are dedicated to office spaces, seamlessly integrating residential and commercial functions within a single, cohesive design.

THE FIELD OF VESICLE INTERLOCKING Design Studio 8 - Fall 2021 Location: Edge Water, Miami.
This structure is meant to be a pavilion and an artist studio, artist’s will live and work here for a period of 6 months to a year. In order to optimize space, a donut shaped was created by using contour lines as a guide. The structure consist of ribs around the interior that are attached to the exterior.

In Geology; Vesicle is a small cavity in volcanic rock, produced by gas bubbles in the molten lava.

The interior was shaped based on the exterior figure, although custom furniture was created to adapt to the shape, optimization of the space was needed. It is surrounded by green vegetation and presents water view. The structure becomes a beautiful sight from the buildings above, specially during sunrise when the light reflects and refracts against and from its metallic design.

To provide privacy, the windows of the twist are towards the inside, meaning the patio of the artist, it also has skylights representing the vesicle throughout the inside, it creates the sensation of warmth and earth

SYMBIOSIS Design Studio 9 - Spring 2022 Location: Julia Tuttle Causeway
A high rise building for vertical inhabitance, since it is estimated that the sea level will rise 30 meters by 2100. The building is divided in half; public and residential, the program will be multifunctional, including a variety of programs within the structure, such as; educational, commercial, emergency rescue, market, restaurants, green spaces, etc. This was a team project developed with two other group members.

This structure is directly above a fish haven, therefore the island is made out of calcium carbonate so coral reef can grow from there to expand biodiversity. The skin facade of the building is kinetic, by doing this, light cannot penetrate directly into the interior and using less air conditioning to cool down the structure.

The design consist in two floors, on the lower level it offers accommodations for a bedroom, living room and bathroom. On the second floor, there’s a music studio, office and balcony. The stairs leading to the second floor are outside the unit to preserve privacy from visitors when accessing the studio.
