Our Definition of Family Discipleship A.
B.
C.
A divine mandate to bring all nations into spiritual maturity. “The Great Commission” is the mandate to the church to “make disciples". Disciples are learners or followers of Jesus Christ, Matt. 28:16-20. Assurance of perpetual disciple – making, II Tim. 2:2 "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses the same commit thou to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also". Disciple – making is a non-debatable responsibility for the Church of Jesus Christ, John 1:7 "The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe". Discipleship is linked to faithful persons who adhere to the principles of scripture in their personal lives and are committed to assist others in their maturing, John 1:11-13 "He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God".
D. 1. Discipleship is a process not a program, Ephesians 4:13 "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" 2. Discipleship is qualitative not quantitative, Matt. 10:1-4 "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; the first, Simon, who is called Peter and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the publican (the tax man), James the son of Alphaeus and Lebbaeus who surname was Thaddaeus, Simon the Canaanite and Judas Iscariot who also betrayed him".
