Project 1 The Expansion is a metal building project that takes inspiration from the car it’s built to house. The ‘70 Plymouth Barricuda was a car that was created with options to upgrade it from the stock to a real racing machine. The Expansion took that concept to upgrade, or expand the metal building. The modulation to the standard kit of parts was based off the Parc de Villete by Bernard Tschumi and other architects. A project that edited a standard 9 square module in order to create various folies.

Project 2 The site exists in the expanding city of Charlotte and NODA the historical art and entertainment. A cultural center gathers people to experience regional cultural, and for Charlotte that’s art, entertainment and beer. Taking inspiration from UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture, this center focuses on the programs of art, music, dance, and theater. The address the need for galleries and performance spaces that privilege the local artists.

Project 4 This studio project was a remodel of 609 Waco St, in Charlotte, NC. Due to neighborhood’s demographic, the studio began studying about how african american spaces are defined, and by what means. From =analyzing narratives of former slaves, we began to figure out what they used to be and how they transformed over time. My project in particular focused the audible aspect present in gatherings, and modern practices of observation. It began to remodel the standard house of the neighborhood into a controllable sound tunnel. 1- Photos/Collages of African American churches (past and present) 2- Diagrams of panels and sound reflecting off of them

These Rudisill Gold Mine Museum are boards describing how my partner Seth Byrd, and I designed our building to Net Zero.
Our project is a combination of speculative office space and a gold mining museum. The form of the building is generated through the fracturing of a simple rectangular form. Once the shape was fractured, each resulting wedge was developed to respond to the site conditions. The main site condition that it is responding to is the sun. On the sides that receive the most sunlight, the levels overhang each other, helping shade the interior. The building is zoned vertically into regular and irregular areas. In the office tower, the regular zones help define the connection to the ground and the sky. The irregular zones allow the freedom to achieve the sun shading strategy. The floor to floor heights in this zone vary to accommodate the different needs of tenants. In the museum, the floor to floor height is compressed and more regular to correlate to the nature of the mine. On the ground level, an escalator carries museum visitors 55’ under ground to the first level of the museum. From there, a series of escalators carries visitors down to each of the exhibits of the museum, concluding 135’ below grade where visitors can interact with the historic mine shaft. The form of the office tower is driven by a desire to shade from the sun and to create interior atriums that connect several spaces visually. The floor plates rotate, scale and sometimes disappear completely, creating widely varied office spaces.

Collected water used to irrigate site
Cistern
By using an on-site rainwater collection system, the project will require no extra water to irrigate the site. Coupled with the use of sustainable local plants, the site should be able to support itself. There is also the opportunity to harvest solar energy on the roof of the building, which can start to offset the costs of heating, cooling and lighting. Lighting loads will be reduced by the natural

Lighting loads will be reduced by the natural light allowed into the building. The particularly hot facets of the facade will be clad with high-efficiencty PV panels. The facets that receive a moderate amount of radiation will have low efficiency clear PV film. Facets that re receiving low radiation will be clear glass. There is also the opportunity to harvest solar energy on the roof of the building, which can start to offset the costs of heating, cooling and lighting.

Through our radiation analysis we discovered which panels are recieving the most radiation. From there we implemented a system based off of the average radiation per panel. Panels that consistently recieve the harshest levels of radiation with be fitted with a black PV panel to absorb the radiation. All the other panels will be fitted with a clear PV panel. An additional system between the glass panels will filter filter out daylight from the summer season, and will be applied to the panels that recieve medium to high radiation.

Project 6 This Detailed Section is based off my 3rd year undergraduate project, The Music Warehouse. It was to designed from a analogy of musical theory and building structure. My desing incorporates different types of structure, in this case I focused on detailing the space frame over the warehouse.av
