I handle research & design for architecture and urban planning topics related to sustenability as well as event strategy. The biennial focuses on education, profession and city, with next year’s topic handling sustainability & responsability issues. 2016 2019

JR. ARCHITECT Plancontrol

ARCHITECTURE & URBAN PLANNING Politechnic University of Timisoara, Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning

Bachelor & Master (MArch) university studies, provided together in a single, integrated system.

Workshop “Implementing design feedback in the early design stage using data”, #graphisoftLEARN

My focus has been on urban planning and design, working with both public and private contributors. I also designed commercial and industrial projects. I worked directly with clients and stakeholders, dealing with the creation of 2D and 3D projects on different scales, structuring information, holding presentations and gathering input from citizens, in order to improve proposals.

Continental Hotel

Europan 13, Gratz

Urban Renewal, Sthlm

A new addition is needed for the hotel that was built in 1971. The old construction is not legally a monument, yet, it has become a symbolic building in Timisoara. This aspect has made it important to find a solution that will not disturb the equilibrium - form wise - in the city center.

An urban renewal project on an XS dimention site, in Gratz, Austria. The proximity to the railway station is the focus point of the project, a connection between the two entities being required. requested, making public space the link that can bring those together.

Looking towards the closing of Bromma Airport in 2038, a new proposal for the areas surrounding it is expected. The chosen site is situated in the industrial part of Johannesfred. Some problems that this proposal is trying to solve regard the need for residential space, density and lack of many urban centers.

Multiplexity

Europan 15, BorĂĽs

Linnanniemi, Turku

Urban renewal project in Sweden that is based on “productive city principles and genius loci. The proposed solution works with a tabula plena approach, preserving buildings, nature and local culture.

Urban Regeneration in Finalnd. The site is situated on the limit between water and land in an industrial district. It must be transformed into a vibrand neighborhood that lives 24/7. A museum must be designed also.

A technical museum is expected to be designed & built for Timisoara 2021 - European Capital of culture. The proposal should present not a static building, but rather a resillient device.

*other projects have a preview at the end of the portfolio and can be sent upon request

Continental Hotel, Timisoara Hotel Addition

School/Competition project Site Location: Timisoara, Romania Wanting to keep the proposal free from a competition between the 2 buildings, the new addition planned will be designed with a strong horizontal accent. The visual impact of the building is minimum, allowing it to be easily integrated with both the park and the older hotel. The ground floor accomodates multiple semi-public spaces, like coffee-shops or restaurant, making the barrier between public (the park) and private (the hotel) easier to cross.

Ground Floor Having a semi-public feel, this floor creats a link between the park and the inside of the hotel through a series of coffe shops and restaurants. Changes made to the old building are related to the old kitchen, restaurant and the event hall. 1st-4th Floor The 4 floors give access to 88 rooms, as well as 4 conference rooms. The detached facade allows the existance of small balconies where guests can enjoy direct view over the park / green terace Roof The roof accomodates a coffe-bar that is available for both hotel guests and other visitors. The walkable part of the roof & the bar are oriented towards the park, while the North-East wing, closer to the boulevard is covered by grass and trees.

Multiplexity - Science Center TIMISOARA 2021 proposal

Site Location: Timisoara, Romania While preparing for 2021 Timisoara European Capital of Culture, the need for a new space, a technological museum / science center has appeared. Situated near the river Bega, the new proposal works with steel, glass and the existing brick facade. The focus of the project is to make a flexible device, that can easily adapt to any space requirments. Engineering is the backbone of this proposal, offering a multitude of ways to redesign the space through the usage of modular platforms that can move through the entire building. Main station West, Gratz EUROPAN 13, 2015

Site Location: Gratz, Austria The main goal of our project was to connect the two sides of the Bahnhofsviertel cartier divided by the railroad tracks. The purpose was to create a new connection by allowing the project site to act as a gateway and establish unity of the Bahnhofsviertel Cartier. We desired to have a visual impact on visitors coming into Graz by train - the urban silhouette generated would have been a catalyst and attractor for visitors. Coordinators: arch. Ovidiu MIcsa, arch. Gabriela Pascu Contributors: Alexandru Mihailescu, Razvan Dinu, Eduard Benga, Paul Ficut, Felix Pantalici, Florin Simirdeanu, Nicodim Lezeu, Raul Feier

Public space is present at different hights, allowing pedestrians to experience a fluid and dynamic route through the site. The different elevations of the journey influences the perception of the site and allows people to see and to be seen. The most convenient way to access the sire is on foot. Pedestrians can move freely throughout the site and all public spaces are easily accessible also for elderly or disables.

Johannesfred, Bromma, Stockholm URBAN RENEWAL PROPOSAL

School Project: Final Thesis, first phase Site Location: Stockholm Considering the need for new residential developments, as well as the closing of Bromma Airport in 2038, the project tries to come with a feasible solution for the Industrial area from Johannesfred. The concept is influenced by the dialog with people living in Stockholm, demanding a new urban center and by the information from the City Plan. I am working with a combination between a grid of streets and a matrix of activities. The proposal is based on the importance of public space, as well as an equilibrium between functions

Gässlösa - Borås, Sweden EURPAN 15, 2019

Site Location: Borås, Sweden The requirements of the competition ask for a solution that would go under the idea of “productive city”. It should offer the best conditions to live a simple everyday life in a dense urban environment that is attractive through a range of urban qualities and fast and flexible local and regional transports. Moreover, it is ought to be an inclusive urban environment where there is much to choose from and where people can meet and exchange culture and ideas. The proposed solution works with a tablua plena approach and is based on preserving as much as possible: buildings, nature and genius loci. Contributors: Ana Maria Branea, Marius Găman

Masterplan Ghiroda (work project) Ghiroda is a small town near Timisoara (3rd biggest city in Romania) that also contains Traian Vuia Airport. The masterplan has to deliver a uniform concept that would create a link between Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii - two small villages that have a single administration. During this project I worked with transport infrastructure, green spaces, handeling both new and old plots, designing new spaces and solving problems on different scales. (ex. minimizing the harsh limits created by the railway and industrial plots, street design, public space design, construction guide for individual housing etc.)

In the last 10 years, Timisoara secured it place as one of the most important cities in Romania. This position came together with a need to extend the city and fight the natural growth towards urban sprawl. This project proposes a different way to grow the city, while also respectig the already built environment that is in proximity. The entire new neighborhood is developed along a green area that is protecting the old water trench. Functions like residential, commercial, health & office are proposed.

Urban Accupuncture (competitions & workshops)

Most extra small projects have been part of competitions (ex. Com’on Timisoara - winner, Lays Competition - winner) or workshops like Reprogramming the City (part of Timisoara 2021 European Capital of Culture) and LightEdu (part of the Timisoara Architecture Biennial). I’ve worked both at designing and implementing those projects together with my team members.
